  1. I hear a lot of people saying that cost is one of the main negatives for getting the shot clock. Does anyone know how much it will actually cost? I can't imagine it being that expensive. I don't know the answer but would like to hear a number to see if that is a valid reason against getting a shot clock.
  2. All I heard today was Coach Bonner. Didn’t hear interim or acting Coach one time. It appears that they removed it. Coach Bonner deserves that. Definitely should remain the coach of the Tomcats.
  3. I was curious to see how this game would go. Morgan has really turned around from last year. They have a good team and I think they return almost everyone. The Tomcats were on another level. The Deboard kid is a shifty guard and the Carter kid is on another level than the rest of the region. He has some D1 offers as a Sophomore and I would say that they are the first of many. Hat Tip to MyTownTV and Kool TV for streaming the games for those of us that were unable to make the games. Very much appreciated.
  4. Very confusing post. Still can’t justify the rankings. All signs lead to the Tomcats. Or the “Mighty” Tomcats as you call them.
  5. Out of that entire post you keyed on the word hate. You still didn’t explain the justification of the ranking. So I will use a less aggressive word for you. “The dislike is real.” Lol
  6. Boyd has beat Ashland 1 time since 2019. Ashland won the first matchup by 13 and Boyd won the second by 8. Ashland is #1 seed in the 64th district. Interesting how they would be even considered to be ranked higher than the Tomcats. The hate is real!
  7. Glad I was able to talk to Coach Hardin last year at the KOB. Great man and great coach.
  8. You literally took everything I posted and made it a pity party for yourself. The entire point that I was making went over your head. The rankings that you were posting about were for middle school. You do know that right? Some of the kids on that list may not even play high school ball. Sorry that I upset you.
  9. Coast 2 Coast Preps, MSHTV, CP3 and all the rest of the pay to play rankings are cool and give you a look at young talent but are not official rankings. Those are meat market camps that are all chasing the dollar. 247 and Rivals are also jaded to some extent but are more valid that these junior camps. The 8th grader from Russell is a very good player and I hope he bounces back from his injury 100% healthy. Let's just let the young man work hard and develop without adults putting undue pressure on him to live up to "way to early rankings." One player doesn't win a district title or get you to the regional tournament. He is good now and could potentially be one of the best ones to come out of Russell but just stop with the pressure. He is only in the 8th grade!
  10. I disagree. Your High School coach is where your recruiting should originate. Your AAU team in the summer should be in place to supplement what is being built in your High School program. If the high school coach is doing his or her job, they will be the major driver of a player’s recruitment. I did not say that he needs Ashland. I said that Russell needs to play good teams to get better. Stop making it an Ashland thing. You spun that out of context. This young man is a good player. It would be a shame if he doesn’t get to play state caliber teams during the season. Run from no one in the season.
  11. Yes the young man has a chance of becoming a really good player. He will not develop like he should if Russell continues to drop good competition. He needs to play in games against good competition to get better. Dropping tough opponents and picking up sure fire wins hurts all the players on the team. It looks good on the stat sheet but that stat sheet won’t mean squat when you play a team that can guard you. A .500 season playing tough teams will prepare them for post season. Cup cake schedule will give them a nice season record and go home the first round of the district.
  12. This punishment seems pretty severe. Someone please tell me what was wrong with this Coach trying to assist EKY people that needed help? Maybe, we haven't heard the whole story.
  13. I agree. The next hire will be a big one. They have to establish some stability at GC. The administration better select the next coach with care.
  14. Glad to see the upgrades. I have been to Mason's gym a few times. It is a good place to watch basketball.
  15. GRC, Ashland and Male. One of these teams will be crowned when the dust settles.
  16. I have a hard time hanging this issue on the coaches. Yes, the coach should set the expectations for conduct on the court, but this is something that should have been taught at home. I taught my sons how to keep composure in adversity. Emotions are high in the post season and people make mistakes and make bad decisions, but this is not totally the coach's fault. Just my opinion....
  17. He is a good player but saying they can't stop him may be a little bit of a strong statement. They have played teams of all speeds / sizes this season and have played any team that wanted to walk in the gym. The Tomcats on ball pressure and ability to run the floor with make it tough for Cov Cath to control anything. It will be a good game to watch.
  18. All Ashland starters played the entire regional tournament. Coming in to the State tournament with a healthy squad! Villers, Carter, Sellers and Porter all with 16th region all-tournament honors. I think they are good to go.
  19. Bath County has a good team. The defensive pressure of the Tomcats will be next level compared to what they have played all season. It will be interesting to see if they can handle it. Looking forward to this game.
  20. Zander Carter at Ashland Paul Blazer. Averaging around 11 pts 8 rebs on the #4 team in the state. The Tomcats play one of the toughest schedules in the state. The strength of schedule means a lot when evaluating a player. Easy to average a lot if you are playing below average teams all season.
  21. I caught this game on MyTownTV tonight. I was impressed by the level of play by young players. The Reed from BC is a Soph. and can shoot the rock. He can score. His little brother is a decent player too. The Carter kid from Ashland is a 6'4" Freshman and dropped 22 points. Leads the Tomcats in rebounds and is close to a double double every night. Very impressive from the young ballers at the Varsity level.
  22. Question. Does RPI factor in the strength of schedule? If it does, I sort of see the RPI argument. If RPI does not take in consideration the strength of schedule, then we should never even consider using it. There are some teams across the state that have padded their schedule. JMO....
