Calvary Christian 10 Bishop Brossart 0

Calvary up 5-0 at half.

Whoa!!!

I knew they were good, but didn't see this coming. They tied Holy Cross earlier in the week, making their previous wins somewhat suspect, BUT to open a 5-0 lead on a pretty good Class A team like our Mustangs is surprising.

Hopefully, things will turn around in the second half.

Props to the Cougars if the trend continues.

10-0 final.

Wow! Looks like a tie with HC was a good thing. Congrats!!

Holy Mackerel Andy!!!!!!

That is a major league domination.

I had actually expected our guys to win.

Congratulations to Calvary - the 10th Region "A" Champs. They will have a play-off game with the 9th Region Champs for the honor of representing the two regions in the "A" State Tournament on the weekend of September 23/24th at Capital View Park in Frankfort. The 9th/10th Champ will play the 15th/16th champ at 1pm on the 23rd on Field Number 2.

Meanwhile, I'll cancel my plans for spending that weekend in Frankfort.

But keep up in mind they tied Holy Cross - let's write them off...

When playing a somewhat unknown entity, you look for indicators and validity. Tying a team that is seemingly struggling this season (HC) appeared to be an indicator that perhaps the Cougars weren't quite as advertised, and that they might again struggle against a team that has been competitive with other legit teams in NoKy..

They earned validity today. To me at least, by soundly defeating a district opponent who they had only defeated once previously in their existence.

With that win they have earned my complete respect. I'd even be thrilled for them if they hadn't thumped guys who I know and consider to be members of a hard working, committed, competitive soccer program.

I think I know how happy the Cougars must be tonight to have proven themselves on a grand stage, that they are definitely a legitimate contender to be a district and regional champion as well as being the 10th Region "A" Champ.

I nothing but congratulate them, and wish them the best of luck in defeating the 9th Region "A" Champ and then going to Frankfort and competing for a major title.

In studying horse racing past performances, oftentimes I will come along a race that is totally out of character for that horse. I draw a line through it and make a notation that reads - TBTBT (Too bad to be true). Obviously the Holy Cross running line for the Cougars was TBTBT.

We are proud of the boys- also side note that the holy cross goalie can keep them in any game- I dont know him but really was awesome vs Calvary- look forward to watching the cougars work hard and results will be there- great group of kids!

If he's the same HC goalkeeper as last year, I remember he single-handedly kept Holy Cross from not losing by double digits against St. Henry in all-A. I want to say he conceded 6, but it really could have been a lot more. He put on a fantastic display.

I'm shocked by this score if for no other reason it was against Brossart. IMO in almost every 10-0 game the score is in part due to the loosing team giving up at some point, (or/and the loosing team going deep, deep into the bench at some point) This is not a slight at any team that has lost by this score, more out of respect for the Brossart coach, his teams are some of the last I would expect to give up.
