The New Richmond Lions (Ohio Div IV) crossed the I-275 bridge at Coney Island and came to Alexandria for a first-ever encounter with our Brossart Mustangs. The two teams played even up basketball in the first quarter with Brossart on top 22-18 after eight minutes. New Richmond overtook the home team and opened a 38-31 short-lived lead with just over two minutes remaining in the half, when the home team caught fire, outscored the Lions 20-3, and took a 10 point, 51-41 advantage to the locker room at halftime. The Mustangs maintained the lead at 63-58 after three periods when Lions Senior Grant Hess took over, scoring 20 second half points , rallying his team past the homestanding Mustangs for the 84-74 victory. Hess finished with 29 points to take game scoring honors. Brady Young and Anthony Wolf put up 17 each, and Preston Dykes added 14. New Richmond improves to 6-3. Hot shooting Mustang sophomore, Drew Steffen, whose 10 second quarter tallies were largely responsible for our late first half rally, led the Mustangs with 15, along with Parker Mulberry. Beckett Kuntz added 14 and Alex Combs 12. The Mustangs fall to 5-3, and will await Louisville Southern to tip-off the new year at 2;30pm on Thursday, January 2nd in Alexandria.

I predict that I won't be watching since it is another "Streaming Exclusively On Netflix".

Mustangs much the best in Brooksville on this night. Brossart opened a 33-7 lead and were never threatened as we improve to 5-2. Mustangs had five players score double-figures led by Ben Doyle with 17. Parker Mulberry, who hit six three-pointers in the second half 24 hours before at Holmes, connected on four more of them in Brooksville, while contributing 16. Sophomore Brady Boruske had a bust-out game with 15, and Carson Heese came from off of the bench to add 10. Noah Nelson led the Polar Bears with 22 points. Brossart lays off over Christmas and will host New Richmond (OH) on Friday, December 27th. Bracken County goes to the City of Beautiful Homes this Friday night where they will take on the Highlands Bluebirds.

Brossart's Parker Mulberry hit six 3-Pointers in the second half, to lead all scorers with 25. I will echo allsport71's comment that both teams played hard.

I was impressed with Dixie. They do a lot of things well, including guarding in the half-court. Brossart led 19-7 out of the gate in this one, and I was beginning to think that we simply played at a higher leel, than did the Lady Colonels. Bad Observation. Just seconds prior to the end of the period, Dixie scored a bucket, and then another on a Brossart turnover, triggering an 18-2 run that would give them a 25-21 lead, which would become 31-26 at halftime. Still confident that we would right the ship and win, I witnessed Dixie go on a 7-0 run to start the second half, and it was all downhill from there.

Mustangs rebound nicely from the fourth quarter implosion suffered 24 hours prior vs Beechwood in Fort Mitchell. Down 26-23 at the half, and 33-28 just prior to the end of the third quarter, Parker Mulberry and Brady Boruske hit momentum threes plus a pair of Dom Hadden Free-throws, giving the Mustangs a 38-34 lead with eight minutes to play in the game. In the fourth quarter it was the (Sophomore) Drew Steffen Show, as he uncorked a trio of 3-pointers, a pair of layups and two charity tosses, to give his team the 59-48 win on Friday night in Alexandria. Steffen was the leading scorer with 15 (all scored in the 4th Quarter), Dom Hadden and Alex Combs contributed 11 apiece as the Mustangs improve to 2-1 heading to Villa on Monday night, and hosting Holy Cross on Wednesday next week. Landon Pund topped he DeSales scoring effort with 14, and Cameron Bischoff tacked on 11 as the Colts fall to 1-2.

Tied at 44-44 with just seconds remaining in the third quarter, Beechwood goes on a 9-0 run to establish a 53-44 lead starting the fourth quarter, and then run away and hide, outscoring our Mustangs 28-11 in the finale. Tiger Jack Sullivan led all scorers with 24. Brossart's Dom Hadden was perfect on the night, hitting everything h put up, checking in with 22. Ben Doyle was our other double-figure scorer with 12. Sullivan was complimented by Owen MCormack with 15, Ayden Way with 14, and Cason Blackburn added 13. Beechwood improves to 2-0, while the Mustangs fall to .500 at 1-1. Brossart will be right back at it Friday night hosting a tripleheader with Louisville DeSales.

Nine Mustangs, led by Ben Doyle with 15 points, lay over their Division III opponent, Dayton Greendevils 76-51. Marquel Kennedy led the visitors with 18. The Mustangs led 23-14, 40-21, 64-34 and 76-51 at the quarter stops. Brossart heads to DivII Beechwood on Thursday. Dayton goes to Nicholas County. It was good to see my old friend Danny Frank still keeping the book for Dayton. Frank is one of the few guys in Northern Kentucky to have been around this game longer than I have.

I'm not going to question a lot of what the Reds are doing this off season since they hired Terry Francona, who wouldn't have taken this job if he didn't see some potential to do great things. India was one of the guys who I would have attempted to build my "Championship Caliber" team around. While I didn't care for India's persona, I did like his baseball, and feel that he was stuck in a bad situation. I do hope that we settle on a 40-50 man roster, instead of washing 70 different players through the clubhouse. Being involved in team sports over the past 50 years, I am convinced that no team chemistry can be established under those conditions. I'll take a wait and see stance.

I will be shocked, and happy were they to pull this off, at no additional cost to we Altafiber subscribers. My experience with Altafiber is that they drop channels, I.e., the Paramount channels, and then send these notices out on a regular basis saying that they are "negotiating." Whatever transpires, I do hope that we are provided the ability to watch the Reds in 2025 without being money-gouged by these "providers."

With the change in various aspects of the game from the player being charged with the Technical, and now it becoming a Team Technical raises the question to if this is now charged to the Head Coach?

Man it would have been great for Coach Wiggins and the Cats to have gotten this one. Congratulations on an outstanding season. I'm sure the kids and community are proud of your accomplishments, when there were really no expectations coming into this season. Happy and Heartbroken for you.

I am only a causal Bengals fan, so don't take me too seriously. It just seems to me like he was the veteran, who was a key part of the success that we have had in the past. Each game I watch, I just have the feeling that we lack a "Go To" running back.

Our Running Game went to Houston.

I also said that the interception would not have changed the outcome. NCC was the better team tonight. I further stated that I wouldn't live to see it. NCC has a storied past dating back to when they won the first of 25 District Championships in 1965. They netted 14 Regional Titles and five KHSAA State Championships, with the most recent being in class AA in 2012. I am stating that they have had their hay day, while our Football Program didn't start until 2007, and with our logistical advantage and success in the younger ranks, I feel that our best days are certainly in front of us.

Brossart had two opportunities for early game momentum. The first a very near interception on the opening drive, and the second a loose ball fumble that the Breds recovered. These would not have changed the outcome, NCC was the better team tonight, and I agree they dominated the line and only flags created negative yardage situations, but I do think that interception or recovered fumble may have narrowed the margin and perhaps instilled some early game confidence. The Breds are a very good Class 1A football team. I'd like to see them play Sayre. It think that would be a great game. In my first time seeing the Breds this season I was impressed with the poise and confidence of Junior QB Miles, the speed of Collopy and the tough yardage ability of Coles. For us, Cam Mandel did what Cam Mandel does, doing the best he could to gain yardage. It wasn't easy. Cam was obviously no stranger to the Breds defense who knew we would count on him. He scored both of our touchdowns, one being a 75 yard footrace up the sideline to paydirt. He graduates as our school recordholder for Most Rushing Touchdowns in a Season. Our placekicker, SoccerStang, Max Runge was two for two tonight on PATs, bringing his season total to 53 for 55. Our Mustangs close the book on the 2024 season at 9-3, with much work still to be done, as evidenced tonight. Our cumulative score over our four game all-time series is Breds 238 to 14. I will not live to see it but I do sincerely believe that there will come a time when the Brossart Mustangs will overcome this deficit and take the lead - but just not quite yet. Congratulations to Coach Wiggins and the Wildcats!!! Tom Reckner, now on the Newport staff, came into Barleycorn's tonight, walking on air, fired up and proud of the Newport Wildcats. He picked up his carryout and headed home to watch film. Coach Wiggins has done an incredible job in his first season. I wish him nothing but success continuing on in the playoffs, and in the years to come.

Would someone explain to me in "Old-Man English" what this means to me. I sure more money out of my pocket. We have discussed the continued expanded money-grabbing in other threads. I'm sure that this is more of the same. Hopefully, wherever they land, it will be without John Sadek and "Our Captain" Barry Larkin. Insert "Throwing Up" emoji I have Alta-Fiber, which is also awful, and for which I pay $175 monthly for cable and internet.so what will I need to do to watch them???

I'm going to be wise and maintain a low profile here while hoping for the best. We have come a long way since our 2A days when the BB-NCC games were "formality" games. NewCath has a long storied football history, and I feel that their program has benefitted greatly from that tradition in comparison to our 17 year history. We are a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, as are our primary feeders. We have a Football/Soccer/Track and soon to be Baseball/Softball Complex in place, and our Middle School and Junior Varsity football programs have experienced recent history success against the Breds. We are certainly on the right track and I feel we will surpass the Breds in time. I'm hoping for a competitive football game in Crestview Hills Friday night. Listen live via BMustangs.com
