I'm sorry these first round games even happen. Smh.

Simon Kenton 48 to 17 over Jefferstown. It was 34 to 3 at halftime. Jtown scored 14 in the 4th.

I love football players getting to play football. I don't want to keep any kid from playing the game they love, but seriously...what is the point in games like these?

I get it, there are the Butlers who get to beat the Ryles out there in a given year...there are the occasional #4 teams who beat the occasional #1 teams on there based on whatever in the world is going on in their district. But do games like that efficiently defend the organized murder that takes place elsewhere in the state in the first round blowouts we see happen?

How many first round upsets are there compared to the other games where top ranked teams absolutely dismantle lower ranked teams?

Our game was not competitive on the scoreboard. However, our 2 seniors got to extend their careers another game and the rest of our team got experience against a great program and potential state champion. Once our kids settled in I think the game was a great learning opportunity for our program because we play so many sophomores and freshmen and our kids played hard.

Boyle County got to get a lot of kids reps as well in a playoff game. Don’t see the harm in 1 vs 4. It’s a football game. Compete and have fun.

Everyone knocks SK schedule but they are moving on to the 2nd round. While Ryles tough schedule didn't help them.

Give it a rest Ryle played a team with a winning record (6-4) and SK played a team that was (3-7). Much like SK’s regular season’s schedule another cupcake. Ryle beat SK and that is all the comparison’s anyone should need.

Nah all I have heard is how SK plays nobody and it wont help them playoff time. Last time SK played Butler SK beat them.

This thread is about first round blowouts. Grind your axe elsewhere and quit threadjacking.

There will be blowouts in every round of the playoffs. There probably will be a blowout or two in championship games. So the point of this is ... ?

By the way, there were blowouts when it was four classes also.

One more thing - every other sport has blowouts like this in their playoffs as well.

Bad part: Obviously it’s the lopsided scores.

Good part: If a team/staff really has the attitude that they want to get better it is another week of practice and another game opportunity to take a step in that direction.

In a state where football is often overshadowed by another sport every chance at improvement needs to be taken.

For the better teams it’s a chance for the backups and JV kids to get game experience. The Franklin-Simpson JV/Freshmen played the entire second half last last. Doesn’t matter who the opponent is that is valuable experience.

IMO, football is supposed to be a competitive sport and not everyone deserves a participation ribbon or in this case, a playoff game. The majority of these 1st round games that require some travel will have poor gates, so, from a financial standpoint, I don't see the advantage of having all or the majority of teams earning a bid.

I came away from the Mayfield game last night sincerely hoping and praying none of those TCC kids they carted off were seriously injured.

I hope that doesn't sound braggy or condescending. I don't mean it like that, just trying to be realistic. I give TCC's kids lots of credit for playing hard and fighting until the end. But with all this talk about player safety, we need to take a look at these games. Someone is going to get hurt.
