  1. I don't have a horse in this race and I won't pretend to know the details, but I will say that some 'students' and 'kids' are physically grown men that can pose very serious dangers to their peers if allowed to go unrestrained. If my daughter was in harm's way (just as an example, in no way saying that's what happened here) I would want a teacher to intervene even he had to get 'hands on' to do so.
  2. I guess I'm old fashioned, but I always start with 2 questions: can you run the ball? can you stop the run? MF should be able to do both next year. If MF can get enough qb play to keep teams honest with the number of helmets they put in the box, they will be just fine.
  3. It's funny how film changes things come Monday morning. I left that game thinking the gap between the teams was wider than it actually is. Please don't think I'm taking anything away from CAL, because I'm not. They were the better team and they deserved to win. I'm just saying MF was in that thing more than most realize and the notion that it was a beat down is being vastly exaggerated.
  4. CAL's senior, D-1 linemen were just better than MF's sophmore and junior trench workers who won't play a down of college ball. I know several of those underclassmen are absolutely devastated this morning, not just because they lost, but because they feel like they let their teammates, classmates. coaches, and especially the senior class down. They will be back in the weight room on Monday and they will work their tails off to get better. Will it be enough to catch the Louisville privates? I guess we will find out this time next fall.
  5. To the victor go the spoils. CAL is the better team. You were right and I was wrong. Point proven.
  6. Congrats to CAL. Games are won in the trenches and CAL was much, much better than MF up front. Good luck to CAL at state.
  7. This. The 'flagrant' part of this has more to do with the way the kid goes down like he got shot in the head and lays there with his arms all stretched out and less to do with the hit itself. I can accept that an official would view this play as targeting. It's the subjective nature of deeming it flagrant leading to ejection and missing of games that I find troubling.
  8. Yea I know, it’s a contact sport and they wear pads for a reason blah blah blah, but targeting should not be a part of high school football and has to go. I could spend an hour on Hudl and easily find you two dozen plays, especially on kickoffs and punts, where a player 'picks out' or targets an opponent and cleans them up when they are looking the other direction. Most of these are never flagged and they don't draw ejections. This may sound silly, but I see as much 'targeting' on extra points/PATs as I do anywhere else. Rarely does a Friday night go by, that I don’t see a defensive player position himself at the back of the end zone and then run full speed and crash into an offensive lineman who has been told to stand there and take it or face up-downs at practice on Monday. These human torpedoes aren't trying to make a play on the ball or block a kick, they are just taking advantage of an opportunity to get a free hit on a player from another team that just scored on them. If it's all about safety and unnecessary hits, why not do something about these cheap shots?
  9. To answer this, we must first know the location of the transgressor's school. There is one set of rules for Louisville/Northern KY students and an entirely different set of rules for all other kids in the state.
  10. Holler at me Fri and I'll buy you lunch. The wife is excited about Black Friday shopping in Louisville and I desperately need to be doing something somewhere else.
  11. I was just messing around. I hope you didn't take it the wrong way. You seem to be one of the really good guys on here and I always respect your opinions. I'm actually in agreement with you on CAL's front lines. They are really impressive. This is going to be a monumental task for MF's big-belly's. One thing about it though, when challenged, they have always answered the bell. If CAL gets the better of MF up front, I can promise you, it won't be because MF backed down from anything. They will fight and scrap you all night, no matter the odds or size difference.
  12. Dt, you're just being a MF homer. Don't you get it? They beat DeSales. That must mean they are the greatest 2a team since players wore leather helmets. Haven't you heard, this CAL team would whoop the 91 Redskins in the trenches? Last year, DeSales "was twice the size of MF". That's right, every 250 lb MF kid had to line down against a 500 pounder. And this CAL team is even better than that. You're dreaming bro. No way could any MF team ever hope to hang with a team that bested DeSales by 7 points.
  13. I can't get over these OC fans saying they were one bad incomplete pass call and an injury or two away from being MF's equal. MF played without their starting nose tackle. As I'm sure you're aware, nose tackle in a 3-4 is a very valuable commodity. MF rolls out 4 WRs that are a complete and total mismatch of running clock proportions versus OCs secondary. These WRs were taken out of the game, not by anything OC accomplished, but by the weather. The conditions forced MF to play to OCs strength, which is a very tough and stubborn front 7, and they were still 22 points better. With the playbook fully open, a game between these two gets real ugly, real fast. I have a great deal of respect for OCs players, coaches, fans, and program. You have a great team and are going to be scary good in the very near future. However, you are simply not being realistic about last night's contest and your credibility ship is listing. If you need me, I'll be over in the MF vs CAL thread... my team is still playing.
  14. How would you rate CAL's DLine this year versus DeSales DLine last year? MF's Oline is essentially the same, but a year older, wiser, and better. I'm thinking that might be the best metric in figuring out where we stack up.
  15. I haven't had a chance to look at the Trajon catch, but keep in mind he only needs 1 foot in hs fb. Everything about him can be across the white, but if that right foot was in and down, it's a catch. The Lumpson fighting for extra yards play looked like a TD to me. He took out the pylon as he was stretching out. I was across the field so I could be wrong on that as well. Both could very well be blown calls as that crew got more wrong than they got right. Regardless, there was plenty of hometown cooking to more than make-up for those two calls. The Fox interception/interference absurdity comes to mind as one example among many. The officials were terrible. Noone can dispute that, but that doesn't change the reality that MF is the better team.
  16. I've mostly seen Paulson at left DE. Does he always line up there or do they move him around?
  17. I'm going to let all your other biased, nonsensible ramblings go, but this one crosses the line. Come on bro, this is a young man who has spent ten years working tirelessly towards this moment in his life. It wasn't a dirty play and he wasn't throwing punches or anything. You only get one senior year. He deserves better than to have his end like this.
  18. How does an officiating crew not qualified to referee the potato sack race at the elementary field day get put in charge of a regional championship football game? That a football field has not one, but two 40 yrd lines is a concept that intellectually overwhelmed these buffoons. That's right, this band of circus stooges actually marked a penalty off from the wrong 40 yrd line. Does the KHSAA drug test officials? The most reasonable explanation for this fiasco is that someone was high or drunk or both.
  19. I've watched it and OC did not dominate that game up front. They got the better of it by a slim margin, but it was pretty even in the trenches. NH seemed to have no trouble getting pressure on OC's qb, which should be a cause for concern for OC this week. Of course NH didn't rack up huge yardage through the air. OC spent much of the night rushing 3 and dropping 8. Worked well against NH, asking for trouble against Trajon Bright. The dumbest penalties were NH jumping off sides on freeze plays. Those were a major contributor to OC's offense. I get it, you love your team and you're going to advocate for them, but that game was pretty even. It may have been a fluke and I trust you that OC is better than they showed in that one contest, but NH could have easily won that game.
  20. Who was the OCath fan last year who blamed all woes on receivers dropping passes? I fully expected him to be on here discussing his 'dropped balls'.
  21. North Hardin should have put OCath away when they had them on the ropes.
  22. Hudl accounts aren't handed out at birth with your social security #? That's how we do it in Mayfield. I assumed that was the standard everywhere.
