CovCath 7 Henry Clay 4

CovCath came back again in this one. Going into the last inning down by 1, they had the top of the line up up and they did their job. Mike Stephens pitched a complete game W for the colonels.

#40 Skylar Stein gets a huge hit in the top of the seventh inning to win the game for the Colonels. Also a big tip of the cap to #1 Connor Larkin for his play in the field and his timely hitting. Looks like the Colonels are getting it together by taking two out of three this weekend against some very tough competition from across the Commoneweath....

Great weekend of High School Baseball in Boyd County

Great win for CCH. They needed a big win right now over a powerhouse team to boost what some might say as average morale.

NWO,

Looking at TheOldGuy's post, he says they won two of three over the weekend, and both of those were on Saturday, so I would think they did lose on Friday night.

Good deal :thumb:

NWO,

According to the CCH website, the Colonels played Greenup County on Friday night and not Henry Clay. There must have been a schedule change in the tournament. Spring Valley WVA must have cancelled and been replaced with Greenup and Raceland.

Sorry about the confusion. HT

The WV team pulled out of the tournament and Greenup was scheduled. I heard from players on CCH's team that Greenup was the best team they've played all year, along with Henry Clay.

Agree with that statement.... It was the first loss that I saw that I could say that CovCath lost, no if and or buts... Very, very good hard hitting team......

Who does Greenup County play, college teams? They have a loosing record of 8 wins & 9 losses.

Maybe they just had a very good game. Players on the team said every kid on the team was lightning quick and could hit the ball very well. It's puzzling to me how they have a losing record.

Don't know, don't really care, but on Friday night at Boyd County, they were the best team that I have seen play this year....

Man could they hit, and every hit was a shot, up the middle, in a gap, all line drives...... They didn't hit any dieing quails, or seeing eye balls and I don't care about their record, but Friday night.........WoW.....

Call it a fluke, call it luck, call it whatever, but on this Friday night at Boyd County, I saw the best team that I have seen play high school baseball this year........and CovCath didn't play bad at all, in fact other than one play in foul territory, I don't think they had an error. CovCath hit the cover off the ball also, but unfortunately a lot of CovCath shots were hit high enough and deep enough to be home runs at the Colonels home field and most other high school fields but not at Boyd County.

From a baseball fan point of view, it was a great game to watch, good defense, great offense, exciting game.....
