I believe the only way to watch the game tonight is through PrepSpin. I hope I am wrong about that but I am pretty sure that is the case. I am excited to see the combo/rotation upfront for HHS of Studer, Bryant, Merz, Fassler, Schweitzer, and Johnson. Some big boys there that should really be able to move people. This could be shaping up to be the best rushing team HHS has had in a long time. -

Interested to hear how the AD dropped the ball on a MS game... -
The fact that Ryle has put over 50 kids into college programs is awesome! However, one could argue, that by putting all those kids in college football programs, that further proves @TheConch's point that Ryle wastes the most talent in NKY.

Benke, IMO, is the straw that stirs the drink; as he goes, the Birds go. There is a lot of QB talent behind him, especially in Litmer, but he needs some seasoning. I would expect both to see a lot of time AT THE SAME TIME. Hayden Sphire has a lot of talent to work with and I hope he makes it work. In terms of Class, I hope to see him get some interest. Unfortunately, 6'1-6'2 WRs who have above average speed are commonplace today. I would argue that Carson may be better suited at the next level on defense. He does have some of the best hands I've seen at the high school level. -
One of the reasons I admire the historical and current success Beechwood has had is that they have done it without a ton of "D1" talent. Attempting to call them out for lack of success at the next level is beyond absurd. A lot happens between high school ball and college ball. Are you really trying to judge a programs success by the success of players at the next level?

We are little over a week away from the regular season opener. The Birds will travel to Lex Cath this year and the Knights will return the favor next year. These two programs have had some great battles in the past and it is good to see them back to scheduling each other. One of the obvious story lines is Coach Bob Sphire returning to the Lex Cath sidelines; just on the opposite side this time. Who wins and why? Who/what are you most interested in seeing out of the Birds and Knights? Go Birds!

Male at Highlands 8/4 Scrimmage Updates

That makes a lot of sense. As I said there is a lot of talent there so I anticipate a lot of production from that group. -

Agreed. That is the thing I was most excited about from last night. Being great upfront allows you to do so many things to win games. As for Male, they did not look like the Male I am used to seeing. Could be a down year for them or maybe Wolf and Co. are keeping things close to the vest and worked/ran specific things they wanted to work on. I have heard that HHS stayed almost completely healthy. Hopefully, the same can be said for the Bulldogs. -

Disappointing to see the WR group struggling. That room has a crazy amount of talent; hopefully, they get it together. Totally agree regarding the run game. This is the best OL I have seen HHS have since Dale was roaming the sidelines. HUGE guys that have clearly put in a lot of work in the weight room - refreshing to see. Merz is a stud. I would look for him to get a lot of interest from colleges in the near future. -
2023 Bellevue Tigers
Kenny Powers replied to Colonels_Wear_Blue's topic in KY Football (High School)
Any idea what the numbers are for Bellevue? I have no connection to Bellevue but I have always rooted for them and Dayton. I love the small town football feel and how their communities traditionally back their teams! -
Yes, he has. He was in Hoover as well. My guess, knowing Brody, is that he is doing all of the above at the same time.

Noted. You too!

No, you are not spitting facts. You are making a biased assumption that Stoops and Co. recruit players with bad character when in fact these same things happen at every single university across the country.
-
No one would disagree with the fact that the players who made these mistakes are adults according to the the law and made poor decisions. No one would also disagree that the players, and anyone for that matter, have ways to avoid these mistakes. The problem with your argument is that you clearly are trying to blame and criticize Stoops and Morrow for the decisions that, unfortunately, countless 18+ individuals make on a yearly basis. You are painting a program with a very broad brush based on the actions of a few; that, to me, is an ignorant decision.

I thought that was the case. The reason I asked was because with Willie's wrestling background, overall athleticism, and size (not being totally on par with SEC TEs), I could see him playing LB at the next level. By no means am I saying he couldn't play TE in the SEC, but UK has a need at LB and Willie's athleticism for a LB doesn't grow on trees and UK has a packed TE room. Just a thought...

You all have been together for 11.5 years so you may already have figured this out, but create very reasonable and rationale boundaries with your family and your wife's family (holidays, time spent together, coming over, advice, etc.). If they do not like it; they can get over it; in my experience they grumble for a short period and it quickly passes. Your priority is you and her (and future kids, should you go that route), not your original family or her original family.
