DragonFire Posted October 13 Posted October 13 Class 2A 1. Beechwood 2. Lexington Christian Academy 3. Owensboro Catholic 4. Mayfield 5. Belfry 6. Somerset 7. Monroe County 8. Prestonsburg 9. Danville 10. Hancock County
theguru Posted October 13 Posted October 13 I think I like Beechwood in 2A but nothing would surprise me from the top five teams. 1
Cobraxx Posted October 13 Posted October 13 I think Beechwood has to be the favorite until proven otherwise. They have shown nothing so far that makes me believe they are not the favorite. If anything, I thing they have reinforced why they are #1. 2-5 are interchangable.
jeff jackson Posted October 13 Posted October 13 I just don't see Beechwood being on any level above the other 4. I think 1-5 are interchangeable. They've played 1 good team all year and were soundly beaten. The rest of their schedule have been against weak to middle of the road opponents, at best. They're certainly one of the teams to beat, but, no more so than the others in that top 5 tier imo. 1

TheBallCoach Posted October 14 Posted October 14 I'll continue rolling with Belfry until proven otherwise though I agree anybody in the top five has a chance. The Monroe County/Somerset matchup this week should be a fun one. Every time I've questioned the Ads this season they have not failed to show me that I know nothing. Coach Stonebreaker must really be working some magic, LCA will be a tough ask this Friday. Assuming the Eagles win, I'm interested to see how far they drop in RPI, Danville is sitting at #2 as of today.
83wildcatFB Posted October 14 Posted October 14 I still stand by my earlier statements that Beechwood is on another level. I think Belfry, Mayfield, OCath, LCA, and even Somerset could be in any order after that. I would probably only give LCA a shot at Beechwood but it would take a monumental effort. 1
Bac2369 Posted October 14 Posted October 14 How many times in the past few years have people doubted a Beechwood team and they go and win the title? If I’m remembering correctly they won it more times than they haven’t. 1
jeff jackson Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Most likely, if Mayfield beats LCA then Beechwood will have to go to OB Cath in the semi's with Belfry taking that long haul to Mayfield in the other semi. If LCA beats Mayfield, LCA will travel to Pond Creek to take on Belfry, but, either way it would appear the Beechies will be on the road to play the Aces. That's a pretty tough semi opponent. Then knocking off a Mayfield, Belfry or LCA in the finals will be a tough road whoever you happen to meet. Basically what I'm saying is it won't be a cake walk to win it.
Oldercoach Posted October 14 Posted October 14 15 hours ago, Voice of Reason said: It will be all about matchups. Is it safe to say the Beechwood coaching staff has unspoken challenges getting this team playoff ready? Surprisingly weak opponent records bring into question if they are ready for late game competition? Running clocks with regulars playing less than half games could bring into question endurance. Quick strike TDs sews questions about maintaining late game drives/clock management. Just saying BW’s excellent staff has to prepare the Tigers in ways most rarely do. 1

I think almost everyone believes they are the favorite, some of us believe they are the heavy favorite. I do see people saying they believe other teams have a shot but I just don't see that as doubting Beechwood.

I don't see an easy path for anyone. In the past Owensboro Catholic has had a "cake walk" to the finals. This year they may see Somerset 3rd round, Beechwood semi finals and LCA, Mayfield or Belfry in the Finals. Tougher road from the past couple years. The talent isn't quite the same either on Parrish Ave. like it's been the last couple of years.
