Amazing to think that if UK scores just 25 points in every game they would be 10-1 with the only loss being the blowout to Tennessee. Seemed like all year things were made to be harder than they needed to be offensively.

Time to refresh for the Birds. Lucky to be 9-14 at half. Like @El Diablo said, this should be much, much worse. But that is why they play two halves. I would really like to see the Birds keep pounding the ball down hill early in the series and stretch the field to Class, Noon, and Matteoli when you have short yardage and early downs. Those three need more touches. Some interesting decisions from the young Sphire in the first half... The Birds D has done a solid job, especially considering the positions they have been put in. I still really, really worry about the CBs though.

I absolutely think Class is. Especially at this point in the year and the body of work he has put in this year. I was just referencing what I saw on the field at the beginning of the year. To me it it was Noon and Matteoli then other guys rotating. Either way a lot of talent out wide!

Not trying to anoint anyone, just saying that he is a very Impactful player. He was the number 2 receiver behind Noon to start the year but broke his collarbone (maybe week 2 or 3?). With the way Class and Hinegardner are playing, plus obviously Noon, there is a lot of weapons at WR. Really excited about this matchup! Go Birds!

SC's offense is not a traditional triple option offense but they absolutely do run read option very well and use a ton of misdirection that can get defenses in trouble if they have their eyes in the backfield rather than their keys.

The Cardinals make their way to David Cecil Memorial stadium in round two. Both teams handled their first round opponents. Who wins and why? Two interesting notes on the game (at least to me): 1. HHS saw the return of Matteo Matteoli last night. Matteo has game changing potential and forces teams to take some attention off of Charlie Noon. I am interested to see how he is used in round 2. 2. Scott Co. brings in one of the more difficult offenses in the state to defend. The Birds defense will have lock in and read their "keys" and not get caught up in the window dressing of the option offense or we could see a shoot out in Ft. Thomas.

Wow. Little extreme reaction to what I said, eh Deuce? I usually don't see that out of you. I am not sure how it could be taken that I feel like everyone should be "given a ribbon" out of what I said. If a team earns a spot in the playoffs, no matter what the record, they should be able to play the game. I was simply saying that it doesn't hurt anything to let the games be played. The whole premise of the playoffs is NOT giving everyone a "ribbon".

It may be bad football at times, and I might be in the minority, but kids have a very finite amount of opportunities to suit up and play football. I am all for playing as many games as possible; especially in football where you practice all year long and only get a maximum of 15 opportunities to actually play. An old coach of mine used to say that you have to be a little crazy to want to do all this work to only play such a small number of games. I can't imagine there are many grown men out there that got whipped in the first round of the playoffs in high school and say "I really wish I wouldn't have played that game".

I fly once, sometimes twice, a month two the west coast; usually CVG to SAN. I agree 100% standing in the isle as soon as the plane lands drives me nuts. They always end up in the way. Stinky food guy is another good one. I have a new one for you... on two separate instances recently I have been seated next to younger people (probably early 20s?) and it drove me crazy hearing their music through their headphones as they slept. I usually listen to audiobooks or podcasts on planes and I could hear their music through their headphones even with my AirPods in for the entire flight. I have no clue how listening to music that loud is enjoyable. If it happens again, I will definitely be asking them to turn it down.

I am as big of a Charlie fan out there and support any creative way (like you described) to get him the ball as much as possible. However, let's not put expectations/comparisons like this on the young man. Nothing good comes from that because you and I both know that it just isn't true - he is not as dynamic as Alexander. Shaun Alexander is a NFL Hall of Fame member. Let's enjoy that fact that we have a special talent leading our Birds without putting questionable expectations/comparisons on him.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any HHS sophomores who start varsity anymore. I know there was one on the OL early in the year but I do not believe he is anymore. A couple get snaps here and there but HHS is very much Jr. and Sr. driven.

Totally agree with everything you said. He is also a great DE! Super high motor that doesn't quit. So happy to see him be healthy and able to show what he is capable of.
