Yes the Ryle offense moved the ball pretty well and were balanced in their attack. The Ryle offense should be pretty good this year they seem to be deeper at receiver which will help they had some drop issues last year. No QB runs by Ryle appeared they told him not to run there was plenty of space. They probably were only on the field for a couple maybe 3 drives with the rain and scored 2 out of 3 drives the 3rd they hit the play limit after getting a first down on the 9.

Played about 30 minutes - delayed then cancelled due to storms. Pretty standard Boone and Holy Cross seemed to be on the field more than Ryle, all played about as expected for a first scrimmage very vanilla. All the teams played with good intensity. Just not enough time to see a lot really. Boone's numbers looked lower than the past couple of years and Holy Cross may have 20 players. Ryle players Kaden Gardner, Colemire, Verax Dickerson and Harden played well in limited action but again hard to tell in a small window. On the other end of the field the Boone JV played the Ryle freshman no Holy Cross team on that end so there was more to see. The first team Ryle freshman looked really good scoring several times and played strong defense. Boone JV picked it up as backups made it into the scrimmage for Ryle. Strange that Boone still can't field a freshman team. Ryle has 40 - 45 freshman out.

Totally agree he needs some space to see what he can do and make his own way. 2A is great football but hard to get a QB to a big school look at Cam Hergott who is one of the best to ever play in NKY and he had to take an extra year to get to EKU (which is great program) so why add pressure to this young man let him breathe a little. The QB position is tough for many reasons and there is only 1 spot so sometimes if you want to play and hopefully play multiple years you may have to move schools - long list of kids who have done that. Beechwood had the Hayden kid coming in who they were pretty high on who also moved schools to get to have the opportunity to play sooner vs. staying at Ryle where he would have been behind one Verax and just a year ahead of the other, so maybe going back to Walton was a way for the Smith kid to get on the field. Should be a great district this year Ryle Jr QB Logan Verax made the top 10 list as well - both young men can really sling it and high quality off the field as well. I think they were the only 2 from NKY on the top 10 list.

Lots of local talent showed out at the WKU camp Sunday with Tyson Beach WV, Austin Waddell and Xavier Campbell Beechwood, Logan Verax Ryle, Brach Rice Dixie and Jack Lonaker Cooper. Some of the best in our area all had a great camp.

Great group of incoming freshman and sophomores for Ryle. Look for Lorms and Gatlin OL / DL to make a varsity impact in their sophomore seasons. Maybe not considered up and comers anymore but you have QB Logan Verax (24), WR / S Kaden Gardner (23 - also with a D1 scholarship offer), RB / DB Lucas Colemire (23), LT Drew Dickerson (23)

Kaden Gardner of Ryle tied the Eastern Relay record in the high jump at 6'8" also setting the Ryle record again that height was the best jump in the state so far. Ryle 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams qualified and ran in the event each with 3 football players as well as Gabe Savage throwing and a qualifier in the 100m and 200m.

Ryle has several players from incoming freshman to varsity starters participating. Kaeden Gardner has is one of the top 5 high jumpers in the state, qbs Logan Verax and brother Nate an incoming freshman are competing well in the 4 x 100, 4 x200, 100m and 200m with left tackle Drew Dickerson consistently placing in the discus and shot.

New tournament format this year with not everyone getting in only the top two from a North, South, East and West divisions kicks off tonight. N#1 Highlands v S#2 Gray, E#1 Campbell v W#2 Conner, W#1 Turkeyfoot v E#2 Summitview, S#1 Ockerman v N#2 Beechwood. Good luck to all the teams!

Beechwood had a fantastic year with a talented team and the best player in NKY maybe all of KY. From a scheduling standpoint Beechwood and Ryle have played sporadically at best and it is primarily due to BW scheduling the larger schools in their county as those are more rivalry type games, Dixie and Cov Cath (5a) are within 2 miles of the campus and then they pick up Simon Kenton. The 2020 game was a Covid replacement and the schools wanted to play this year but could not work it in, BW is a great program but I wouldn't say Ryle doesn't want to play them check their schedule in 2021 and 22 doesn't appear they are ducking anyone.

There are some quality players at the 8th grade level this year; Dylan Lee - Grey' Gavin Lyons - Grey Nathan Verax - Ockerman Cameron O'Hara - Ockerman Nathan Rickerts - Highlands

Ryle has a Buster Douglas chance or is that a lottery win chance to win the game but given that this is a group that won't shy away or be in awe of playing Trinity and will lay it all out Friday night. Anyone growing up playing old 4a now 6a football knows what to expect when a Trinity team steps on the field and brings that great legacy with them - is it just 1 NKY team has ever beaten them? I expect to see the Raiders go down and it could get lopsided but I don't expect to see them throw in the towel and compete till the end.

Ryle kicker Summer Denigan is a great story and she has had a tremendous season along with Soph QB Logan Verax I believe he is 4th in 6a passing and has accounted for 20tds in the regular season (17 passing / 3 rushing) and finally the Ryle defense led by one of the better LB tandems going in Gabe Savage and Jackson Belk sitting at 1 and 2 in tackles in 6a and the defense giving up only about 12 points a game. May seem like a lot but based on some of the Ryle teams the last few years it's a lot to celebrate. Also think several hit the biggest one a full season with fans and the players getting a lot of appreciation for all their hard work. Congratulations and good luck to all the teams in the post season!

This game is also fun from the aspect that quite a few players played youth football together for NKY Hawkeyes and were coached by CCH alumni Barry Jones which has a lot of impact players across the varsity landscape of NKY - kudos to Barry for helping so many outstanding players and young men. From Ryle; Verax, Gardner, Dickerson, Lown, Vinson, Barone, Steffen, Leiker, Lanier CCH; A Jones, S Jones, Mason, Schramm, B Miller, B Folke Some will have a big hand in what happens tomorrow night and a few for Saturday's JV game.

2 stellar defenses with 2 of the best linebacking corps in the state going head to head should be a slugfest. 1 offense with it's identity established and fairly balanced and 1 that is going through some growing pains this season but runs the ball well. Both teams have had ups and downs on special teams. Based on seeing both teams play I expect to see a hard fought close game where the weather could impact the game if it rains. I look to see Ryle pull one off by 7 (maybe they get a Summer FG to help seal the win)

Crone is a talented QB and having a great year in a tough situation so far. Kudos to him. SK definitely has size on the line but line play has been a strength for Ryle on both sides especially on offense (as long as they stay away from the false starts) so looking forward to seeing how those battles play out.

SK has a scored a lot of points and has a very good offense but looking back at quite a few of their games it looks like several of the points came later in games when the other team's second group may have been in and vs a very good defense like Ryle's I could see that being the case again. But Ryle can be prone to giving up the big play look no further than the Dixie game. Ryle's offense should score points not a knock on SK they have a young defense giving up a lot of points to most teams and the better teams take advantage so look for Ryle to join that club. Ryle by two to three scores.

Yes she does and keeps getting closer to the end zone each time and they are great kicks for the coverage team to get down field.

Would have been good from 47 had plenty of room to spare. Great to have her going into the end the season and playoffs.

Should be a great game between two physical teams who like to get after and have some nastiness to them. I like Ryle in this one by 7 - 10 points and expect Ryle to maintain their stellar defensive play - when looking at the 3 common opponents Dixie has given up 66 points and Ryle 27. Ryle's issue moving the ball has come in the form of false start penalties when they play clean they are able to move the ball and have in every game but St X and have some good athletes on that side of the ball as well. Dixie has a lot of weapons (Landers, Holbert, Hawkins and Rohlman if healthy) and a stingy defense plus homefield advantage which will help out and looking like the weather could be a factor Friday so the run game may play a big part. As far as who has the better QB statistically it's the Ryle QB in all categories but 1 and playing a St X caliber team is way different than anything NKY can offer so that should have helped him grow up a bit but Landers is a senior so has the experience edge and shows up well in big games so can the sophomore play at that same level Friday we will see should be fun.

Only 3 points vs the first defense after a failed onside kick. The other 8 points went through the JV defense v CC first offense during the running clock. The Ryle defense is really good 28 points given up this season were by the JV defense at the end of games so the points per game could be lower. Great game coming up this week for Ryle v Dixie.

A blind squirrel finds a nut every once in awhile... however such a tough road to work for anyone in 6A v. the big 3 from Louisville. I think this is a tough and talented Ryle team who will go out and fight for 4 quarters just don't think it's in the cards to win. A good measuring stick for where you are as a team if they keep it to 14 or less that would speak well for the team (not that anyone likes moral victories) moving forward into district play. Hopefully it doesn't go to far south. FYI game was moved back to 7:30.

Senior night for Ryle as well so a little added emotion for the Raiders.

From what I understand GRC is down and not going to win a lot of games and while I agree Cooper is better than the last couple of years not sure saying they can beat most 6A teams they face might be a bit of a stretch but any given Friday I guess. I think Dixie wins by a couple scores or more. Not that I wouldn't like to see Cooper win it would be great to get all the NKY schools playing competitively against one another.
