I’ve sat behind Fern Creek’s bench several times. “Go”, “you gotta want it”, and “you ain’t playin hard enough” aren’t plays or sets that I recall from my years of basketball. Schooler still struggles when it comes to adjustments. It’s ok. Every coach has faults. Schooler is a motivator. At some point, kids tune out the motivator and coaching takes over. Fern Creek may be at a crossroad now. It’s hard to get to the top. Harder to stay there.

Fern Creek got absolutely out coached. Which, if you’ve watched them, it’s not a shock. Schooler is a great man. Great motivator. But he still can’t do the X and O thing.

They won at Bullitt East last night. East is down this year, but still solid. Good win for Desales.

I’m surprised by the margin. But not the loss. ETown has a group that’s played together for awhile. John Hardin has a couple of nice players. But as a team, they’ve been pretenders all season. Looking at their schedule, who have they played? Oldham County beat the snot out of them. And they’re down by Oldham standards.

I don’t like this at all.

Now everyone can get back to their regularly scheduled program of complaining about conspiracy theories and officiating. . Sincerely glad they figured out a way to complete it.

But everyone complains about semifinal games in the morning and finals at night...

Scroll through this thread and you’ll see plenty of it. Would I like a championship game? Absolutely. Would I risk my child for it? Absolutely not.

Saw a van underneath a salt truck on Bardstown Road earlier. Maybe everyone should calm down with the “it’s fine in my neighborhood” stuff.

I was out for awhile earlier. Main roads are fine. But most secondary roads have some bad spots. Let’s not forget, these kids would also have to get home tonight. The sun will melt a lot of spots, but as it gets dark they’ll freeze back over. If I had a 16 or 17 year old son, I wouldn’t want him out driving tonight.

Desales is a really well coached team. They came into this game prepared. Keeping it close is still a confidence builder for them. Tough matchup in the 6th region tourney.

Trinity and Creek are the obvious favorites. But I’d take Ballard over Fern Creek at this point. Fern Creek seems to either be tired, or lacking focus lately. PRP and Waggener are a couple of teams that could make a run at it. PRP is dealing with injuries, but if they’re at full strength after resting kids against Ballard, don’t be surprised if they’re in the final.

LOL. You know what I mean. Kids tend to lose focus when their schedules get whacked out. No school. Traveling with their buddies. Basketball isn’t the priority. Until it’s gametime and they realize they didn’t prepare.

Funny things always happen at tournaments between Christmas and New Years. If a good team is going to drop a head scratcher, this would be the time. They’re all still kids. Schedules get out of whack. Eating fast food for every meal, and running around hotel hallways all night.

I’m not surprised that Oldham beat John hardin. If you look at John Hardin’s schedule, this is really the first time they’ve been tested. The fact that OC is such a difficult place to play, and Jackson Gibson may be the most underrated PG in the state, contributes to the margin.

St X lost in their final pool game at Owensboro Invitational. Owensboro beat Bullitt East in the championship game.

I was really impressed with Schooler having faith in playing some young guys in critical moments. Fern Creek loses a lot this year, but they’ll have more talent coming back than people think.

Waggener by double digits. Depth and pressure will be too much.

Sullivan is an offensive monster. Scores at all 3 levels, makes free throws, really quick release.

Taylor County got drilled by a not so good Bullitt East team tonight. One missing player isn’t going to solve their problems. They can score. They’re horrible defensively. And when you’re horrible defensively, you aren’t well coached. They’ll be good to finish.500 this year. Quite a slide.

I agree that John Hardin is the class of the 5th. But at what point did beating Manual become a measure of team success? They haven’t been close to .500 in awhile.

I’ve watched Jackson Gibson play since middle school. I really like the way he plays. Solid fundamentals mixed with a lot of flair and a high IQ. In Kentucky, guard play wins you a lot of games.
