O-Cath With One Final Test To Ace Before A Date With Destiny

Records: Somerset (10-3) | O-Cath (13-0)

BGP 2A Rankings: Somerset (#5) | O-Cath (#3)

Round 3 Results: Somerset beat Shelby Valley | O-Cath beat Green County

Series History: First ever meeting

Teaser Preview: It takes a special team to be taken seriously as a 2A contender and have your name thrown around in the same sentence as Beechwood and Mayfield.

Owensboro Catholic looks right at home in that conversation. The Aces have the firepower to take your breath away. Brady Atwell alone is reason enough to fear their capabilities. He gets most of the ink, but the Carrico brothers, Noah Rhinerson, Waryn Ebelhar, and Barrett Evans provide the nucleus for an A+ supporting cast in various roles.

Clay Clevenger gets a similar passing grade in his first year on the Somerset sideline. The Briar Jumpers were 8-15 over the previous two years before enduring the loss of a beloved coach. Clevenger has proven the best case scenario hire, turning in a “coach of the year” caliber job. Nine points is all that separates the Jumpers from matching O-Cath's unbeaten record.

Kam Hughes is enjoying one of the great rushing seasons in school history and the defense is in fine form after stifling a high octane Shelby Valley offense.

Atwell is having an all-time season by anyone's standard. He and the Aces will be a different animal. Owensboro Catholic projects a no nonsense, all business attitude that doesn't lend itself to slow starts. They'll come at the Jumpers fast.

Don’t get out over your skies they may win  but running clock idk about that Somerset defense is pretty good they have lost 3 games by a total 9 points atwell is having a hell of a year no doubt about it but Somerset IMO is very underrated and over looked their QB Bruner does a good job running the game he has 1487 passing yards and 324 yard rushing . Kam Hughes has 1899 yards rushing and 255 receiving while his little brother a sophomore kris Hughes has 714 rushing and 511 receiving. They all play both sides of the ball and are really good defensive wise also. Clay clevenger is a master game planner he can put a game together to maybe disrupt them or slow the game down to stay in it. Either way I am proud of what they have accomplished this year nobody gave them a chance from day one when clevenger got the job and he was introduced to the parents guy Bailey mom was at the event and told him directly that guy was going to Corbin and she told several of the parents she wanted to see them and guy’s friends at Kroger field in December wearing a Corbin shirt supporting guy. So ther has been great satisfaction outlasting Corbin. Not to mention she also was behind the twins going with him to Corbin.

No offense, but they beat our Devils with Atwell feet. He is a huge playmaker when things breakdown.

If Somerset doesn’t have fast DL then they are in trouble.

Somerset has made a great run and will be a team to beat in the future but for now it’s all Aces.

Planning on going to this one. I have a logistics question for Owensboro folks: what is the parking situation at the stadium? I'm taking my dad who is having some issues with his foot and I don't want him to have to walk too far. Is the parking relatively close or should I drop him off and then go find a spot?

Somerset does have fast DL and very fast safety we are defiantly the underdog. Hoping for the best but satisfied either way

It's like reading these posts that Somerset is done... Not a lot of confidence.

The field is at Kentucky Wesleyan College on the main street in Owensboro (Frederica).  There are a couple of parking lots, and I think they park on the grass around KWC and around the nearby neighborhoods.  I would probably drop him off, find a spot and come meet back up - but a Catholic fan may tell you better.  I'd say you are within a couple hundred yards of the field no matter where you park.  There is usually a couple different points of entry but its been a few years since I attended a game there.

#21 below - you'll see the lights as you look to your left heading northward.

I would drop him off on the college drive entrance. There is a ticket booth there and then you can park in the parking lot by the softball field. They won’t allow parking on the side streets. He could wait for you at the gate!!

There is an entrance on College Drive right off of Frederica that you could drop him off at and then you could circle back to the lot where the KWC Softball field is.  The lot is only about 100-200 yards away from the gate if you think he could walk that.

If you get there later and that lot looks full, there is a building that used to be a church at 3300 Frederica that I park in sometimes and walk around the building that has access to College Drive on the backside.  You can just walk around the building and it ends up pretty close to that gate as well.  Hope that is as clear as mud for you guys!
