Simon Kenton was in control the whole game. The Beechwood defense made the Pioneers work for their scores. The Beechwood offense could not do anything against Simon Kenton's defense. Beechwood had to bring up their freshman QB as the JV QB was injured in last night's varsity game.

The standout player in the game was Simon Kenton's RB Jon Sergent. He is a hard runner with some good cuts and enough speed to be dangerous. He scored two of SK's TD's, one on a 4th down pass reception on 4th down. He should have been tackled short of the first down but made a really good cut that caused the Beechwood defender to whiff and then made several other cuts to go 39 yards for the TD.

This game was stopped late in the 3rd quarter due to the heat index.

6A playing 1A???? What's up with that?

I thought SK looked very good and has built a great system, but they did have a bunch of juniors, including QB Matt Shearer, who plays quite a bit of varsity. I thought SK should have subbed in the bench when BW had 5 freshman on the field in the 3rd qtr, but SK had a ton of kids that didnt see the field.

None of the small schools have a JV. Beechwood plays almost all their JV games against big schools and is glad these schools will schedule them. Beechwood also plays JV games against Scott, Covington Catholic, Ryle and Campbell County.

SK JV has not lost a game in 2 years.

You also gotta think they played bryan station last night so they weren't gonna drive to Lexington for a jv game. Probably only team they could find available to play.
