Ravens 35 Bengals 34

Featured Replies

Final a tough loss no call on a defensive holding on the 2 point conversion and a hit to the head on Burrow that was not called. Ravens sweep the season series again and the Bengals fall to 4-6.

I don't get too caught up in calls or non calls by refs, but that is just one example of 3 or 4 non calls of hits on Burrow last night. The worst one IMO was after a Burrow pass Humphreys taking 2 ste

Ugh. I like Taylor’s aggressiveness tonight. The two point conversion failed, but I’m not mad that he went for it there.

Two plays changed this whole game. First Chase Brown’s fumble. The Bengals were up 14 and had the ball. That fumble got the Ravens back into it. Then the Bengals not knocking the guy out of bounds giving up that long touchdown. Those two plays completely changed the momentum.

In the NFL it shows how small the margin of error is. The Bengals were basically one play away in the Chiefs, and both Raven games from winning the game. Very easily could be 7 and 3 right now with three wins combined against two of the best teams in football. Instead they are  4 and 6 and almost needing to win out to make the playoffs.

I'm not a big fan of Taylor, but what did he do that hurt them tonight? I’m hoping you are not talking about the deep shots on 4th down. That is on Joe, not Taylor. It’s not like those plays are one man routes with one guy going deep. Burrow simply must have liked what he saw and decided to throw those deep shots.

But we didn't.

Congratulations to Lamar on his continued success against Cincinnati. I personally would have went for the tie at the end. Baltimore could have gotten a field goal just as easily with a one point lead or a tie if the defense couldn’t have stopped them. Their chances for overtime were fairly good in my opinion.

Brown’s two fumbles were big but coaching wasn’t smart on other moments, particularly the longer pass attempts on 3rd and 2 and 4th and 2 for the turnover on downs. Timing with play calling has clearly been an issue at more than enough points. Bottom line is that the game shouldn’t have been in the position that they were down the stretch.

Going on 4th down twice and missing gave Baltimore great field position both times. Led to at least one TD and maybe two (can’t remember, it was a while ago). That’s on Taylor.

When I first started coaching (a looong time ago!!) older coaches always told me when somebody shows you who they are, believe them, well, I believe them

On top of the on field errors, it is clear they don’t get up to play for Zac anymore if they ever did. If they did, we wouldn’t continue to blow leads or have such lulls during games.

To me, it’s time for a new voice.

Plus without those wins which I agree could have easily went the Bengals way. We only have 4 wins and none of those 4 teams have more than two wins.

I guess that’s just where we differ. Taylor has played it conservative all year long in those situations. I personally love the fact that he was aggressive tonight. I will always much rather him play it more aggressive than play it conservative like Marvin always did. I bet the players also prefer him being aggressive too.

Plus on none of those drives did I think wow the Bengals would have stopped them if only the Ravens had 20 or 30 more yards to go. The Ravens touchdown drives they made look easy. Then the one time he did punt inside the 50 to try to pin the Ravens back. The Ravens ended up getting a 86 yard touchdown. I think Taylor knows the defense isn’t what it was during the playoff run years. You can’t rely on the defense. Trust your 55 million dollar QB to be able to convert 4th and short.

IMO you can’t put the long passes in 4th and short on Taylor. That falls on Burrow, not Taylor. It’s not like the deep route was the only route on those plays. Burrow though decided to chance it.

I can't knock anyone on this game tonight, including the coaches. Overcame injuries to Higgins and O Brown against one of the best teams in the NFL at their field to be a 2 point conversion from winning. The team clearly played their tails off tonight for Zac Taylor so I don't see that comment at all.

I have no problem with the effort, it was there.

But I’m not seeing Baltimore as one of the best teams right now.  Not with that abominable pass defense.  That unit is horrible.  The offense is impressive, but that defense, not so much.
