  1. I get your point. Graves O has proven it can score on big plays and have more than 1 or 2 guys who can do it. However, nobody has tried what you are suggesting because of the threat of Mckee. Mayfield and PT kept the box loaded up all game. It’ll be interesting to see how effective the run game is when a team isn’t playing man with 1 or no safeties.
  2. I am hearing some rough news from Cards fans this morning. It is possible a significant player suffered a significant injury in their last game. I can not confirm this as I havn't seen anything publicly posted, so I don't feel comfortable posting this athletes name nor feel I should. If true, this game just got very interesting.
  3. Paducah brought pressure every play and played us man. Mayfield did many times as well. Still passed the ball effectively and had plenty of time. I’m not worried about the pass blocking, the run blocking on the other hand…
  4. Eagles are coming into the game 1-1 after a loss to Mayfield and a win to Paducah. They have shown they can put up points, but special teams has been rough. They have continue to allow drives to start across midfield thus backing the defense in a corner. McCracken is 0-2 and is looking to not start 0-3. (Maybe for the first time?) Their schedule has been pretty stout. Playing a good Paducah team and Bowling Green. I did not see the BG game but they must have figured some things out defensively from week 1. Thoughts?
  5. Very good point. You guys have had as many coaches in the last 10 years as we have had in our entire 30 year or so existence.
  6. Not this year for PT. They turn the ball over too many times and Mayfield makes you pay for that. They can win, but it’s unlikely. With that said, unless PT implodes over the next two years, I believe this streak will be over either next year or the next, but just not this year. 35-21 Mayfield
  7. End of the half between Graves and PT was inexcusable. So much wrong happened I’m not sure even how to word it. It was like they were just guessing on every call. They said PT rb fumbled when he was clearly down. Said our Rb was short of the goaline right in front of where I was standing and he was clearly in. I understand it’s wrong to bad mouth refs, but these kids and coaches work too hard for this.
  8. I really thought we were going to walk away with it, but credit to PT for fighting back. Graves living off big plays is so hard for me to get use to. Explosive and Graves are two words you don’t hear together, but this year that is the case. PT I think matches up better against Mayfield than we did. Number 7 for PT is very very good! Enjoyed watching him play. Not looking forward to playing him the next few years.
  9. Hard to believe, but speed is actually a strength of this Graves team this year. This might be the fastest Graves team ever. Outside a punt return with terrible coverage, Mayfield didn't have one of those long touchdowns they usually get 2 or 3 on us. Grant looked to be the fastest kid on the field as well. Now our fastest team ever, still probably isn't as fast as a fast PT team.
  10. Feel like Graves and Mayfield level of play was a notch above Tilghman game last week. However, I’m hesitant to let myself believe that. This Graves team is very athletic and feel they can hang with Tilghmans passing attack. We have to fix our special teams issue. It has and will continue to cost us big games if we don’t. This series has been basically dead even the last few decades. I feel like we swap wins every other year. I imagine a close game that could go either way. If we win this one, I feel like we will have a shot to win a ton of games this year.
  11. Credit to the refs. Coach Joe tried to steal a field goal attempt at the end of the half and they didn’t fold.
  12. Was a good game. Both teams made mistakes, but Graves made a few more and give Cards credit they capitalized. I thought Graves athletes made more, WOW, plays but Mayfield owned the trenches and as the old saying goes…
  13. Not sure what Graves defense has done to get so bad and what Mayfield offense has done to get so good? Is this confidence found in Dabney? I’ve heard from some Mayfield friends he has a good chance at being QB1.
  14. Mayfield has another Qb that I think they plan on using. Dabney is his last name. They rotated every series in the scrimmage. When the ball is in his hands he is threat! I don't think we will see Cartwright 100% of the time behind center. Not sure if they will roll with the 2 QB system like they did a few years ago or make these two battle it out over the next couple of years. I believe both are sophomores. The difference is those last two Qbs they did that with could have started for probably 90% of teams in the state.
  15. This is basically the same defense Graves had last year versus the same offense Mayfield had. Graves only allowed 24 last year against the cards. They approved dramatically as the front 7 was basically all first year starters. By the last game they only allowed Owensboro offense to score twice at the end of last season. Only 3 teams scored more than 20 on them all of last year. Mayfield scoring 42 and 35 is a tad too high for me. 28-14 Graves
  16. I’m not saying any of these calls changed the outcome of the game. Just trying to show the effect his presence and voice has and you know what when you have been to more state championships than you have fingers, then maybe that’s just how it is. I just don’t want him to overturn calls and stop drives this year. It’s been a long 12 years haha
  17. I agree with what you said. I tried to make it as clear as possible that they have owned the series, which is why I wrote it multiple times. Every coach does work the refs. Be stupid not to, but his working the refs is almost God tier.
  18. It is not a shock for me to say Mayfield has owned this game over the last decade. I have seen every game of this cross town rivalry and over the last decade 3 games I feel Coach Morris won for the club or at the very least had a huge impact. In, I think, 2011 Graves had 3 long runs and 2 tds called back after he chewed on the refs. Graves wasn’t in a position to win that night, but he 100% worked the refs. In I think 2017, Graves had came back from trailing the whole game to get the game within one possession. They caused a fumble and had all the momentum. The chains were moved, the ball was spotted, Graves center had his hand on the ball, and the dude still got the call reversed to an incomplete pass. We are talking 2 minutes after the play. I would pay a ton of money to see what he said. Mayfield scored a couple of plays later. Huge call. Then last year Graves was driving down the field to go up 3 possessions and Morris walked out on the field and basically stopped the Graves County drive. They had momentum and he literally without a timeout yelled at the ref for over a minute. No delay of game, no sideline warning, nothing. The next play Graves scores a td only to have the flag thrown and the Td taken off the board. After that Mayfield absolutely owned the night. Im not saying this is why Mayfield has owned us. They have owned everybody. But in a close game you have to give them the edge because of Coach Morris magic. I have witnessed it too many times. I do think this Graves team is better, I think they were last year, but if the refs allow Coach Joe to intimidate them, then we are in trouble haha! I don’t think the veteran officials will, but I can only imagine being a young ref and maybe the greatest coach in the state over the last 20 years is hounding at me telling me what to do, it would be hard not to be intimidated and to listen to him.
  19. Like you said, question marks for both, but both teams looked good in their scrimmages. Think we will know a lot more about each team after Friday.
  20. There is a shot some players return, but from what I am hearing it is just a handful. However, I am hearing some very important names in the handful, who COULD be back. Again this is just what I am hearing, which could mean nothing. Graves will be very skilled this year, as almost every skilled position is coming back. Of course our highly underrated QB Brown was a senior. For selfish reasons, I hope he comes back! Maybe he would finally get the respect he deserves from local media, but that of course is a family decision. Graves is losing some other key players like Richards and the O-Line, but I think they have confidence in guys coming up. The upcoming Freshman and Sophomore classes I have heard are very talented and can fill some holes this year.
  21. If one does they all have to. If a kid wants to stay back, but can’t, he can easily transfer and repeat the same grade. Sure he must set out a year, but he would still get 4 years of playing, but basically a redshirt year when he transfers.
