Exactly, the kids and town deserve a football mind. Not somebody that we hire just because they will do things how the administration wants and it’s the easiest thing to do.

For the kids sake I hope not, I’ve seen it first hand. They aren’t very receptive to the guy, and his football knowledge has been brought into question at other stops from what I recall. They need to get the best guy regardless of where he comes from. Not just somebody within because that’s the easy thing to do and he is our buddy.

Wasn’t the hefty lefty drafted? I’m a little younger so don’t know when or what year but I know he played in the league. RIP to his soul!

I read on twitter he has a visit setup to St.Johns.

Yeah I thought it was just a given that football is head and shoulders above over here. Recruiting, on field play, talent, coaching doesn’t really matter what you wanna look at it’s better. If I had aspirations for my kid to be the best he could be and make it as far as he can. I would 10000% think about playing in Ohio rather than Kentucky. No other way to slice it.

I think UK being on will deter some fans tonight forsure.

Ohio is a football state. It’s eat, sleep, breathe football over here, and the trickle down affects are real. Football is tougher over the water, kids are better and coaches are better. That means naturally kids will get recruited more, I don’t blame any parent or kid for wanting that.

Probably some truth to it, I know OSU when they come to Cincy recruit the heck out of Taft. And In general have been hitting Cincy hard last couple years. I think it’s a no brainer a kid would benefit from playing over there. Same reason Queen just left CCH.

Exactly I’d like to hear if the inverse has been granted before, and if so how often does it happen. But CCH basketball with McGillis, Cash and Ruthsatz all as freshmen! Wow!

It is indeed. Confirmed to me today he starts on Monday at CCH.

I’ve heard a prominent young guard has left his school and is transferring to a 9th region power! Will start there on Monday, and may be bringing someone along with him. I thought/knew this move was just a matter of time.

I think that tells us everything we need to know, they believe in him and he believes in them. Nobody sees the blood sweat and tears they all put in together. They wanted that moment with each other, all the congrats in the world to them!

I mean he is the step father of one and uncle of other, so I’d surely hope it’s not the latter. Anytime I’ve been around or spoken to the guy he seems like a great person for kids to be around and learn from.

He does have strong connections, and I wouldn’t rule out them going that route to push them as hard as possible. Drew is that type of guy, and like many said coached their 8th grade AAU team to 38-0. This was while playing in the hardest circuit in the country with nky guys like Kinney, Turner, and Harney. He’s great for these young men!

Nowhere to watch live?

Sad thing is does anybody seeing it changing much in the future? I feel like the last handful of years the 10th has been the same teams being competitive.

Two of the better points made. From personal experience coming from a smaller school, that’s a huge part of it. Just hoping and wishing you can make it to NKU. It not being there would 100% take some shine off.

Yeah that just doesn’t sound enjoyable to me, the environment isn’t that far off at NKU. The pros outweigh the cons and that’s why it won’t ever be moved back.

Exactly, everyone is making all great points but at the end of the day everything is honestly about money. No way they turn away thousands of people that want to come each year just to satisfy some who want a better environment. I personally go every year and think the environment is just fine. Last night was an awesome opening session.

These gyms just aren’t holding enough people, the regional has brought in 7k for some semis and finals. Maybe could do first round games somewhere then bring everyone together in the big arena.

Would be tough to even fit tonight into a high school gym comfortably, it was packed for the first session of the tournament.

Like we’ve talked about over and over, the 10th is very weak. GRC would have to totally not show up one night for them to not win the region, and taking it a step further that alone will attract kids. Knowing you have a glaring path to Rupp each year!
