Oldham County 88 John Hardin 60

Featured Replies

I'll post stats later tonight Gibson led Oldham with 35

OC was not the best team in this tourney on paper, but they were between the lines. JH and WC both looked like train wrecks at times during the tournament.

Just asking...no motives, but why would they not be favored on paper....the margin of victory is shocking but they are undefeated playing in their home gym

I think they weren't favored simply because they were only the third-highest ranked team in the tourney.

Bluegrasspreps.com had John Hardin #10 and Warren Central #16 and both were ranked #1 in their respective regions and both undefeated.

Oldham County was ranked #20 by bluegrasspreps.com and not even ranked at all in some other polls.

How the above three teams end the season is yet to be seen, but Oldham was certainly the best team on this weekend in December. None of their three games was close, and Oldham had a double digit lead over WC (+20) and JH (+12) after one quarter.

BTW, the correct final score of this game - from the "this and 75 cents will get you a cup of coffee" category - was 89-60. The scoreboard was incorrect at the end of the game. John Hardin's statistician had it 88-60, but he incorrectly had Travis Henderson of Oldham County with 24 points. The official scorebook (my stats mirrored the official book) had Henderson with 25 points, making the final score, 89-60. (interestingly enough, the khsaa.org site shows 88-60, but the players scores - which are all correct - add up to 89)

I’m not surprised that Oldham beat John hardin. If you look at John Hardin’s schedule, this is really the first time they’ve been tested. The fact that OC is such a difficult place to play, and Jackson Gibson may be the most underrated PG in the state, contributes to the margin.

OC starts 5 seniors that have played alot of bball. Not to mention playing the game at OC. The score is a bit surprising but OC should have been favored playing 3 games in 3 days in their home building with a fairly veteran group.

OC played their butts off and I think their a good team....I don't mean to take anything away from them.

I mis-spoke earlier.

John Hardin came into the tourney ranked #9. Not many times the #20 team is going to be favored over the #9 team going in, regardless of the gym.

Very impressed with JH; they have an awful lot of weapons. When they are playing their game, not sure who in the Fifth will be able to knock them off.

The two best teams in the tourney clearly were in the finals. Warren Central oozes potential and talent, but I don't think they are as far along in their development as OC and JH.

The comment regarding Oldham's seniors is spot-on. These five seniors have been playing together for a long, long time.
