In Beechwood’s case, regardless how tough of a schedule they play out of the gate for the first five non-conference games they still get screwed unlike any other in 2A because of the total number of teams in their own district. Yes, we’ve heard this will change in 2025, but will it really change? Also, kudos to LCA this season, pound for pound, they’ve played the toughest schedule out of the gate and love that they beat CAL last week.

Cusick and Flaherty have been leading the charge consistently week end and week out whether it shows up in the news or not, QB1 is a baller and gets EVERYONE involved on the passing end and Luke has had several good games himself, I sure hope he plays this Friday. The players that are starting to shine are skill players Pabst, Aylor, Flesch and Arrasmith. ALL the lineman both on the offensive and defensive end are the most important part to me, it all starts and ends with them! My take on Friday’s game for BW will be how well not only the D-line plays, BUT also the Linebackers, they have to have a great game and MAKE tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage, they do that then Beechwood has a good opportunity on winning the game.

If Ryle cleans up special teams and offense clicks well then the Raiders come out with a victory. Highlands is still a year out from being dominate, but on a good track where they want to be.

Shout out to Corbin on hosting a great event, I’ve not been to a ton of high school stadiums in Kentucky like most of you may have, but can surely say I’ve seen nothing like the venue played in last night from the atmosphere and good people in and around in Corbin and what a light show after Corbin scores. Thank you Corbin to play in such an awesome atmosphere. You all do it right!

Fryman and Erdman were not utilized in this scrimmage like they normally would be in a full game. So if it’s head to head I’d give the nod to Beechwood’s

Beechwood’s focus seems to be concentrating on working on the run game on offense and getting other receivers up to speed with the veterans. Beechwood’s Defense it looks like they are trying to work on getting the D-line and Linebackers all reps as well as corners and safety’s. Ryle looks to get better every series they are playing.

Ryle first long score was penalized. Right? ALS there’s been too many pulled on Beechwood’s defense, half linebackers and one of the main safety’s was out.

Very exciting of the offers and interests a lot of these young men are getting from colleges and do agree more will follow for each of them. I love how many schools Coach Volker and the Coaching Staff has had at the school throughout this Spring, the buzz is exciting in and around Fort Mitchell and the program is focused on the opportunities that are just the around the corner this Summer, Fall and early Winter. How big of a factor comes into play for high school players going to camps in the Spring & Summer time? Does this elevate one’s status? Is there a certain football circuit you have to be on in order to be recognized? What are the right steps if you’re an 8th or 9th grader that one should take in order to start getting recognized?

Several years ago there may have been a few kids that should have played at Conner go to Cooper and play and they were pretty darn good. I’m sure that doesn’t favor well with some at Conner.

Thank you V.O.R. for the information. Too bad that being the case. If the is RPI driving these type of decisions then we will never see the top teams year over year play each other in NKY. The RPI is flawed and although it may not hurt every program within the State, it’s proven enough to hurt a few which is why it needs to be changed.

Anyone know why Highlands and Beechwood don’t play each other? I’d rather see two powerhouse programs in their respective class vs. play a school outside of NKY such as Raceland?

Sully is a great coach at Cooper. It’s unfortunate if this point guard leaves to head to another school. IMO…..if that happens best luck to the point guard, he’ll look back and realize how good he had it at Cooper being coached by Coach Sullivan.

I think you mean Tyler Fryman. It was a verbal commitment Spring of his 8th grade year.

IMO…..Would like to see Conner’s JV Coach John Bowling have the opportunity taking over the Varsity position. Next to Conner’s AD Jim Hicks and few other former Conner Basketball Alum, no one would know the history about Conner Basketball and how much it means to the local community than John Bowling, he’s lived it and would do all he can to build off old tradition as well as what Coach Otte built as head coach. Good Luck to Coach John Bowling.

Will this be televised? I just read GC and Lex Cath will be and am hoping this one is as well. I wish both teams the best, but I’m pulling for the Jags. I love Sully’s Coaching Style and he will have a solid game plan, the players will just need to execute the game plan.

I don’t have any specific reasons more than what was brought up already. I’m interested to find out if it’s for another position elsewhere.

Hearing news a defensive coach who’s been instrumental for the Jags for years may be stepping down. Does anyone have information on the matter? IMO….The defense has been a solid part to the teams success and regardless what may be the case I wish the program tremendous success in 2024 on wining a State Championship.

Listening to games are great on the radio, is there also a link to watch the 9th Region Games live?

Very proud for Newport players, coaches and all the Newport supporters. These kids can play!

Big shout out to the Griffin’s and others that may have helped organized this event and in the past, regardless of where the games have been played. If it wasn’t for people like this I don’t think Northern Kentucky could pull in so many big teams at one time. I’m sure they’ll get the venue logistics figured out in the future, but since I’ve been attending winter classics such as this for 40 years I don’t recall having the caliber of teams in a high school tournament/showcase in northern Kentucky at one time. The old Lee’s Famous Recipe tournament was a great local tournament, but not the caliber of teams like we’ve seen Griffin’s tournament/showcase over the last few years.

Does La Lumiere actually play within Indiana’s high school basketball association amongst a class or division? The looked to be a true prep school. They were not only big, but really skilled and fun to watch.

I think Beechwood’s QB had 9 games where he only played one half of the game.

Enjoy the pleasure this year……..it won’t happen in 2024! Cooper has a taste and they’ll be back winning 5A. Beechwood will be in the hunt in 2A and they know what they need to do to make it happen! Lloyd in 3A knocking on the door. Ryle wanting to make a statement in 6A. Cov Cath will make noise in 4A. Ludlow and New Cath making noise in 1A.
