To summarize this, if an independent school wanted to get transfers for basketball, they probably could. I am sure it has happened before, and will probably happen again. If they were to seperate the private and public schools (boo), you would have to consider the independents private in my opinion.

Correct, DCA is a private school. That means that they can either accept or deny anyone, no matter where they reside. I have looked into Walton-Verona Independent Schools. If you reside in their school district, you must show proof of residency (just like any other school). If you are out of district, you must apply. The superintendent/board must approve each out-of-district student, and this approval has to be renewed every year. The tuition for these students is $2,100 a year.

There are two independents in the 32nd District: Williamstown and Walton-Verona. WV won the region in 2019, and had just a few semifinal appearances following. Williamstown has not been a legitimate threat to the region for many years. Outside of that, there is nothing. As mentioned by someone earlier in this thread, what do we consider independent schools in this case? I believe they must accept all kids inside their school district, but outsiders pay (and be accepted) to attend. Is this correct?

For the single bonus, it would have to be 3 or 4 fouls; you would never see the double bonus with 7 fouls. I would say 4 fouls is the single bonus, 6 being the double.

I have not had the pleasure of watching Danville Christian, but South Oldham will double their 3PA's, no matter how many they shoot. This has been Steve Simpson's method of success for many years, and it has gotten him another appearance at Rupp Arena. The one difference in this team and many before them is their openness on shots and discipline on the defensive end. In years prior it always felt like the Dragons had a 10-second shot clock to get the ball towards the rim. This year they are still quick to shoot, but they are getting much better looks. Miles is a playmaker up front, capable of finding anyone on the wing once he beats his defender.

If you can not find open looks yourself, you are not valuable at the college level. I am not sure if he plays the game differently in AAU, but nothing in high school games shows me that he has the desire to do so. However, I have seen his ability to do it and it is quite impressive. If he can find a way to do that consistently he will be a great addition to any team.

I'm not sure what you mean by this, but I have watched him numerous times this year and his teammates did not impact this much at all. He never truly looked to score, but he scored almost every time that he did. The only time teams normally sent two at him was on the block, where he will never be at the next level

Talk about instant karma. However, if they agreed to get rid of him before the season was even close to over then they should stick to their guns. They had to of known that their shot at a regional title was a legitimate one, and no matter the outcome their decision was made.

He has the perfect body for an SEC wing. That being said, if he can't find 15 shots a game at the high school level he isn't going to do so well against 5 guys built just like him.

What an absolute classic of a basketball game. These two teams went at it from the tip, and even got an extra 4 minutes to continue. The Dragons first win against North Oldham since the 2020-21 season.

They meet again. Two powerhouses in the region that have proved themselves continuously, and will face off against one another for the third time, this one with an appearance at Rupp Arena on the line. In the last two matchups, it has been all North Oldham. Their first matchup came on January 31st at South Oldham, the Mustangs conquering 66-53. They held 8th Region POTY Julian Miles to just 11 points on 4/20 shooting. Gray Schmittel and Austin Sears both finished the game with 17, Brooks Cargould following that up with 15. Their last contest was in the 29th District Championship, also hosted by South Oldham. North Oldham once again came out on top, winning this one 61-53. Cargould led the team with 18, Sears right behind him with 16. Miles had 22 in this one but still struggled shooting the ball, going just 7/21 from the field. The difference in the two games is offensive efficiency. In both games, North Oldham shot at least 10% better from the field than South Oldham. In game 1 the Mustangs were 25/47 (53.2%), game 2 being 24/49 (49%). South Oldham in these games were 21/50 (42%) and 18/55 (32.7). If South Oldham can value a few more possessions and get better looks offensively, look for this game to be much closer than the two previous matchups. As mentioned before, both of these teams were considered powerhouses, and potentially the two hottest teams in the region coming into postseason play. South Oldham started the year 5-3 and have not looked back since, going 23-2 following. Their two losses have both been to North Oldham. The Mustangs since dropping 3 of 5 games played over Christmas Break have gone 14-2, with both losses coming to top 25 teams, one being St. Xavier (#1 in KY). They always say it is hard to beat a team three times in a row, and I believe that will be the case here. It is always a very special environment when two Oldham schools match up, and I would expect nothing different here in the regional championship.

What if regions are messed with and he is back in the 9th? Even so, is he not nearing retirement regardless?

Next time before doing all of this just post "Attention: I am a fan of an opposing school and do not like Great Crossing and am very biased against them.", doing so will save us plenty of time, not debating with you.

Maybe they don't play well when attempting to freeze a game? Have tried it in the past and it led to turnovers? Normally, if you have a more talented team, you attempt to put teams away by continuing to play your game rather than freezing it out.

WIn some and lose some. A South and North final would be worth more than the price.

So what is your point here exactly? That the rest of the region is good? I don't understand what you are trying to get at here. They played St. X the first two weeks of the season. Any game played before Christmas Break is practically irrelevant. Bryan Station and Frederick Douglass were both ranked extremely high in the state. At the high school level, any matchup between the top-10 teams is going to be a toss-up 99% of the time.

Games that decide your teams fate, absolutely.
