  4. I agree. Someone's gonna have to knock them off before I'd place anyone above them. They are currently on a level all by themselves.
  5. Disregard above. Here's my actual 2a rankings. 1 Beechwood 2 Owensboro Catholic 3 Mayfield 4 Lexington Christian Academy 5 Somerset 6 Murray 7 Green County 8 Monroe County 9 Crittenden County 10 Breathitt County Any other teams out there worth consideration? Who's too high, too low? Thoughts?

  7. You may be right. I do think BG was playing much better in the latter part of the season. I think they would have beaten LCA and B Station if they played them late.
  8. Better all around season, plus the head to head could have gone either way.
  9. I think I can do better than that. This would be mine: 1 BOYLE CO 2 TRINITY 3 MALE 4 CORBIN 5 F DOUGLASS 6 B GREEN 7 MAYFIELD 8 LCA 9 CAL 10 ST X 11 B STATION 12 OB CATH 13 COV CATH 14 PAD TILGHMAN 15 HIGHLANDS 16 COOPER 17 BALLARD 18 BEECHWOOD 19 FRANKLIN CO 20 MANUAL 21 S WARREN 22 ASHLAND 23 RYLE 24 LEX CATHOLIC 25 PIKEVILLE
  10. They'll have some talent and be pretty good. I really like there new coach. He likes to sling it around and get his playmakers in space and making plays. This is completely different from prior coach who believed in grinding it out 3 to 4 yards at a time. I've heard that several of the Calloway Co kids like there new philosophy and could make the move to Murray. If they do, they could be a lot better,
  11. In looking at the 22-23 enrollment reports, here's some potential big changes, depending on what next years enrollment looks like. OB Catholic is trending as one of the smaller 2a enrollments, so, they could possibly move down. Middlesboro is one of the largest 1a teams and could possibly move up. Belfry, as they currently sit, would move from 3a to 2a. Desales will likely move back to 3a in the next alignment. CAL is one of the lower enrollment 3a teams and could move back to 2a. SWarren will likely move up to 6a. Cov Cath is one of the larger 4a enrollments and could possibly move back to 5a. Cooper and D Heights are both on the 5a/6a border line.
  12. 2a will be just like this year with 4 really good teams plus Somerset could be primed to compete next year after a solid season with a very young team. You know LCA will reload, Atwell returns for OB Cath, so they'll be solid and if Mayfield can get decent QB play, they'll be tough again. I wouldn't crown anyone this early.
  13. Congrats to all who made it this far and especially to the 6 winners. I just wish there would have been more competitive games. 5 of 6 games were never really in doubt.
  14. Mayfield's defense has been pretty stout against the run, but, Beechwood and OB Catholic rarely ran the ball and LCA had Hensley which can skew the stats even if you're playing pretty well. I don't think Cov Cath could line up and beat a Mayfield with a primary running attack and there QB is nowhere in the league with Atwell, Boley or the kid from Beechwood. I also think Mayfield with overwhelm them with there skill players and balance of run and pass. I think Cooper would give them more problems than CC would.
  15. BOYLE CO TRINITY B GREEN B STATION MAYFIELD CAL COOPER OB CATH COV CATH PIKEVILLE BELL CO RACELAND
  16. Cov Cath just has a way too predictable offense. Very generic and add to that, no big time playmakers to stretch Boyles D. Not a bad team, but, terribly outclassed tonight.
  17. Both teams offenses are explosive and dynamic. OB Cath is a mirror image of Beechwood with prolific passing attacks, whereas, Mayfield can pass it or run it equally well and, to me, that's tougher to defend and the difference in the game.
  18. Mayfield actually moved the ball pretty well between the 20's in that game, but, were shut down when they got near the red zone. Their OL knocked Mayfield's DL off the ball all day and their RBs hit the holes as fast as anyone I've ever seen. Had us on our heels all day.
  19. What's his current size?
  20. Fryman was just a freshman? OMG
  21. I would assume Beechwood will have the same issue next year. It wouldn't be so bad if any of their other district teams were any good. They'll ptobably look to toughen up their non district, to offset it.
  22. Will the real #1 team please stand up? I was just sitting here thinking about the season and thought about all the twists and turns in the rankings this year. When the season kicked off, many people felt that Beechwood was #1 until someone knocked them from the throne, after 3 consecutive titles. Others felt Mayfield had the most returning and thought they should be at the top. Along comes LCA knocking off #1 in 5a Bowling Green. in the opening week and then it turned into a 3 way question with all of them well deserving. Along comes OB Catholic about 3 weeks in, knocking off Owensboro, Greenwood and Henderson Co in consecutive weeks and all of a sudden it becomes a 4 way question, with all followers having a legit claim to the top billing. As the season progressed, all 4 kept holding serve and not giving an inch. Just depended on which camp you were in. Different rating systems were all over the place. The only losses through the next 10 weeks were to Top tier 4a teams. LCA to Boyle, Beechwood to Cov Cath and Mayfield to Pad Tilghman with all 3 of those games being close that could have gone either way. In the meantime, OB Cath was punishing any and every one put in front of them, mostly in running clock fashion. The point I'm trying to make is in most seasons you have a clear cut #1 or at most only 2 or 3 teams that you may could make a legit case for and even in those years with more than a couple, they typically falter somewhere along the way by the end of the year. Not this year, not these 4 teams. Everyone of them continued to play impressive football till the very end of the season and into the early playoff rounds. You could pull there names out of a hat week to week in any order and no one could make much of an argument. Once these 4 started playing each other, it gets a little easier to rank them, but, I trully believe if these teams all played each other 10 times, they'd all end up 5-5, they're that close with each team having something to give them edge on the others. LCA had the Hensley factor, a D1 QB prospect, great size in the trenches and the most next level talent, then you have Beechwood with a precision passing game, great speed at the receiver position and about as fundamentally sound as you can get. Mayfield has the running/passing balance, athleticism and speed to burn all over the field with OBC having a prolific offense and an excellent defense and the only one to come out unscaved on the season. I'm not asking for anyone to give their opinions on the matter, but, feel free to do so if you wish. I'm just saying this has been as fun of a season as I can remember in a long, long time and really enjoyed the back and forth banter between all 4 of these fan bases. Great season to you all and much respect to your teams,
  23. I could easily see a high scoring game in the 40s or 50s even.
