Just as a matter of note: Scott County High School also uses Georgetown College's field for home football games. I haven't looked at their playoff schedule though.

It was nothing that Highlands did wrong, it was all what CovCath did right. They have improved over the last couple of weeks, they looked very solid tonight. I still think Highlands' line is very, very good, but after the game they are a notch behind the Colonels.

My vote goes...absolutely...to the COVCATH COLONELS. I voted for Highlands a couple of weeks ago when the thread came up and after what I witnessed tonight....I WAS WRONG!!!!! My apologies Zach Franxman, Nathan Kater, Andy Schulte, Nick Hudepohl, and Daniel Heath, you are now officially the best. Congrats!!!!!!

Having seen Beechwood, Boone, Dixie, Highlands, Ryle, and CCH all play: My vote would be for Highlands. and I am an O-line mom.

With the way your offensive line is playing, we will have to have a few tricks up our sleeves. Saving Joseph for "the game" might be one of them. I'll never tell.

No, Joe did not see any offensive time. However, Jace Ganshirt was used effectively as part of the offensive package. Nice game Jace!!!

Hazeltine is playing much tougher than Chaska, the young man that shot 60 on Chaska, shot 6 over on Hazeltine. So, if the UK golfers played H yesterday they could make up some ground today. Volp played H yesterday...hope for under par on C...and he makes the cut.

Thanks for the update and I'm glad that he doesn't have anything broken. Although a bruised spleen is still somewhat serious. I for one hope he plays (if given the OK), he is quite an athlete. and I'll take CovCath 31-13.

I agree cshs81. CovCath needs to recover from the flu bug that hit the team hard last week. An injury to Farris in the Boone/Beechwood scrimmage would prove to be a difference maker in what the outcome of this game will be. The thread on that scrimmage noted that he was injured, to what extent it didn't say. Someone at the CCH/Glen Este scrimmage said they thought he had suffered some broken ribs. I CANNOT confirm whether this is true or not.

Excellent article...I had been out of town for a couple of days and my family saved the paper for me. I am looking forward to the scrimmage this Saturday as well as a good season for the Colonels.

Glad to report, Volp came right back, with a 73 in the fourth and final round. This earned him a tie for 14th. The young man from Australia was your medalist, the only player under par for the event. Congrats, Alex! on a Top Twenty in a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP !! We're very proud of you.

Sorry to report that "the bad and the ugly" were part of yesterday's round. Alex recorded an 83 for the day, which included 5 doubles. Volp drops into a tie for 19th. Bring it back today, VOLP!!! :jump:

Volp shoots 70 for the second round, moves to 4 under par for the tournament. A young man from Austrailia shoots 67 today, to go with his 72 from yesterday and takes over the lead by one. 184 golfers are in the field, and after two rounds of play only 6 are under par. Mr. Austrailia -5 Volp -4 4 others at -1 Go VOLP !!! :jump:

The Junior World Golf Championships are underway at Torrey Pines in SanDiego. After the first round of play, northern Kentuckian, recent CovCath grad, and UK signee, Alex Volpenhein is your LEADER!!!!! Second place is a tie between a young man from Thailand and a young man from New Zealand. Volp shot a 2 under 70 to lead the way. There are four rounds of play in the tournament. Go VOLP!!!!:jump:

I had the pleasure of watching Alex play Elks Run on Tuesday. He's hitting the ball extremely long. The sound coming off the club face is so different than a couple of years ago. Volp had a tough second shot on a par 5 out of some longish rough, the result of the shot wasn't a thing of beauty but the lack of pain in his back was. Team USA "stuff" has been delivered...how cool is that? :thumb: and a letter of congratulations from the President!!! and Mrs. Bush. Enjoy the experience, Alex! U S A

CovCath beat Holy Cross in the game played at Meinken, and lost the two played at CCH.

NWO, According to the CCH website, the Colonels played Greenup County on Friday night and not Henry Clay. There must have been a schedule change in the tournament. Spring Valley WVA must have cancelled and been replaced with Greenup and Raceland. Sorry about the confusion. HT

NWO, Looking at TheOldGuy's post, he says they won two of three over the weekend, and both of those were on Saturday, so I would think they did lose on Friday night. HT

The question was asked early Saturday morning. I thought he was asking about the Friday night game. CovCath was not scheduled to play Henry Clay on Saturday. So what was the score of the Friday night game?
