Not sure about the big boy. The QB is a sophmore Tyler Reusch. I heard they had a big kid over the summer but believe he went back to Grant County.

The only thing I will say about Beechwood this year is that they are more balanced. Last year they had three really good players that they relied on every game and when Stringer got hurt, that really hurt them. This year they have no stars and they are mixing in a lot more players, which is keeping them fresher. They are young but they play hard, and are well coached. They will be better come the end of the year than they are now.

Beechwood is young and I will be shocked if they dont win a couple of titles the next three years after this year. They have a lot of talent in the junior, sophmore and freshman classes.

A Lot of that has to do with how young they are. They start 4 sophmores and 6 play a lot. 2 start each on the offense and defensive line. They have a small senior class with only 8 that play significant minutes. They will be fine and that future continues to look bright. Was very impressed with Cov Cath and see them as a contender for the forseeable future.

Yes his dad is Chris who played for Dixie and UK. His other son, Adam is a sophmore starting both ways for the Varsity.

I woukd not be surprised to see Taft win here. They are better this year. Beat Hamilton Badin and only lost to Wyoming 10-7. wyoming is pretty strong.

Why? Do you want development or just wins? Steve Funke does a good job and he is hard on his kids to do the right thing. If you look at the key players for SK, most of them played for Twenhofel, with the exception of Racke and a couple of others. Kincaid, Carter, Williams, Holt, Vance, Cooper, Hayden, Murray, Turner, Daroel and Sergent, all played for Twenhofel

I thought SK looked very good and has built a great system, but they did have a bunch of juniors, including QB Matt Shearer, who plays quite a bit of varsity. I thought SK should have subbed in the bench when BW had 5 freshman on the field in the 3rd qtr, but SK had a ton of kids that didnt see the field.

Cov Cath sophmore QB, Tyler Reusch did quite a bit. Ran for two TD's, threw and extra point and then scrambled and threw a 40 yd strike on the run for a Td to one of the widouts. Tyler was scrambling all over and Ryle had a tough time with him. The cov cath defense was very good as well. Was not all that impressed with Ryle. They were not real big or physical. Was impressed with no 9 Jake Smith though.

Sorry if i struck a nerve and didn't know I needed to be asked my opinion. I am not saying you are wrong at all and admire people like you who volunteer your time. I just think some parents force these things on kids thinking they are the next Jordan and by the time they get to HS they are burnt out. Other kids are just getting started and many times pass up the kids up who just dont want to do it anymore.

If your 2nd graders are doing that much, maybe thats the problem. Maybe the kids that dont have parents forcing that down their throat when they are 8 allows them to not be burnt out when they get to high school. Just a thought. Kids need to be kids.

I There is good talent ar CC. Not sure how it will translate down the road but I am pretty sure if all freshman available at CCH would have played, they would have won comfortably.

Probably is but isnt CCH two best players playing up?

You really missed the point. Even if healthy Pikeville probably wins 6 or 7 out of 10. But you have to admit Pikeville would have been hard pressed to win it if They did not have the starting full back and running back on top of a middle linebacker. Pugh is really good and Pikeville would not have been near the team without him in my opinion.

I agree and really hope they add a couple more tough games. I know that are stuck in a horrible district but maybe a decent team from Cincy or getting Highlands or Simon Kenton back on the schedule. I would rather play tough teams and learn, even if its a loss, than playing Some team where its a 50-0 bore at halftime which you get nothing out of it.

I will chime in on this. First let me say Pikeville has a very strong team and very good players, they deserved to win last night. I had never seen them play but just watching them warm up i knew Beechwood would have hands full. I looked at my wife and said this would be tough. Main reason was Beechwood was without stringer and The FB and linebacker Sowards. You take Pugh and Charles off Pikeville and Beechwood probably wins. On another note, Braydon Combs decided not to play this year. He goes about 6'4 250 and was a two way starter last year. He is a big time baseball player and has a full ride to UK. So to take nothing away from Pikeville, if Beechwood is at full strength, they probably win. Also, Beechwood had momentum in the 3rd and if they stop Pikeville on that 3rd and long that went for 60 and a TD, they still may have won. beechwood had all of the momentum and Pikeville was flat at that point but that changed the game. Congrats to Pikeville. Beechwood will be back.

Why are the final games not played at Louisville or UK? As an outsider, WKU makes no sense for 3/4 of the state. It seems like UK and Louisville are much more neutral as far as travel and it seems like most kids are huge UK fans so that would make more sense. Why would any team have to travel over 4 hours to play a championship game?

WI have watched Russellville on tape and in my opinion they will have no chance against Beechwood. I just dont see them keeping up. As for Beechwoods loss to CCH it was just a bad game. They scored within two minutes and it was all down hill. I think they got a little over confident and didnt take the punch but i think they learned from that. We will see.

How big was the kid in the 8th grade that got cut and went to transy. If he was that big in the 8th grade then the coach was nuts to cut him.

Does he play football? If not he should be at that size.

Simon Kenton can win it all and if not this year then I think next year they should be the favorite. They are just killing teams and have a lot of good talent. Marksberry has done a nice job. Window for a state title is this year or next for them.

New cath has talent and has big athletic kids. I am surprised they are not better. The QB could be very good with the right schooling. 6'5" with huge hands and can move, throws a nice ball. Only a junior so I expect big things from him. Hopefully they work with him because I think he can be the best QB in Nky next year. He has the tools, just needs coaching.
