Ashland is one of the toughest teams I have watched in a while. Porter and Villers are dealing with some minor injuries. The next 2 pick up the torch and find a way to win. Sellars drops 34 points and Carter (freshman) has 16 points and 6 rebs. The Tomcats expect to win regardless of who they play. Fun team to watch.

The bleachers are in bad shape. I'm glad it is finally getting replaced.

Agree with the team rankings 100%. Ashland returns 4 starters from a Final 4 team. In my opinion, they all deserve to be in the Top 10.

Flowers is a 4 star with 11 high major D-1 offers. Johnson is a 4 star with several High Major D-1 offers. I know Kansas and Ohio State have offered. Several more players with more offers as well. So, I will give Ashland the respect they deserve. They did beat an elite national team. It is possible for a great team to come out of Eastern Kentucky. Let’s just support our kids regardless of which school you support. I hope the Tomcats go across the state beating all the teams that “Some think they are not supposed too.” I didn’t go to school there but I am now a fan!!

I did hear that Ashland and Boyd have some that are taking advantage of the Supplemental School Year Program but not sure of the names.

Haven't heard a lot of news on any players in the 16th that are taking the Supplemental Year. Any news?

I have read several comments where Eastern Kentucky schools are snubbed. I am definitely starting to see that this is true. Ashland Blazer could have beat North Laurel by 30-40 if they wanted. How can they not be at least #10 on this list? I also think Bowling Green should be higher as well.

You do realize that you just agreed with Professor’s quote and then changed your stance saying the game would be worse. Lol. Obviously you are emotional about this unbalanced Ref Called game so we will just agree to disagree.

On a neutral floor and CCHS don’t get handed charity stripe points, Tomcats win this game! You have to admit that CCHS shot 32 free throws. Ashland shot 2. Come on man!

The Tomcats didn’t have a good game vs. Simon Kenton. There is no team in the state going to beat Covington Catholic at Cov. Cath. with the free throw margin 32-2. (Only lost by 9) they had 26 pts from the free throw line. I commend Ashland for having nerve to step outside the 16th region to play that level of competition. I don’t see too many teams playing the level of play that Ashland is playing. They will be rolling in the post season.

I say that on a neutral floor, Blazer wins. 30-2 is insane. Sounds to me like they didn’t want the Tomcats leaving with the “W”!

BG is a very good team. One thing to note is they were 24 of 25 from the free throw line in this game. Tough to beat a team when they shoot that many shots from the charity stripe and make them. Not taking away from the Purples though. They will be playing in Rupp this year. To say Ashland is a one dimensional team is crazy. They get to the rim, dunk, run the lanes well on the break, drive and kick, etc. Villers, Sellers, Carter and Porter all shoot very well from 3. Calling them one dimensional sounds personal and not a true assessment of the team.

Let the kids dunk in warmups. I 100% oppose this rule. Needs to be removed.

I hope My Town TV covers it too. I want to watch this game. If Ashland finds chemistry early, I am taking the Tomcats. I am somewhat familiar with the 16th region teams. I have not seen the Big from W. Virginia play but the Freshman from that came from Greenup is a player. I caught some of Ashland's games last season and they are returning 3 starting Guards that are very good. Even though it is very early in the season, I am still saying that Ashland wins this one.

I am familiar with 15th and 16th region teams. What kind of team does Highlands have this year? We know Ashland will be good.

I am hearing that most of the 16th region schools are allowing 4 tickets per player for the first 2 weeks of the season. At that point reevaluate to see if more spectators can attend. Just continue to operate like this throughout the season based off of how the Covid situation is going.

There are some great players returning. Should be an exciting season in the 16th.

Exactly. Not sure what HoopJunkie is basing this off of. Definitely not a middle school schedule. I haven’t seen the Tomcats run from anyone. Look at their schedule this year.

There should be the option to reschedule with another school that had a game cancelled. Similar to football. If 2 schools lost a game due to their opponent being out for Covid, they could possibly find a replacement game. It would help to get more games in.

Agree. I wish Conley would have been healthy for this game. He would have helped open up the passing game for the Russell QB. Not saying that Russell could beat them but I think it would have been a better game.

What makes you “not a buyer” on Ashland. Coming off an undefeated season. Key players returning and added some very good players. Just curious what your thoughts are on this.

I think there will be a season. It will be on a week to week basis similar to how they are handling football.
