Looks like someone voted for Henry County by accident rather than St. Henry. That would have given St. Henry enough points to be #1. How does North Laurel get #1 vote after losing two in a row and by 30 after last game? ?‍♂️

That's a really tough break for St. Henry if that is the case. I don't think they've ever been #1 in the AP poll.

Henry County has a 9 next to their name -- wouldn't a vote for #1 have given them 10 total points?  Maybe someone voted for Henry Co, meaning SHDHS, for 2nd?

Even in that case, those 9 points would have made them #1 for the week.

I think they meant to vote for St. Henry #2 which would be 9 points. Henry County is team that wouldn’t get any votes for top 10. What an error!

If a mistake was made confusing Henry Co. and St. Henry was made, that's a real shame. A #1 basketball ranking, even for just one week, is a once in a lifetime event for most small schools.

Many years ago, I spoke with a reporter who held the AP vote for The Kentucky Post. The ballots, at one time were "wired in" to the Courier-Journal. They crossed somebody's desk (Bob White, Herb Whitney, or Billy Reed?) for review. 

Back in the days of "old media," the AP Poll results appeared above the fold on the front page of the sports section. High school sports were front page news in small towns. 25-40 ballots were cast each week by local newspapers and radio stations across the Commonwealth. It helped sell papers, and was taken seriously. Someone at the C-J would have flagged a Henry Co./St. Henry vote for clarification.

There really never has been transparency in the voting process. Anonymity gives cover for some down ballot "homer" votes. The reporters at the big papers have historically been the only ones to share their ballots. Now we're down to a dozen voters, the power of one ballot skews the results, and it doesn't appear as if there is the kind of oversight there once was.

A "Claaaaaaaaasic AP Poll" - as DragonFire above describes this one, wouldn't have made it to print a half century ago. *Sigh* Sorry Crusaders.

One thing I've always wondered:  How does media from Bowling Green or somewhere know how good a team from Northern Kentucky is?  How can you accurately rank a team you have never seen play?  Just by looking at scores?  Anyone can do that.  That's why I tend to like the RPI, Cantrell, and Litkenhous.  Computers and math don't have bias lol.
