The State Championship is almost among us. But First we have the Final 4 of Class 1A.

The First matchup will feature the 11-2 Kentucky Country Day Bearcats vs. The 10-3 Raceland Rams.

Kentucky Country Day and Raceland both come in averaging close to 34 points per game and is giving up 18 points per game.
These teams on paper appear to be mirror images of one another. But the real question is are they? Who wins this battle for a chance at the state title appearance? Does Kentucky Country Day make its return trip since 2020? Does the Rams have unfinished Business and make it back to its 2nd straight State Finals appearance?

I think that Raceland gets it done. It could be interesting through the first half and a little into the second half. I look for Raceland to wear KCD more as the game goes on. Good luck to both teams.

I don't see the image of Ashland, Highlands, and Lexington Christian in KCD's mirror. Even though losing to these teams rewarded Raceland with road games in the playoffs via RPI, they are now reaping the benefits on the field. KCD appears to be a quality team, Raceland is just too much this season.

All credit to KCD forthe improvement they have made over the past 5 years or so, but right now  I believe Raceland is too battle-tested, both in the regular season and play-offs, and they come out with the win.

I said it at the beginning of the year. That Covington Holy Cross preseason ranking of being in the top 10 still baffles me lol

With that said I think this will be close in the first half, and then Raceland pulls away to win comfortably in the second half.

Anyone know if KCDa starting running back is playing in this one? He has yet to play in the playoffs. Any details would be greatly appreciated.

The margins at the top of 1A are slimmer this season, but I'm not ready to make an argument for an upset here. As was previously mentioned, season long preparation falls heavily in favor of Raceland. They've had their limitations tested and recalibrated by superior opponents all year. More often than not, that shows up this time of year.

I think Raceland grinds out a methodical two score win behind a running game that will throw some big bodies at KCD. Lundy, Wallace, Heighton - no easy tackles there.
