I have to admit, this kid has it all. Rocket for an arm, but, also can tone it down and make the more catchable pass when needed. Kid's also got great size and mobility. Better runner than I would have thought, also. He may not have that many offers yet, which I don't understand, he'll be getting some big time offers this time next year. I hope he will make some QB camps over the summer and show off what he's got. Reminds me of a young Will Levis.

IMO, Hatchell would be a home run hire. As a Mayfield fan, I'd hate to lose him, but, the guy can flat out draw up a great game plan and makes great in game adjustments, plus his ties to Graves Co makes him an immediate fan favorite. The only drawback is his lack of experience as a head coach, but, he's been at the winningest program in West Ky for a long time and I'm sure he's seen what running a successful program is all about.

I expect this one will be a shootout. Cooper's QB is the real deal and will find some open spots in the Purples secondary. With that said, I don't think it'll be enough to keep pace with an explosive offensivr team like BG has. There QB will use his legs as well as his arm and get the ball to his playmakers. I really believe CC will win this game. They just got through playing about as athletic a team as you'll see in PT and there defense stood its ground. I'm sure BC will make a few big plays and put some points on the board, but, I expect CC to get behind that big OL and give them a heavy dose of the run game, move the chains and limit BC's opportunities. If you're going to beat Boyle, you have to play a disciplined game & I think the Colonels can execute that game plan. CC 31 BC 28

Tilghman's strength next year will be in the trenches, where there entire DL returns along with 4 of 5 on the OL. Considering how big and strong they were this year, next years will be scary good. Throw in the fact that there QB returns along with Carter at wideout and another stud RB, they'll be loaded for bear offensively and they have serious talent coming up through the under classes, so, things look bright for the future. I do agree they need to try and schedule up next year to better prepare them for the playoffs. I'd love to see them try and schedule a Bowling Green or S Warren and maybe Owensboro or even a quality out of state team.

2 outstanding teams facing off for the title. OBC has had a dominating playoff run thus far and this game will likely be the only one they'll be challenged in. The Cards have been in 2 absolute wars the past 2 games and that experience could be the difference or will they be physically and emotionally spent. Guess we'll know soon enough.

War Memorial Stadium has had 2 weeks in a row of instant classics. The Cards have beaten 2 excellent teams that pushed them to the limit. The bad news is, it doesn't get any easier next week. Geez !!

Congrats Colonels on a well deserved hard fought win. These were 2 excellent teams going at it. PT, you have nothing to hang your heads for. Outstanding year and if you only lose 5-6 starters from both sides of the ball, I have no doubt you'll be back knocking on the door next year.

The typical PT team is always athletic, but usually under achieving. Tending to self implode with disciplinary issues. The difference this year is they've added several talented players from McCracken Co to go along with a couple of out of state 4 star prospects and seems to have broke a lot of those bad habits. They've added some good assistants and have them playing the style of ball they should have been playing all along. Just 2-3 years ago, they dressed 40 kids if they were lucky, now they dress somewhere in the 70-75 range. Big difference. They still make too many penalties for my liking, but, you can still see the difference in past teams. Night and day.

Mayfield was really young that year and Beechwoods defense was as strong as I've seen in several years. They were nasty and tough and just smothered most offenses they played.

Last night, I got on the internet and watched the Beechwood vs Cov Cath game. I may be in the majority here, but, I felt like Beechwood was every bit as good as CC, maybe even a little better. They were impressive.

I agree. D.Heights is a lot better than their record shows and S Kenton is a pretty good team. also. On Mayfield's side, Graves Co was better than most thought and Henderson Co was not a cake walk. Personally, neither schedule was head and shoulders above the other and I doubt it has any bearing on friday's outcome.

IMO, this would defeat the purpose of playing for home field advantage. Plus, you're likely to be playing in front of sparce crowds, if both teams had to travel 150-250 miles, especially with all the live feeds on the internet showing a great deal of these games. People will stay home for the holidays and watch it on tv.

Strangely, imo, CAL's most impressive stat was in their lone 14-12 loss to LCA. Holding that offense to 14 is quite the feat. In saying that, several teams put up bid scores on LCA, where as CAL only musters 12. Makes me question that offense some. Lex Cath's record is deceiving, losing to 4 of the best teams in Ky this year, they're battle tested and won't be intimidated and they have the playmakers to put up some points and make things interesting. This game will be closer than most think.

You have to think that long bus ride gives Mayfield a distinct advantage. Same with Cov Cath vs PT. They should have a distinct advantage, as well.

It may not matter, but, Highlands hasn't been challenged since the last time these 2 teams met 9 weeks ago. How will the starters react having to play all 4 quarters for the 1st time in 2 months?

Yeah, but, a lot of PTs yards are short, intermediate passes, then their athletes get many yards after catch. Especially Carter. He's the real deal, but, they also have others.

If Mayfield is fortunate enough to win it all, I'd venture to say, it'd be the toughest playoff path they've had to face of any other past Mayfield teams. If they're able to go through Murray, LCA, Beechwood and then O'Boro Cath , it'd be very well deserved,

I'm not willing to go so far as to say PT will beat Boyle in the title game, but, I do agree with your description about their team. They certainly could win it all, but, 4a class is a bear this year with numerous talented championship caliber teams. As talented as they are, they still tend to implode at times with self inflicted penalties or turnovers. You can't do that and expect to beat a Boyle or Cov Cath type team.

I think Somerset can play with them for awhile, but, in the end, OBC is the better team and will pull away for a 25-40 point win.

Here's my 2 cents, which is about all it's worth. IMO, LCA is the most talented team in 2a, but, not the best team. Their secondary and lack of overall team speed is a clear issue, OB Catholic is as explosive offensively as LCA is, but, better defensively. just, not as deep. Beechwood and Mayfield are the most complete teams. They're solid in all facets of the game. Plus, I think they're the best coached teams, which means a lot when, otherwise, it's a fine line comparison.

LCA was tough against the run, but, their secondary was very average, at best. Teams that can pass the ball give them trouble. They gave up a lot of points this year, but, came out okay because they could outscore you. The problem last night was the turnovers which took away a few of their scoring opportunities. Without those, it could have easily had a different outcome. They're a special team offensively, but, you have to be at least above average on both sides of the ball to win games against the elite teams or win the turnover battle, which they didn't do.

I thought this was about pound for pound, not who would win if they played. IMO, you would have to throw Male and Trinity out, since they're already in the biggest class, so, what bigger teams have they beaten? Even the 5a teams would be questionable. Do any of those teams consistently beat the upper level 6a teams?
