GRC will travel to Rowan Co Friday night totake on#18 and undefeated Louisville Waggner. Your thoughts and predictions.

Waggener by double digits. Depth and pressure will be too much.

I wish I could make it to this game. I have not seen GRC this season, so I don't how to predict the outcome. Waggener will definitely rely on its depth and apply a lot of pressure. It lacks much significant size, which is going to hurt it in some games. This may be one of them.

An additional potential factor will be how closely the game is called. Waggener's constant pressure may lead to a number of fouls being called. Waggener has the depth to deal with that, but it may be that GRC will be shooting a lot of free throws. As a team, GRC is shooting 70.7% on free throws, which is pretty good.

Pressure may hurt ,but we play 10 players every game. We have depth too.

I would say we will have 16th region refs, which seem to call it closer. We usually are good at shooting Free Throws. How are they at shooting FT?

Can you tell us what players to look for and the type of ball they play? I know very little about them. Thanks

I can see this as a grind it out game and who has it last will shoot the winning shot...:sssh:

I hate to be opposite you, but I think I will have to go Waggener in this game. They can't shoot as well as Madison Central, but the pressure and the speed will be more then we brought against GRC, and I think that really affected GRC offensive sets and guys getting clean looks. I would expect Waggener to contest a lot of shots and disrupt the offense for GRC.

I agree if they call it close, GRC has a chance to shoot a lot of FT's which could keep it close.

I'll have to go with the speed and pressure in this game. Waggener by 10+

You have seen us play and I respect your opinion.

Run, run, run. Waggener does not slow down. They will play at least a dozen players in the first half, which allows everyone to stay fresh. On defense, it will be baseline-to-baseline pressure throughout the game.

J.J. Kalakon, a junior, is athletic and holds some Division 1 offers. But Waggener does not run any plays for him. He is simply one of the many players constantly going in and out for Waggener.

I think Scott County will get the better of them tonight. As for GRC, I have not seen GRC this season and so I don't know what will happen. But it sounds like it will be fun.

JJ is a great kid, he is one of those kids who's motor never stops, and his work ethic has made his game what it is.

I agree, I think Scott Co. gets them tonight as well, but teams like Waggener and Bryan Station just play choppy and disruptive basketball. Sometimes that can wear on a team.

The other night we played 10 players in the 1st Q. I can see this as being a very foul prone called game, which sometimes will not let a team get in the flow of the game.

To win we will have to clean the glass, cut down of Turnovers, protect the ball and hit our FT. Will help a lot too if we can hit some 3's. If we do this I think we can win.

Anyone else going? Always look forward to meeting BGP members.

GRC by 3, looking forward to watching this game tomorrow night.

While I have not seen GRC play, I am going to predict a Waggener victory, 80-72.

Gotta pull for my 10th region brethren on this one. Go Cards!

Thanks appreciate it. I also always pull for any other 10th region teams.

Waggener does indeed have solid defense through the press. They forced scott county into 29 turnovers, but SC still managed to score 97 points and win by 15. Waggener didnt handle SC pressure very well either committing 32 turnovers. If GRC can frustrate Waggener on D then they can win.

Wow that is a lot of turnovers. Hope we can frustrate them too. We have to handle thier press better. Could make the difference in the game. With christmas break this week I am sure Coach has had the team work on this a lot.
