Swashbuckling Maroons Invade The Palace Of Versailles In Matchup Of Peripheral Contenders

Records: Woodford County (10-1) | Pulaski County (9-2)

BGP Ranking: Woodford County (#7 in 5A) | Pulaski County (#10 in 5A)

Series History: First ever meeting

Table Setter: Wofo bounced back from its lone setback to crush Whitley County in the first round. The Jackets haven't missed a beat on offense all season, scoring at least 34 points in every game and averaging over four hundred yards per outing. The quartet of Andrew Nason, Preston Stacy, Aden Nelson, and Makhi Smith combined with the size they present up front, will pose a tremendous challenge to Pulaski County.

The Maroons counter with the state's premier pitch and catch combo in a prototype John Hines offense that likes to throw it around. Brycen Dugger and Chandler Godby have produced All-State caliber seasons, ranking at or near the top of the statewide leaderboard in all passing and receiving categories. The Maroons shouldn't have trouble manufacturing yards and points against Wofo. The question is, can a Pulaski defense that's been under duress the last three weeks get stops? Linebacker Layton Abbott (148 tackles) and the rest of the Maroons will have to man up in the box to slow the mass of humanity coming at them.

Regardless of the outcome here, a good team is bowing out early.

Get my popcorn…great 2nd round game.  I have it from the WOFO announcer that “the only way we lose is if the refs are against us..”.   So I will roll with WOFO (Am I the only one who likes saying “WOFO”?).  I digress.  Kidding aside, Stacy is a great back, so give me the Jackets!

41-28 WOFO

Lol I listen to the announcers for a few minutes lastnight.

Spoke with some locals over the weekend and they said that WOFO was very sloppy Friday night. Something like 6 turnovers and a lot of laundry on the turf. May have been just a 1st round snoozer but definitely something that can get them in trouble down the road.

I’ve been told by the locals in Newport that the crew that had the SK vs WOFO game in fact have this game. Hope the boys in the booth have their Reserve with them.

Wofo wins 35-21.

Maroons don't have what it takes to go back and forth with the Jackets. Close in the 1st half. Pull away in the 4th.

This is going to be one of the more interesting games in the state this week.  I think Pulaski County may pull the upset, but it is really either teams game to win.  I'm sure it would be a fun game to watch.

I’m going with Woodford County. Pulaski struggled with Southwestern and Woodford played well against Simon Kenton and at home….Pulaski can win this one if they stay with the passing attack down field.

In general, Pulaski struggled to stop the run against all of the good teams they played this year. Belfry, Bell County, Southwestern and your Hounds all worked the Maroons over on the ground. Woodford obviously has that in its DNA. I envision Wofo running at Pulaski with great success, which should open up some play action shots down the field to Aden Nelson and Makhi Smith, two future FBS athletes.

The Jackets present a package that I think Pulaski will struggle to overcome, especially if Woodford controls the clock and limits the opportunities for Dugger and Godby.

Is this streamed by Woodford? I’d like to tune in for the announcers.

Mr. Football Spotlight Game

Godby is two touchdown receptions shy of tying the single season state record and Dugger has the second best touchdown to interception ratio in the state, regardless of class. They'll both be challenged by a Wofo secondary dripping with long, rangy, FBS athletes.

I think this has the potential to be the best game tonight. I’m taking WC by 3.
