Checking in from the wonderful campus of James Madison in Harrisonburg, VA. Have the Elder @ St. X (OH) game on. Very nervous for the JMU @ Delaware game tomorrow. If we lose, bye bye any chance of gameday. Also, cheering hard for Washington State tonight!

Not for football, but I was able to start broadcasting games for St. Henry basketball. It was audio only, but kids who couldn't make games were thankful that they could listen. Besides getting the equipment, you could stream for free. It also has the potential for advertisements. Another great thing that could come from it is that kids who want a career in either sports journalism or commentating can get a HUGE start in their career. Starting early helps them get better, which in the long run means better commentators on ESPN!

Rupp may not be in the best condition, but let's be real - if you're from Kentucky, your dream growing up is to play at Rupp Arena. Even if you aren't a UK fan, it is the Mecca of basketball in the Bluegrass.

Very relieved that St. X took care of business against Moeller. However, if the two teams meet in the playoffs, it won't be the same case. Lasalle was a shocker. Can anybody tell me why they lost? Also, the St. Ignatius vs Elder result contradicts their struggle against St. Eds. God bless the GCL!

Trinity beat Moeller by 7, X won by 23... St. X wins by 16. There you have it! But really that’d be a fantastic game!

Hm. You're right when the overall rankings for the state of Ohio say DeSales is at 20, but when you click on division III they are a little further down. Anyone know why the drop? Or am I reading it wrong?

I'm just saying... CCH scheduling big Ohio schools might be getting ahead of themselves. Last time they played a GCL South school it didn't go too well... But I love when they schedule teams like Sycamore. They usually are pretty good (until they face Colerain) and match up well against CCH. Kings, however, isn't the best competition for CCH. I'd like to see them face teams like Sycamore, Fairfield, and maybe Colerain if they keep the good seasons up. But again, GCL schools are a little far and above.

Great win for St. Henry, considering Calvary Christian looks to be solid this year. Are the Cru geared for the future? It seems like the freshmen and sophomore class is really showing up this year.

Absolutely they shouldn't. Not only does that prevent any possibility of giving the edge to their alma mater, but if the ref makes a controversial (but correct) call, it erases any accusation of bias.

I know Cincy St. X played St. John Bosco (California) at Nippert last year. They've played teams from Maryland, NJ, and Alabama too. They also are playing a team from Canada this year. I really can't wait to see how Trinity does and hope other schools try to schedule some out of state schools (not counting Ohio/Indiana)

Cov Cath vs. Beechwood would have a really rowdy crowd, which is a big part of what makes College Gameday so great. Also it checks off the rivalry box. However, if we're going to go based on the best playing the best then Scott County vs. Lasalle. Plus any GCL South school would have no trouble making sure the place is nuts.

Correction: You get primary points when a team you beat wins games and secondary points when a team you beat has a team they beat in a game (Taken from a text). This is to not have teams that schedule cupcakes and have easy divisions make it over teams who schedule tough games outside of their division. Again, see: St. X

Oh jeez, I thought they hadn't played Lex Cath or Cooper yet so I assumed he took the top teams on their schedule. Sorry about that!

If they manage to win that game, I will gain a ton of respect for CCH. Their win over Sycamore last year was good, but they aren't the best Ohio offers.

What are everyone's thoughts on the CCH vs. Beechwood game? If Beechwood keeps it close but loses do they still sit at the top?

Depends on what division they'd be playing in. If it was GCL South, maybe Trinity (that's a big maybe too). Don't see anyone else that I'd confidently say would/could. Now if they played in the GMC, a few more teams could make a case. Ohio playoffs are also heavily weighted by strength of schedule. Tougher teams with good records give teams more points. That's why St. X went 5-5 but still made the playoffs (and won the D1 state title!)

You have to remember the D1 standard in Ohio is very high.

Great player. When I broadcasted the Newport vs. St. Henry game last year I said his name a ton, seemed to be everywhere. Excited to see what he does this year and if he gets any other offers.

If he's the same HC goalkeeper as last year, I remember he single-handedly kept Holy Cross from not losing by double digits against St. Henry in all-A. I want to say he conceded 6, but it really could have been a lot more. He put on a fantastic display.
