  1. Would any MF fans know if we can pick up season tickets yet?
  2. My apologies Westside, I meant that MHSCardinal was being sarcastic as there was no influx of transfers as some 'guaranteed' on another board. As to your question about the economy, Mayfield is far from booming. In fact, we have lost kids who will dress out for McCracken or Murray or TN schools because their parents relocated due to jobs and financial reasons. Mayfield's success has nothing to do with a robust economy, recruits, or transfers.
  3. I believe he was being sarcastic. There was a great deal of talk about transfers in the off-season, but none of them materialized. I only saw two transfers, brothers from the Northeast I believe, and I don't think I have seen them around the last few days. Mayfield's teams are home grown. I've been watching this year's starters since they were 3rd graders. Add it to the list of 'how do they do it' questions. How does a town this small produce such competitive teams annually? Must be something in the water I guess.
  4. Sometimes it's not about wins and losses, but finding the right guy that can mold young men and make high school football a rewarding and memorable experience. I'm rooting for them and wish them the best.
  5. Great read. Owensboro Catholic in 2a. I predict they will give the Louisville privates, Mayfield, Danville, and/or LCA all they want. Paducah Tilghman in 3a. PT hit a home run with their coaching hire. Don't see them competing for a title, but I could see them pulling an upset or two in the playoffs.
  6. I'm with you. The implications of this are huge and I can't believe this isn't receiving more discussion. Sure, WKY vs UK as host is a big deal, but I'm far more concerned with how this cross-bracket thing will look. Is there a chance that teams due home field advantage throughout the playoffs this season might lose out on said advantage?
  7. I guess I need to move my hotel reservations. Any suggestions?
  8. The kids I've spoken with are ecstatic about the prospect of playing at Kroger field. I sure hope they get the opportunity. At one time, there was some talk about east/west cross-bracketing the playoffs. Has that been shot down?
  9. What are Coach Clark's offensive/defensive philosophies? Does he have strict systems he adheres to or does he adjust schemes based on his personnel?
  10. Newb question I know, but I've always been more partial to the oblong ball rather than the round ball. Can someone help me with the three second rule? Is this rule the same at all levels? What exactly constitutes a violation? Do both feet have to leave the painted area? I get the feeling they let it go as long as there is some movement and you're not camped out directly under the goal.
  11. So we don't have to teach dbs to 'get their head around' anymore?
  12. Plan A, Joe Morris! Plan B... {eerie sound of crickets}
  13. I'm sensing that last season has lit a fire in the MF football program. The strength & conditioning program has ramped up and is more grueling than ever. On top of the required workouts, we got kids voluntarily hitting the gym for additional lifting/conditioning, sometimes two or three times a day. If MF doesn't make it back to BG, it won't be because they got outworked in the off season.
  14. So much talk about all that money and those facilities, but such things can lead to their own problems. Booster money is great, but it can be detrimental if it ends up ‘buying’ playing time or creates unwarranted favoritism. You compete against a program from elementary through middle into JV and varsity and you know their team and roster about as well as your own. You see key positions where the best players are standing on the sidelines as reserves to inferior players and you shack your head. I know, I’ve never been to a MC practice, but it was blatantly obvious that this was happening. I root for MC any week they aren’t playing Mayfield and I would love to see them compete with the big boys. Step one towards that goal, hire a coach with enough clout to be above influence and politics. Hopefully, MC finds a coach that puts the best 11 on the field regardless of how much their daddy donated or what their last name might be.
  15. Rogers would be a home run hire... for MC's opponents. Hope he has reviewed the rules regarding actively recruiting players. He struggled with that area of the code in the past.
  16. If he has indeed signed with MC, perhaps an announcement was delayed until after the team banquet which is this evening, Jan 30th.
  17. My guess, the staff would be HC Cliff Dew, OC Stephen Hatchel and DC Chris Champion. Would hate to lose Joe, but that's a really strong staff and as mentioned wouldn't miss a beat. Probably not going to happen, but I would love for Farris to come back in some capacity. Coach Cody is excellent, but that Oline grew up under Farris and his departure definitely had an impact. MF will land on its feet, but I hope it's a bridge we don't have to cross anytime soon.
  18. Amazing. Great work. Man do I feel lazy. You go and do all this while I spend my kill time at work Candy Crushing, watching silly pet videos, and reading these forums.
  19. Thank goodness for these All-Star games. Otherwise, this young man's highschool career ends, not in a red helmet as it should, but instead watching from the sidelines in street clothes. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this young man play and wish him the best going forward.
  20. I swear I searched specifically for his name. He was one of my prime suspects. Any others?
  21. Congrats Rambo on Maloney and Williams All-State selections. I'm looking forward to you guys coming to Mayfield next year. Feel free to leave the Williams kid back home though. I'm good with just watching him on film, I don't need to see my guys trying to tackle him in person.
  22. Did anyone make the list on both sides of the ball? Is that even allowed?
  23. There are no words to express the respect and admiration I have for your boys. Them Brimer boys are the embodiment of everything MF football stands for and are examples of exactly why I love my Cardinals. Please let them know how much this community appreciates them. You have every right to be very proud. Congratulations!
