🐯 Caldwell County (6-4)
vs.
🐝 Hancock County (7-3, 2A #10)

🗞 Tigers Try To Stir Up A Hornet's Nest

Caldwell’s mixture of defensive deficiencies and ability to score in all three phases of the game lends a heavy dose of potential drama to their clash with Hancock.

Anything could happen on any given snap.

The Tigers have forced 25 turnovers and scored eight non-offensive touchdowns this year, including four kick returns. When they get their claws on the ball, they're sniffing the endzone.

The Hornets take a more measured approach. They like to pound the rock at eight yards per carry with a backfield that runs four deep. They've also been the far more consistent team, defensively. Running the ball and playing sound defense…. not a bad recipe for success in November.

I’ll take the Tigers in this one. Their Qb is a joystick. Fun to watch and very elusive.

Hancock 21

This should be a very competitive game. Both teams have played pretty well at times and also been average and generic in others. I think Caldwell is a little more talented and deeper, but, that will be offset by Hancock's home field advantage and better scheme and technique. I think I'll take the home field team by a TD or less..

I'm surprised at the score in this one. I predicted Hancock to take it, but, more on the 7 point range. Maybe Hancock is a little better than I thought or Caldwell's a little weaker than I thought or maybe the combination of the 2. If Hancock plays their A game and Mayfield has an off game or more turnovers than normal, could Hancock compete and possibly even upset the Cardinals?

I don’t think so. I will be surprised if Hancock is able to keep it from a running clock. Against OC they didn’t complete a pass. They had some success running the ball, especially against the OC JV. I don’t think they can come in with same gameplan against Mayfield.

Mayfield will be extremely hard to beat with just a run game. The Cards have been very stingy against the run all year. Pad Tilghman even had less than 100 yards rushing against them.
