If the MF player had gained control of that ball before the goal line, we know how the story would end. MF would go heavy set and plow in for the touchdown. Unless something stupid happens like a tight end engages with a defensive lineman who does a spin move and you get a ridiculous block in the back penalty, MF scores easily and we would have to find other things to talk about.

With the addition of Giron to the linemen pool, MF should be very solid upfront on both sides of the ball. Linebackers are crazy good with Tapia back from injury. Bright and L. Arnett are givens. The only real question marks are receiver and kicker. There's talk that Kent Trey Matthews might line up at receiver and I for one would love to see it. Who knows, you might even see Bright out wide or in the slot occasionally catching some of those bubble screens with Tyler in the backfield. I expect you will hear the names Harrison, Lumson, and Murrell quite a bit next season. If the young receivers can step up and we can find a kicker, the sky is the limit.

The referee didn’t see it either. The official signaling it a catch is completely shielded from the play and couldn't possibly know if it hit the ground or not. He should have asked for help from officials with a better angle, but I think he got caught up in the facemasking thing and just rolled with it being a catch.

Ironically, I feel slighted and insulted by this allegation.

This issue was hotly debated throughout the season. In an effort to resolve the dispute, a meeting was convened at War Memorial Stadium on Friday, November 27, 2015 allowing each of the dissenting parties an opportunity to provide evidence supporting their positions. At the conclusion of said convention, it was established beyond question that Mayfield does indeed have the best defense in 2a. The matter now stands as settled.

I don't doubt that it happened. I didn't mean that in a 'show me a pic or it didn't happen' kind of way. I was just wondering if there was something I could show MF players as to what they might expect on Sunday.

Several MF players went in early this morning for a film session before classes started. They didn't seem overconfident to me...

A true statistical distribution would have 40 in 3a and 39 in both 2a and 4a. Whether based on districting or some other motivation, fact remains you are creating an artificial splice that unnaturally crops DS into 2a. If pure math had been applied, the largest team in 2a would be the smallest team in 3a. I'm thankful that didn't happen. I would hate for Mayfield to win a title only to have the haters say, "that's great, but you didn't beat the defending champs." Fortunately, the classes fell the way they did allowing MF to prove their point on the field.

Hmmm, there's something suspicious here. Just glancing at it, it jumps out at you that the 2a/3a line should be drawn at 315. >= 315 would be 3a, i.e. ranks 111-150, not 111-149. Evenly distribute that chart without looking at the names and I guarantee you the 150th team goes into the 3a bucket. Someone, somewhere made a conscious decision to magically draw that line such that the DS would remain in 2a.

Coach Morris knows football and I have a 'Joe knows football' t-shirt to prove it. As many have already said, he's as good at in-game adjustments as any in the business. The entire staff does an amazing job, but i'll point out 4 assistants. DC Dew is a defensive genius and does a great job with his schemes every week. Our kids are always prepared for what the opposing offense will bring and are rarely, if ever, out of position. John Ferris and Todd Hatchell take care of our OL and they do an awesome job teaching technique and fundamentals. What they have gotten out of our young, undersized OL this year is a testimate to how great they can coach. Finally, Chris Champion works with the DL, but his greatest contribution is the work he does as strength and conditioning coordinator. When our boys still have gas in the tank late in the 4th, it is owed to Champ. Mostly what makes our staff great is hard work and hours spent. It's rare to drive by our facility and not see coaches parked there, nights and weekends included. Sorry this was so long, but MF has an incredible staff and they deserve their props. Our kids are blessed to play for them and I wouldn't want my son playing anywhere else.

Thwart a great passing attack one week and then stuff an amazing ground game the next. Takes a very special defense to handle those two high-powered offenses that come at you in such contrasting styles.

MF kids are tough as nails! They could have easily packed it in when they got down 13, but they didn't. Instead, they did do what MF teams do... kept fighting, scratching, & clawing until they found a way to win. Heart > size!!!

I had several of the MF players over for T-giving dinner and they are ready to go. I quizzed them on the scouting report and they are very well prepared for this one. They ate too much, but they always do. Would just like to say, we have some outstanding young men in our program. I couldn't be prouder of them, not just as players, but as people. MF fans have much to be thankful for regardless of the outcome tomorrow night.

"will play also"? Well, they started last week and played almost every down if that's what you mean by 'will play also'.

We only have 1 OL under 200. From left to right we go 240, 250, 190, 250, 240. The 195 er you refer to on the DLine, assuming your talking about MB, will probably not get the start, but will rotate in. I think BA, DM, and JH will line-down to begin the game.

You know your team better than me, but I'm not buying 495 lbs between the C and LG. Kids look about a buck sevety-five each, 200 lbs at best. We're talking about #s 72 and 75 right?

With the defensive struggle this one is shaping up to be, a field goal or two may make the difference. How is DS's placekicker?

DS's D-line is good, but certainly not the best MF has faced. Take Murray as an example, I'm not seeing any Corey Dickerson or Tre Hornbuckle caliber athletes up front for DS.

When the mighty DeSales defense forces turnovers, do we call that great defense or just the other team making mistakes?

"Mayfield has a good defense, but we have a better one." "We did just put up 37 on CAL. Their defense is probably the second best in 2a" So how far down is MF on your list of 2a defenses. Do we even make your top 5?
