  1. What year? Does he have much experience?
  2. I thought the same thing about Greenup's press. Ashland probably had 12 points off breaking their press. Wireman is a tremendous shooter. He would just pull up in Villers' face and knock down shots. I remember him doing that on the freshman team when he was an 8th grader... Good kid. They did miss a lot of free throws. I know they needed to pressure the ball late in the game, but they did give up too many layups. Greenup will be fine. They have a very good team, Ashland just played a better game last night.
  3. Who's being looked at for the qb position now that Kash is gone?
  4. I am as well. They are playing well. Their defense is really strong. They do need to quit making unforced turnovers. Christian can really get to the rim any time he wants. Impressive.
  5. Good, good win for the Cats. Really, some of the best defense I've seen in a while. They play with a lot of heart.
  6. Ashland is looking to get the spark back tonight at the Green House. Like RaiderPride5 said, it will be a good measuring stick for both teams. Stopping Hughes is going to be a priority. Ironton is down this year, 3 freshman on the floor multiple times, however, coming away with the win. Ripley (WVa) was a very talented team. 6'8 and 6'9 are tough to guard at any time. Those two boys played well above the rim. Lets get it done tonight on the Musketeer's home court.
  7. 16th OJ Mayo (NBA Milwaukee Bucks - current), Bill Walker (NBA Boston Celtics, New York Knicks)
  8. Sweet. Reminds me of Bruce Morris' shot at Marshall in the late 80's. Bruce's shot was a little further away... His footprints are still on the court.
  9. When I say "once was", that references back to the early - mid 90's...
  10. Will this ever be the rivalry it once was? Thoughts/Predictions…
  11. Contras to Coach Howell on the first of many wins. I'm a big proponent of playing with what you have. If you don't have the horses to run, don't. I think that is where Biggs failed some times. I'm all about playing in the 40's if need by. No need to try to score 80 if it's not there. They were down quite a bit in the 2nd half, good job of controlling the boards and taking care of the basketball.
  12. Saw on social media that Coach Cal showed up at the zip zone classic in Lawrence co.
  13. Saw on Facebook that coach Cal showed up about 20 min ago.
  14. At the Youngblood household watching high school football on ESPN.
  15. Lawrence needs to keep Belfry's offense off the field. Belfry needs to limit the completions to the Dalton boys. I expect a good game, mom's alma mater stays on the field offensively, but Cecil makes the necessary changes to pull this one out. Kiser airs it out for over 300 yards and Lawrence wins. Lawrence 21 Belfry 20
  16. Good read. Looks like there could be some really good match-ups this year. My Cats need to turn it around this year. Hopefully, Howell can get them on the right track. Robinson looks to possibly start on varsity this year. He's a real player...
  17. I thought Scott passed very well against Ashland. It seemed like they pick good times to pass too. There were a couple of dropped passes that could have hurt us ever worse. If JC plays like they did against us (9 in the box with no safety), Scott's passing game could play a big factor.
  18. Congrats to Paintsville. Great effort by Raceland. After reading all the post, did Paintsville win it or did Raceland lose it? Either way, it must have been a great football game to watch, maybe I should have taken a ride down 23 rather than up the AA...
  19. Good, hard fought game tonight by two worthy opponents. Ashland couldn't recover from their many turnovers. Scott did what good teams do in that situation and turned them in to points. Congrats to scott, but that was a tough loss for a great group of seniors. Good luck to Scott the rest of the way, you will have your hands full next Friday.
  20. My heart says Russell, but my mind says Belfry.
  21. Game day. The Independent has us winning by 19. Lets see if we can match it. Is it going to be cold up north tonight? Duh... I shouldn't have even ask.
  22. My football coach always told us, "If you are man enough, to come to us (coaches) asking questions about playing time or evaluations, be man enough to take the answer(s)". I always liked that philosophy, however, it was never an in-depth conversation.
