First Round Blowouts
BigRedDiesel replied to Colonels_Wear_Blue's topic in KY Football (High School)
I came away from the Mayfield game last night sincerely hoping and praying none of those TCC kids they carted off were seriously injured. I hope that doesn't sound braggy or condescending. I don't mean it like that, just trying to be realistic. I give TCC's kids lots of credit for playing hard and fighting until the end. But with all this talk about player safety, we need to take a look at these games. Someone is going to get hurt. -
Excellent write-up. I just hope your writing is better than your predicting.

No, it wasn't DC. This was last year I'm talking about. Kid had to go 250+. I want to say his number was 34, but I'll have to find video from last year to double check. I thought he was an underclassman, but perhaps he graduated. Man was he a load to bring down. -

Awesome! Congratulations to him. Another question, what happened to the big kid CC lined up at RB some last year? Looked like The Fridge Perry back there. I was dreading seeing our guys trying to tackle him again. Was he a senior? -
Go for a 2 point conversion up 34?
BigRedDiesel replied to THS2011's topic in KY Football (High School)
Timely question given the scores we will see this weekend. I say go for it, but my team's coach never does and he has forgotten more about football than I will ever know so I must be wrong on this one. -

I was really impressed with CC's Riley and VanHooser. Two great ball players right there. Did I hear the PA guy correctly? VH is now CC's all-time leading tackler? Too many positives for MF to cover them all, so I'll go with this one: Cherry had what may have been his best game as a Cardinal. Not sure if he ate the right thing before the game or someone made him mad or what, but he was definitely more aggressive . Que is just such a freak of an athlete. It's all up to him really. If and when he chooses to assert himself and decides he wants to be the best player on the field, ain't no one going to stop it from happening. -

Counting up number of athletes, talking just sheer size, speed, and physical prowess, I say PT has as many of them as any team Mayfield has played. I still wouldn't be surprised to see those pieces come together and PT make some noise in the playoffs. -
Class 2A Playoff Bracket
BigRedDiesel replied to All State Baseball's topic in KY Football (High School)
I'm with you on excitement level, but I think it shapes up pretty well for the Cards. We've got two tough teams (CC & OCath) with two cupcakes sandwiched in between for tweeks and putting the final touches on things. Assuming we can get by OCath, I think we will be thankful for those two working bye weeks. -

The reality is there is no easy path. This class is loaded on both sides. The team that wins 2a this year will have accomplished something monumental. -

Care to expand a little? Ball crossing the plain? Touchdown pass ruled out of bounds? I'm just curious what happened. -

Good job by MF of taking care of business on homecoming. Not much to be gleamed from this one outside of the fact that Ballard's QB is crazy good. Canon for an arm, great vision, escapability, really good at keeping plays alive and throwing on the run. If he had any help at all, there's no telling the numbers that young man would put up. I loved MF's radio booth tonight. -
This is that magical time of year when the best coaching staff in the state analyzes all the data they have collected over the first half of the season and utilizes it to build a championship contender. Adjustments are being made, tweeks are being implemented, packages are being added, strengths are being emphasized, and weaknesses are being negated. It's all quiet because much of this is top secret stuff we aren't allowed to talk about and the rest of 2a won't see for another five weeks or so. Don't you worry, the MF camp is very busy and they will be ready come November.

BigRedDiesel replied to 16thBBall Fan's topic in KY Football (High School)
There's talking the talk and then there's walking the walk. Been lots of talk in 2a this year. With their resume thus far and that performance Friday night, DeSales is clearly more walk than talk. DeSales has established themselves as the obvious front-runner in my opinion.
