Mayfield rounding up for a playoff run!

For Mayfield it proves they are clearly a team in the 2A Title picture

 

For Caldwell it proves they are much further away from the top of their class then they may have thought

The Cardinals were very sharp offensively in this one, scoring on several long pass plays and also moving the chains on the ground.. The Tigers had several other scoring opportunities to keep it closer early in the game, but, got stopped on 4th down once, botched a couple of snaps on a couple of others and got picked on another.. Each time they were inside the Cards 30.. You can't shoot yourself in the foot like that against quality opponents.. I don't think they win even if they converted on each of those chances, because they had no answer for Mayfield's potent attack, especially thru the air.. Caldwell is a good defensive team, so, the 55 the Cards put up was especially impressive, especially with the wind and rain.. Didn't hear final stats on this one, but, I'm sure Mayfield had at least 500 total yards with over 300 thru the air.. Stinson and Guthrie both threw the ball well in this one.. Mayfield looks to be peeking at just the right time.. I look for Caldwell to make a good playoff run as well.. Good luck to both teams, going forward..

Good showing by the Cardinals tonight. I didn’t think we would hang that many points especially considering the weather conditions but that jus shows you what this team can do when they are focused. A running clock on this years Caldwell team at Caldwell speaks volume. This game was a good test heading into the playoffs. Mayfield is gonna be a tough out in the next 4 weeks especially when we play at home.

Mayfield's definitely a contender.. I can't say enough how sharp they were tonight. On the road, poor weather conditions and against a good defensive team.. They took control early and never let up.. Even the JV unit moved the ball well..

 

As far as Caldwell is concerned, I feel they're ranked about where they should be in there class, 6 to 7 range.. I think the Top 5 of Belfry, Boyle, Corbin, ETown and Central are all a couple of notches better.. I'd rank them as the best of rest along with Lex Catholic and Casey Co. right there, as well.. They simply made too many mistakes tonight when they had opportunities to stay in the game, but, outside of this lopsided loss, there overall resume is pretty solid..

Well i listened to the game, on vacation, sounded like MHS dominated on both sides of the ball. Very good win against a team i thought would give Mayfield a decent test. Will be 3 weeks before we are tested, Owensboro Catholic looks to be player better ball now that earlier, look forward to that game.

Didn't see this being that one-sided. I thought Mayfield would win, but the games at Caldwell are unusually pretty entertaining. Mayfield has as good a shot as anyone to take the 2A title.

The Tigers will have two weeks to get healthy and prepare for either E’town or the blue tornadoes. Lucky for Caldwell, only one team of the top 7 is in the path to Lexington.

It should be a good game for sure. Hopefully Trel Riley can play after injury tonight. It will be an intriguing game with the Jaggers connection.

Last nights game was like most of the ones in the past that Mayfield wins, it's hardly ever close and most likely a blow out when they win, it's been that way for 50 years. Caldwell isn't as bad as they look against Mayfield and Mayfield fans should not get that excited beating Caldwell like that, Like I said it happens like that most of the time. Caldwell County either needs to play them early or not at all if this kind of performance continues, they are beat before they play and getting demoralized before the playoffs start isn't the best thing for any team. The Tigers are always better than they look against Mayfield and wouldn't be 8 and 2 right now if they weren't, that being said when you play a team 50 times and they win 40 of them it messes with you.
