I was really impressed with CC's Riley and VanHooser. Two great ball players right there. Did I hear the PA guy correctly? VH is now CC's all-time leading tackler?

 

Too many positives for MF to cover them all, so I'll go with this one: Cherry had what may have been his best game as a Cardinal. Not sure if he ate the right thing before the game or someone made him mad or what, but he was definitely more aggressive . Que is just such a freak of an athlete. It's all up to him really. If and when he chooses to assert himself and decides he wants to be the best player on the field, ain't no one going to stop it from happening.

Going into the season, I thought 7-3 was about the best Caldwell County could hope for this season after having to replace its entire offensive line and unexpectedly having to break in a new quarterback.

 

The Tigers went 8-2 and lost to 10-0 Christian County and 9-1 Mayfield.

 

The Cardinals were the best team Caldwell has faced this season. I think Mayfield's overall speed was just too much for the Tigers to cope with. And, Caldwell missed some opportunities early with good field position that maybe could have made a game of it, but the Cardinals this year are a bad matchup for the Tigers (and for a lot of teams for that matter). However, I think Caldwell may have found some things in the run game that may pay dividends later on in the playoffs.

 

Not sure I understand some Caldwell fans who want to run up the white flag after one loss. Mayfield popped the Tigers 48-7 in 2012 and Caldwell came back to go to the state championship game.

Caldwell lost a game like that against Mayfield a few years ago and lost their best receiver for the year in that game. Also getting beat like that is demoralizing right before the playoffs. You must be a young fan because this has been happening for a long time with the exception of a few years lately. It's the way that Caldwell plays when they play Mayfield that has people disgruntled, It's always the Tigers worst performance of the year when they lose, not even a game, so a little griping on the message boards is going to be normal.

I am a young fan (:lol2::lol2::lol2:) and I don't see anything wrong with Caldwell County playing Mayfield whatsoever. I look at it as a bowl game before the playoffs. It used to be a lot more important when the two teams were in the same district, but now it's just a fun game at the end of the season. Most of today's players have no idea that Mayfield used to keep Caldwell out of the playoffs every year 20 or 30 years ago.

 

Caldwell usually doesn't look as good against Mayfield as it does against other teams because Mayfield is usually a lot better than those other teams Caldwell plays. It's not like the Tigers just decide to play like crap that week.

 

As for the injury thing, Caldwell lost one of its starting corners for the season due to an injury in the Trigg County game a few weeks ago. Should the Tigers stop playing Trigg because someone got hurt one time?

 

As a Caldwell fan, sure I'd like to see the Tigers beat the Cardinals every year. But that's just not going to happen. It's still a big game, typically draws a big crowd at both venues, and has virtually no bearing on the playoffs whatsoever. I bet Caldwell does just fine this week against Hart County.

 

Some of Caldwell's most memorable wins ever have come against Mayfield. We wouldn't have that if the Tigers played (insert weak team here) instead. So I'm all for the Caldwell-Mayfield game!

I bet you're talking about Dee Cain #25 He was a big kid, 6' 2" and 215+. His senior year was 2015/16. He would line up in the backfield in short yardage situations and he played wideout and just about wherever he needed to play on defense. He's playing at WKU now.

There isn't anything wrong with playing them but wouldn't you want to be on a roll going in to the playoffs or get beat 55 to 14. As for playing like crap against them, that's up for debate, now the injury thing is a little different, we have to play Trigg, we don't have to play Mayfield. Now I don't expect to beat Mayfield every year but I do expect us to be competitive when we are 8 and 1. I agree it draws big crowds but it might have a bearing on us in the playoffs, when Sivills got hurt we lost in the first round and looked terrible against Butler County, some would say we never recovered. The series is pretty lopsided and being on the losing end by such a margin isn't that much fun. In about 20 years we will see if you like it as much as you do now. I like your optimism though.

Oh yea, that was Zavion Henderson. He was a senior last year.
