Both teams now 19-9. Unfortunately the Cougars are done for the season. Lloyd reaches the semis to play Newport on Friday.

That was a fun one. 

 

Thought there was goal tending on Lloyd when #14 for Conner got fouled towards the end of regulation. Would have put the Cougars up 1 with 9 seconds left in the 4th.

 

#5 for the Juggs played clutch basketball. Walker did his thing. 

 

The Newport / Lloyd Game should be must see action. Hoping both of tomorrow night's games will be as good as this one was!

Officials did a pretty good job for 31 minutes, letting both teams play a very physical game. Two large calls after the 31 minute mark that, IMHO, affected the outcome in this one.

1. Missed goaltend call with 9 sec left, on what should have been an and one. Video out there appears to confirm my observation.

2. Block call on Hamilton with 3+ to go in OT. Israel attempted to Euro between two Conner defenders, and ran over, a set, Hamilton.

Again, this is based off my observation, in real time, with a video to backup missed goaltend.

I don't see that as a goaltend.  Ball seemed to be at its apex but not headed down.  Was a foul called on the shot?

The bottom line in this game was, Conner just did not bring their A game.  They got out played.

Conner relied on their 3-point shooting all year long in beating Cov Cath, Highlands, Holy Cross, etc..... Think I saw where they were 2-14 last night. That's pretty much sums up their night. I also did not think it was goal tending on that play.

Newport/Lloyd will be a fun one to watch. I give the slight edge to Newport.

100% agree.  I blew this up and played it 10 times (real time and slow mo) and there was not a goaltend. Looks like Lloyd just made more plays to pull it out.

Conner hasn't posted stats yet. Agree on the 3s. 38% for the season, but ...

In losses: 5-18 vs. Henry Clay; 5-16 vs. Elder; 2-12 vs. Columbus St. Charles (OH); 7-25 vs. Hamilton (OH); 0-14 vs. Grant Co. In the 2 OT win vs. Newport, 8-28. Live or die by the three and struggle to break 50 points for a game.

Conner was also out-rebounded in every one of those games except an even 24/24 vs. Hamilton. 

If my notes are correct, the Cougars last lead after 4:30 in 3Q, was a one point lead (after a 3) with less than a minute in OT. Was not at the game, but from the livestream, I'd be interested to know the difference in rebounding, points in the paint, and turnovers. 

Hamilton in foul trouble was a key too. How many minutes on the bench with three, then four fouls in regulation before fouling out in OT.

On the surface, Conner had it going on - higher Massey Rating, better Strength of Schedule, a big win over then BGP #1 Cov Cath ...

I really liked the Cougars this season, admire Coach Otte, and that was a tough loss to a better team.

Was definitely at its apex after the Lloyd player goaltended it upwards.  Was very clear and reactions told so.  In person was more obvious than that video.  Would that have made a difference, maybe so maybe not.  Refs have a tough job and most HS refs just aren't used to calling goaltends.  

I had to watch like 15 times and have you guys talk about it to kind of understand why it should've been a goal tending call. What is the exact rule on goal tending? From my serious lack of rules knowledge it appears the hadn't started coming down yet, but the Lloyd defender did hit the net, does that matter?
