Birds going 3-0 this week.. first the freshman over Elder, then varsity and JV over Ryle.

Like what I am seeing in Bellevue. Keep up the great work players and coaching staff.

Wasn't a proven high school HEAD football coach at the time. The school wasn't going down the road of not having a Head coach that wasn't experienced as a head coach. Bert might be a candidate in the future but not sure if he has all the requirements to be employed by FTIS. Pretty at Moeller he is just the football coach.

Halftime adjustments were made by players not the head coach. Beau Hoge and other players were responsible for those adjustments and executed them.

I agree. He was a great X and O coach and is great and positioning players. Just couldn't run the business.

No need to check, it's well known. That state championship was won with players who still knew the Dale Mueller mentality on how to win games. May have had a new coach but can't say he had much to do with it. If he continued the winning ways years later then it could have been said that was done his way. I get people are fans of the previous coach and I was as well but sitting and watching the program I support and played within was not enjoyable. The players and program deserved better and a change.

Yeah true, but there was a winning and competitive mindset during that time frame. Kids came out to play and didn't quit when it got rough.

Dale also didn't come into a decimated program like Sphire did in 2020. Alot of rebuilding had to happen from the ground up. The lack of conditioning, the lack of wanting to be a great football player, etc.. the list goes on. The 6 years prior were a total dismantlement of a very successful program. The all times win total where Highlands was 3rd fell to 5th in that time frame. There was a coaching staff after Dale that wasn't bought into keeping the business going and were riding the coat tales of the previous coaches success. They failed to make a name for themselves and continue the success. Dale inherited a good competitive program and added more players to that. A program where losing wasn't an option and wasn't accepted. He was able to build a great program and put the program in a position where greatness was achieved. 2014-2020 went total opposite. Being a true Highlands fan and alumni, it was very disappointing to watch that take place. Now it's being done else where at other schools.

Haven't decided yet. Some good match ups this week.

Highlands beat CovCath in a playoff game in 1995

Is this something that will be horrible for the program with a slew of others looking elsewhere? Still see a lot of potential and talent on that field. Going to some practices along with the spring game there is a different swagger. Not sure why no one would want to be part of that. But the whole phrase that their is no "I" in team has some huge value.

Spiral out of control.... That's what happened starting in 2016 thru the 2020 season. More kids were quiting and transferring to other schools to be a star... Hergott to Beechwood and Shear to Simon Kenton for example. Two very talented QBs.

Is there evidence of coaches calling out players on social media? That is flat out unexceptable. No one is bigger than the program itself. For someone/ coach to go after a kid for a hard decision that hopefully they made and weren't swayed by a parent or coach is not very professional. Every program and coaching staff should have the professionalism not to create controversy.

If kids want to quit then they have that right. It's just sad to see kids have to make a decision to be a one sport athlete because sports go year round. Hate hearing kids quitting the football program because it's something special to be part of. Even though lately it hasn't been what it was prior to 2014 but it's getting back. If you have been going to games the last few seasons you are seeing an improvement. Heck, this year at the spring game the offensive line looks bigger then years past. The kids just look bigger and and stronger and have a swagger about them. Definitely a lot of confidence in those players. A lot of energy to win and bring this historical program back.

Sounds like some people need to thicken their skin and let it go. Much to do about nothing but someone got their feelings hurt so they decide to jump online and stir the pot. What a waste of time.....

If you want to beat the Birds you better bring some shooters and defense. Better be able to score more than 100 as well. This team is good and they are only going to get better. Between Mavis, Herald, Vinson, Ryan, Class, Kirst, Benke and others, this team is deep. They are fun to watch.

I like Woodford in this match up.

Highlands has a few coaches on staff that know the wing t style offensive from their days of playing at HHS back in the early 90s. If you understand it, then you can stop it. Those coaches do coach the defense. This is going to be a great game not to miss.

Walton vs. Newport

This is going to be an interesting game. Walton really hasn't been too impressive this year as in years past. Probably a down year for them but Coach Barth is a solid coach that will have his team ready. Newport will be ready to play and will take it to Walton. This is a toss up.

Got to like SK in this game. The offense is powerful with Crone being able to run and throw.

Trinity rolls in this one. Campbell has some good players, but Trinity will over match them. Congrats to Campbell on a great season.

Colonels

They could go 15-0, win a state championship, be nationally ranked, have 5 D1 players, post 6 shut out wins, probably be the best team in history and there will be those ones that will find something wrong.
