  1. 3A school based on what, your opinion, or facts? Here is a fact, Beechwood's enrollment for boys at the last realignment, put them as a 1A school. They are playing where the state says they should be playing. When the next realignment comes out, maybe Beechwood will be 2A, but they are nowhere close to being a 3A school.
  2. If this was for great conversation "between both the east and west side of the state to comment on" .. then you would have titled it with something other than "Should we just go ahead and mail Beechwood the 1A trophy?" I have not heard one person in the state ... from multiple media outlets, messageboards, etc that has stated anything similar to "go ahead and mail Beechwood the 1A Trophy". (Other than you). I know of at least 3 other transfers for Hazard (I have seen you comment on them on other message boards as well ... so lets not play dumb). Hazard has more starters returning ... at least 4 transfers ... and lost the state championship by 7 points (and had chances to win). At the very least ... that makes them equal or possibly ahead. Not to mention ... Paintsville, Kentucky Country Day (who is flying WAY TOO LOW under the radar) are all good enough to win. If you are looking for good conversation about Beechwood and Hazard ... maybe go about it in a way that doesn't paint Hazard as the victim. You are not going to get anyone from Beechwood (or anyone who follows football in this state) to disrespect Hazard. Not to mention .... Beechwood plays them one game at a time. If they are fortunate enough to get to Hazard ... it will be worried about then. On the other hand ... if Hazard is already stacking those chips on their shoulders about Beechwood ... then good for them. So ... good luck with your intended purpose for this thread .... I hope you find what you are looking for.
  3. No offense ... but I think everyone who has been around for a while knows what you are trying to do. There hasn't been one person on this board who has disrespected Hazard ... or made Beechwood an overwhelming favorite. From where I sit ... Hazard has more starters coming back than Beechwood (3 or 4 on each side of the ball if I remember correctly). Not to mention ... how many transfers has Hazard gotten this year? 3 ... 4 ... 5? Nice try ... but anyone who actually looks at the matchups knows that Hazard is equal ... and with the transfers should probably be ranked ahead. I find it hilarious that you always try to drum up this type of stuff. You lost by 7 points and you have more people coming back than Beechwood. You can bet your Daddy's coal mine that Beechwood isn't sitting back waiting for any trophy in the mail. They are doing the same things that they always do .... working hard ... trying to get better everyday. The Bac "chip on the shoulder" thing is getting old.
  4. Good work by Coach Rash and staff .... Big corrections ... career record = 123 - 33 (definitely not 88!)
  5. Yeah--how many tuition kids have been in the program over the past 15 years? I would be willing to bet that the number is so low that you would try to question the validity. The truth of the matter is that for a LONG time--football players have had to pass the same extremely difficult academic viability test that everyone else has (on average there has been less than 2 kids who have joined the football program as tuition students). There has been NO leeway at all. The old way has been over for years (since at least 2001 and more likely earlier). The truth of the matter is you better be one heck of a student if you are out of district (whether you play any sport or not). So you can have an average of 2 a year (and it is actually less than 2 but I did you a favor and rounded up). It certainly isn't an influential number that makes or breaks the program.
  6. Trust me, I know what you mean! But it makes sense to me and a "few" others. Too bad this forum doesn't have a "I like to sound confusing but a lot of people get it" forum. Sorry about that!
  7. I put some thought into the post before I made it. I understand your point and you are probably right. It is important to note that the first post of this thread points out some interesting "changes" that just seemed to disappear from conversation. I agree that that does not make my point any more valid. However, someone pointed something out that needs discussion and this was my way of letting that person know that others know what is up.
  8. As someone who sees it on a daily basis, my answer is no. One of the things people do not realize is that Beechwood is absolutely landlocked with no change in sight. There is a set pool of kids in the school, and a set number of kids who participate in sports. That isn't going to change. That pool will not get larger (or smaller). That thought added in with a track program that has been on its way up since 2010. Club Volleyball, Soccer additional in school commitments--there is just are not a ton of athletes left over. The girls involved work hard, and they do a good job, and they will achieve cyclical success as the program continues to evolve. There is another factor involved (with Beechwood- not necessarily regarding softball) that will play havoc on all sports if things continue in the current direction. Which I am not going to talk about with the thought that, hopefully, things change before it is at the point where it needs to be addressed out in the open).
  9. Stadium is great for the games. The problem is the facilities for teams. Beechwood had to use a baseball batting cage as their locker room. The cage took up about 90% of the room. The room also had no bathrooms and no showers, so the kids couldn't even shower after the game. The Batting Cage was about a 4 minute walk to the stadium. Also, at half time the team was in a hallway with no tables or boards to write on. Coaches were on their knees writing adjustments down on folding chairs. If they can't guarantee locker rooms, they shouldn't be hosting games. These kids work their butts off to be rewarded with an unbelievable experience. Getting dressed around Jugs machines and bat racks shouldn't be a problem that needs to be endured.
  10. Beechwood won that game against Cov Cath in 1994, 19-10 and actually had the ball inside the 10 and took a knee late in the game.
  11. Beechwood recovered the onside kick anyways, not sure what people were watching. A Beechwood player clearly had the ball.
  12. Well...it looks like those "Little Beechies" held up just fine against that vaunted Hazard running game. Smith had 120 yds on 29 carries. Where is Buebird_96?
  13. Hergott is not out ... new job so he stepped into a different role. Randy Tomlinson will be the OC. Coach Burnett is here and has the O-Line and will help with the offense.
  14. Serious? To some extent ... it is something that needed to be dealt with ... but he should be back shortly. As far as 2 sports in college go ... I would say the chances are high ... at the same time .. I doubt the 2nd sport will be what everyone expects.
  15. Actually ... just so everyone is on the same page ... the football field stays as the football field. The current baseball field and all grassy areas up top will be turfed ... so the soccer teams will have their own field during the fall (with bleachers, lights, etc) ... which then becomes the baseball field and softball field in the spring. The city and the school are also in the process of upgrading General Ormsbey to a multi-use facility that will feature an 8 lane track (along with additional ammenities that will be available to the the general public).
  16. Big shout out to Brett Slusher ... Class A 55 Meter Champ. Not a bad week for Brett!!
  17. Correct .. slow down ... (its a joke/expression ... laugh!) The lack of stats for the championship (on the KHSAA) does not mean that those stats did not exist ... and doesn't mean that they were not supplied at the appropriate time. So in a nutshell ... things were done according to deadline ...
  18. Slow down there ... *All of Slusher's stats were submitted on time and accurately. *Slusher's stats also included tackles ... which is something that we do not normally track. *Just because the KHSAA site didn't have the last game ... doesn't mean that the stats didn't get to the right people. (The KHSAA does not award Mr. Football ... it is done by a different group). *If you need verification of the above information ... feel free to send me a message.
  19. Middlesboro was my introduction into Class A Football ... I remember a nice evening at Pikeville in the 3rd round ... At halftime it was 28 to 28 (or 28 to 26) ... Pikeville worked their tails off to pull it close at the half. Next thing you know .. at the end of the 3rd quarter ... it was 78 to 28 (or something along those lines). I am 99.9999% sure they ran a quadruple reverse that night ... and it was a thing of beauty. To this day ... that was the fastest football team that I have seen in Kentucky. Dustin Wynn was one of the best kickers I have ever seen ...Floyd Branum ... wow. Was the QB's name Skidmore or something like that? Not to mention David Kelly. Great team ... I would love to see that Pikeville game again (at least ... the 3rd quarter).
  20. Quick thought ... not trying to stir anything up ... But ... why would you (or anyone else) share injury information on the internet for a high school player? I understand that it would probably get out anyway ... but I don't understand why this kind of thing happens ... so often. First .. opponents don't need to know anything about the other team's injuries Second .. not sure how good this young lady is .. injuries still freak prospective colleges out a little (not anywhere near as bad as it used to be). Last .. It this is a season ending injury ... athletes are already significantly upset about their injury .. and the last thing they want is to have to read about it on the internet. So I know that isn't what you were trying to accomplish .. but I am interested in why you would want to put this information out there.
  21. Actually ... the "Beechies" could care less ... and there is no fear of opening any can of worms. None are sniffing 19 ... Matter of fact ... many of the seniors are still 17. From there .... it had no impact on the game. Pikeville won ... fair and square.
  22. Great thought here! Things have been tough in the preseason for the Tigers .... a few players decided not to play ... which has made things tough ... but better days are ahead. I am a huge Ally Johnson fan ... fantastic young lady who works hard to ensure she does things the right way.
  23. For the above reasons (and that is a very small sampling) ... no one from Beechwood who actually knows .... is going to tell you when Stringer is coming back. It is certainly your right to ask questions ... but that doesn't mean anyone from Beechwood would/should share information regarding a player who left the game with any injury. No offense ... all business.
  24. There are plenty of ways to look at it ... everyone can be right or wrong. What I can say is that when you are playing 12 to 14 "meaningful" snaps--you take what you can get in regard to conditioning. Most humanoids are going to have an elevated heart rate in a game situation ... at that point--the jog back and forth does a have a benefit in regard to cardiovascular fitness. What that benefit is ... varies from person to person. Running in practice has different effects ... and it is something that we work on and approach from a different point of view than most. To be clear ... my main point in this conversation is that the dialogue between the OC and QB is the true benefit for both. Sometimes it is a few words ... sometimes it is more than that. From my point of view--it is a beneficial tactic. As far as conditioning goes ... our plan changes as the year goes on. From there ... I am not going to comment on when/what/how/why in regard to this topic. As far as a QB lifting weights? Ha, ha ... I am not sure I have ever seen such a thing!
