District 7 Championship on the line this week here. Middlesboro sits at 6-0 on the season and since entering district play they have yet to give up a touchdown. This defense is only allowing just over 9 points per game. The offense is averaging over 48 points per game.  Junior Quarterback Deacon Partin has thrown for close to 1,000 yards and 16 touchdowns with 0 interceptions on the season. The defense has a total of 16 takeaways on the season with 8 fumble recoveries, and 8 interceptions 3 of those interceptions have been returned for touchdowns. 

Williamsburg comes into this matchup at 4-2 on the season with losses to Paris and Sayre. Both losses came on the road. They lost to Paris 36-32, and lost to Sayre 41-16. Williamsburg only played 1 game the month of  September. They picked up a forfeit win against Frankfort the week before the Sayre game. Williamsburg is looking to win the district in back to back years as they won it last year. Middlesboro won it 2023. Williamsburg was preseason favorite to win the district to start the season, but seems that has faded since Middlesboro opened up the season with huge win against Breathitt County and have since remained undefeated as well at 6-0. This is huge game to get two home games for the playoffs. 
 

Who wins the district championship? Does Middlesboro keep the undefeated season going? Does Williamsburg make it two in row district championships?

Middlesboro may be the best 1a team in the state, but, doesn't get much credit across the state. they score points in bunches and their D is stingy. I see this one getting out of hand by the time it's all said and done.

The problem is their schedule has been really bad. Calpreps rates their schedule 25th in Class 1A. Part of that is Breathitt County not being as good as normal (and Middlesboro gave up 36 points in that game) and their game with Garrard County (a solid, middle of the road 3A team) was canceled due to storms. I'm with you, I think they roll Williamsburg. I'll be more interested in how they look against Sayre, a team most consider very solid but also not necessarily a 1A contender. If Middlesboro romps in that one, then maybe the Jackets are for real.

I agree, but, I do still consider that Breathitt win a pretty good one. What does Williamsburg's team look like this year.?

I haven’t seen them. However, looking at their schedule they played Paris close early in defeat then took a good beating from Sayre. It seems like every year their schedule is incomplete (8 or 9 total games) and we just never get a good read on the Jackets.

Williamsburg is always a dangerous team to watch out for. They are about always gonna have a good quarterback throwing the ball and sometimes he is always a key weapon with his legs. The same goes for this year.  They returned a very good core and very capable of winning this game. The only problem is they seem to only play about 2 quarters of the game and it’s always in the second half after being/getting down.  Williamsburg will need all 4 quarters in this one.
