  1. ? Let’s stay on track here. How does a post about Johnson disrespecting the basketball program turn into a discussion about him being a better trainer than Nevels? What are you really trying to push here? My guess, you have some skin in this game too. Should Sphires be made aware another of his coaches is out on social media throwing more shade at Listerman & Nevels, for that matter?
  2. I get that you are trying to defend the staff here, but I want to understand perfectly what you are trying to sell: Johnson is mad at Nevels, so he used the downfall of the basketball team to take a shot at Nevels publicly on his page where all the Highlands athletes and parents would see it? While he coaches for Highlands rather than sending directly to Nevels or making mention that the post was about him. He even added the emoji of the Jags and Bluebirds on the post so there was no confusing what he was talking about immediately after the game ended. Your explanation makes Johnson look even more arrogant and selfish. My opinion as an outsider looking in. Seems you have more skin in the game than I do.
  3. Not stirring the pot. I simply asked a question as to how a coach thought this type of post on IG was appropriate. Based on your last comment and the fact that you brought Nevels into the conversation, I would guess that you have an issue with Listerman and Nevels. If that is the case, maybe you should address it directly with them and not do what your WR coach did. I do not have a student athlete at Highlands but I do have a multi-sport athlete and I can tell you now that if my son's football coach made a comment like this after a tough loss in another sport, I would take issue with it and expect a public apology.
  4. Gotcha. The "what happened to" part made me assume he thought Sphires was gone. 🙂
  5. If by "Nevels Hypothesis" you mean Nevels has gotten under Johnsons skin somehow, I would agree. I will add, that if that was the case, why not just tag Nevels or send it directly to him? It was immediately after the game ended on a platform where all the Highlands players could see it. Many people close to the situation and I, think its because he is just that arrogant and now bitter, that the team chose not to train with him. So he takes a shot at them and Nevels at the same time. I don't have a child at Highlands, I don't have a child that trains at any of these facilities. I will say this; when my son is ready to start working with a trainer, I will go with the one that stays away from the "public" chaos and chooses to put my child before his/her reputation. Johnson has not done that in this instance.
  6. Interesting hypothesis. This is the first time I am hearing the name Nevels brought up. If it was directed solely at Nevels, why would he put it up publicly for all the Highlands players to see and not just send it to Nevels or tag him int he post? So, plausible, yes, but sounds more like a big deflection at this point to try and defend Johnson. Without revealing to much, the people I had dinner with have sons that play on the basketball team, so I am going with what they said. I choose to look at the post at face value. It doesn't even align with what you're claiming. "Coulda brought Johnson training in again if you wanted to win." I would assume that coaches, administration, and to some extent the parents, are the ones responsible for who is brought in to work with the teams. So again, how could that not be a shot at all of them? There is no way to spin this. I can tell you that's how the parents, coaches and players took it. To post it immediately after their season ended in a heartbreaker, is beyond classless and tasteless. Are you defending this nonsense? Your comment sounds more like PR disaster relief. Why not just go and apologize to the entire staff, team and parents for publicly taking a shot at them? Based on another conversation last night about this very topic with a similar group of people, I can assure you that the parties have not moved on. You must not know anyone who knows Coach Listerman like they do. Scroll back a few comments. Looks like someone from Lloyd said he did the exact same thing over there. Said he was very arrogant and divisive with their staff. The post in question speaks to his arrogance.
  7. Ah, gotcha. Makes sense and no worries. No ruffled feathers here. Just misunderstanding.
  8. @4 Quarters Care to elaborate? I'm not trying to sell anything and I'm not sure what facts you are looking for (See screenshot above). All of the coaches and players have screenshots of the post he made on his Insta account directly following a hard loss by the basketball team. Are you possibly defending that?
  9. I was at dinner with a few friends from Fort Thomas and the hot topic of discussion was Highlands football coach, Charles Johnson. Someone pulled up the screenshot below and spoke about in context. Apparently after Highlands basketball lost a nail biter to Cooper in the region, Johnson went onto his Instagram and fired a disrespectful shot at the players, coaches, and program. He basically laughed in their faces and said you lost because you didn’t pay me to train your team. They said the basketball coaches and parents were livid once it circulated and reached them. All of the players saw it because they follow Johnson and they were even more hurt and angry than the parents. It’s so ignorant considering their best wide receiver and starting quarterback both play basketball. To be employed by a school and make that comment toward your own basketball team is the most absurd thing I’ve seen out of a coach in NKY sports. As you can imagine, there’s a lot of blood boiling on the basketball side now towards a football staff that attacks their kids. Pile that onto the rumor that some of the staff has allegedly already influenced several kids to stop playing basketball since they got there. I personally think Johnson should be fired. The kids will never look at him the same after getting crapped on like that. One coach can destroy the comradery between the football and basketball squads and I think Johnson just did that.
