Traveling Pet Peeves

Featured Replies

So, I fly, a lot.  Thank God people stoped clapping when the plane lands and we didn't die.  But, one of the things that bugs me the most is that as soon as the plane stops moving and the seatbelt sign dings off, people jump up and starting crowding everyone.  Sit the heck down and wait for them to at least open the dang door before you start itching to get off the plane.  Then, Level II bung holes are the ones that think because they were the first one to stand that they can run to the front of the plane and be first off.

Seriously, what happened to people having the slightest bit of decorum?

What are your traveling pet peeves?

Agree with the above, I like delta unloading front and back at cvg on the 737s, one thing that bugs me, and I work at cvg, is people in checkpoint with their tickets in their mouth or their license while the get something out if their carry on, then hand ticket to TSA agent, seriously, that's just crazy.

I’ve never been on a flight where they also unload from the back. That would be awesome.

Delta at cvg is one of a few airports that are trying it in a trial run, they pull in almost like a car would and use two gates to unload , can only do it in the larger planes, hope it sticks around.

Simple flying.com/delta has articles on it.

I've heard people taking about it, but I haven't been on one of those flights either.

I never understood why they board the plane in sections, but de-boarding is a free-for-all.  Just deplane in sections and save people the aggravation.

Airplane etiquette dictates row one de-planes first, followed by row two, ect.  Why would anyone think row 17 gets to de-plane first?

Usually because the guy in Row 17 is an extra special important business dude.  Rules don't apply to him.

Those extra special important types always make me think that if they were THAT special they wouldn’t be flying commercial. ?

Nailed it. This annoys me as well. The people who drag the obviously too large bag onto the plane, and then take 10 minutes to load it up top and get themselves situated while holding the rest of us up from boarding are annoying as well.

We fly Southwest a lot, so this one is isolated to that airline.

They board by zones A, B, C and then numerically within the zones. The earlier you check in, the higher zone/number you get. Never fails, someone who is in the last boarding group (who likely didn't check in at all before they got to the airport) makes a big deal about not being able to sit with who they are flying with.

Compared to your average traveler I'm on a plane quite often. The above-mentioned pet peeves are good ones and grate on my nerves. What you most notice at airports is how clueless some people are. And I hate to hammer on them to much because many folks don't fly often and it can be a stressful situation if not accustomed to it. Other nominees:

- The guy that loves to hear himself talking on his bluetooth about an important work project while sitting at the gate.

- Stinky food person that brings out Panda Express mid-flight from their backpack.

- When de-planing having to hear Karen alert the entire plan she has another flight to catch (in 85 minutes) so she needs to get through. Yeah, half the plane has another flight to catch.

Definitely agree here. We probably fly maybe 2-3x a year, so not a lot. But over the years flying has become routine for us. I have to take a minute and realize a lot of people have literally never seen the inside of an airport, much less are familiar enough to actually know what they are doing.
