  1. I agree. They outplayed them for a big portion of the game but give Pulaski credit. They did what good teams do, hung around and found a way to get it done.
  2. I have no problem with that. I think Murray, Glasgow, Lloyd, Bourbon and Lawrence are on that next tier behind the top 3.
  3. Bell Co showed me more in this loss than any of their previous wins. A 1 point loss to a top notch 5a team who's been playing very well the past month or so, is impressive. I had questions about how much of a contender they actually were, but, this game answered those questions. I'd say Bell is a top 2 or 3 team in 3a behind CAL and possibly Lex Cath, although I'd say them and Lex Cath are interchangeable.
  4. This should be a very competitive game. Both teams have played pretty well at times and also been average and generic in others. I think Caldwell is a little more talented and deeper, but, that will be offset by Hancock's home field advantage and better scheme and technique. I think I'll take the home field team by a TD or less..
  5. My bad. For some reason I thought Beechwood went ahead of Belfry in the rankings.
  6. The path to the championship for Mayfield looks very similar to the path they faced in 2023. They played LCA in the quarter finals, Beechwood in the semi's and OB Cath in the championship and it's very possible they could play those same 3 teams in that same order this year. The only difference is the LCA game would be on the road whereas they played it at home in '23.
  7. By the time Beechwood gets to the semi's, one of Mayfield or LCA will be out, which would put Beechwood no worse than 3rd of the 4 teams remaining, so, they would avoid the 1 seed, which is likely going to be OB Cath.
  8. Somerset continues to impress me. It'd be a mistake for one of the Big 5 to take this team lightly. They certainly have the talent and ability to pull off an upset or 2 and make a deeper run than most are expecting. What I like about these guys is their ability to run and pass equally well. Nice looking skill players and good size in the trenches.
  9. This Murray team is solid this year. Explosive offensively. Big and strong in the trenches, especially on the offensive side. Pretty good against the run defensively, but, I'll be curious to see how they will do against a good passing team. Regardless, you'll have to be able to score quite a few points if you expect to beat them. If they remain in the top 3 in RPI, they can avoid CAL till the finals and I'd give them a pretty good shot at making the championship game.
  10. Glad to see Calloway making some improvements this year. I hope they can continue that trajectory in the future.
  11. I've got a quick question if someone can answer it. If a district #2 or 3 seed is ranked higher in the RPI than a district winner and they were to play in the quarter finals, would the higher RPI be the home team or would being a district champion take precedence over the RPI rank? Thanks in advance.
  12. IMO, the Jackets have been flying under the radar all year. This win should show that they're capable of beating these top 1a teams on any given night. Hope they do well in the playoffs and make a deep run.
  13. I'm a little surprised by this result. I thought McCracken would have too much offense for Graves.
  14. I think it's time people start taking this Atherton team serious. Throw out the lack of history and schedule, this teams D will keep them in every game they may play.
  15. B'wood will have to travel to LCA or Mayfield in the semi's, which will be a tough win, either way and if they are fortunate enough to get through that one, a very good OC or Belfry in the finals. Again, another great challenge. They may well win it all, but, it'll be far from smooth sailing. It'll be a great challenge w/o a doubt.
  16. I know PTs defense has had several key injuries on the defensive side of the ball. Are any or all of these players back healthy now, if needed? I don't worry about the offense, but, they've shown some flaws on D this year. If they have these guys back heathy, this is a very dangerous team.
  17. The Purples will have to play better offensively than they have for most of the season if they expect to come away with a win. I'm not real sure what Franklin will be able to put together offensively, but, I'd expect they'll put together 2 or 3 scores minimum. The question is, can they contain BG well enough to make those points stand up.
  18. Fortunately, all the other contenders are basically running into that same scenario.
  19. Mayfield has been on cruise control the past 4 weeks. On one hand, it has allowed them to get healthy and build some depth, but, they need to get tested before they face the strong teams late in the playoffs. I hope next weeks game with Central will give them a decent challenge. They should be getting England back in the fold pretty soon, which is a huge boost, as long as he doesn't return hesitant to go 100% after the injury. I expect them to come out and dominate early and often this week. I'll be surprised if the Falcons stay within 40.
  20. I'm not sure being ahead of Belfry in the RPI is an advantage. I think I would prefer going to OBC vs going to Mayfield or LCA in the semifinals. To me, it's a wash, at best, either way.
  21. Most likely, if Mayfield beats LCA then Beechwood will have to go to OB Cath in the semi's with Belfry taking that long haul to Mayfield in the other semi. If LCA beats Mayfield, LCA will travel to Pond Creek to take on Belfry, but, either way it would appear the Beechies will be on the road to play the Aces. That's a pretty tough semi opponent. Then knocking off a Mayfield, Belfry or LCA in the finals will be a tough road whoever you happen to meet. Basically what I'm saying is it won't be a cake walk to win it.
  22. I just don't see Beechwood being on any level above the other 4. I think 1-5 are interchangeable. They've played 1 good team all year and were soundly beaten. The rest of their schedule have been against weak to middle of the road opponents, at best. They're certainly one of the teams to beat, but, no more so than the others in that top 5 tier imo.
  23. I agree, but, I do still consider that Breathitt win a pretty good one. What does Williamsburg's team look like this year.?
  24. Middlesboro may be the best 1a team in the state, but, doesn't get much credit across the state. they score points in bunches and their D is stingy. I see this one getting out of hand by the time it's all said and done. M'boro 47 W'burg 21
  25. I see LCA having their way in this one. The Ads will stick around for a half or so, but, LCA pulls away in the 2nd half.. 42-14.
