Triple header. I'm taking in all 3. What up with the JV game?

I'm hoping the young Colonels take to the bigger NKU floor as well as the past couple year's teams have (sans Dixie last year). Colonels in a tight one. My prediction . . . Weyer and CVH have similar stats, but Ruthsatz makes the difference.

I'm headed to Lexington to watch Lafayette v. Lex.Christian. Looking forward to seeing LCA's star freshman, Kyle Rode. I am not very familiar with the Lafayette squad. Who are their stand out players?

Michael has heard a lot of stuff over these past 3 years in NKMSL; he probably smirked at that one. Classic grade school behaviors, the big kid always a focus. I look forward to him moving on to HS ball & playing at a more challenging level & not always the focus of the other team.

In my opinion, while Pius has good skilled kids 1 through 8, they lack team size in comparison to some schools. Beyond Mayer & Powers, the other boys are relatively lesser in stature. Some have not yet hit growth spurt, while others may have been early growers. They won region in 6th, lost a tight one in the finals in 7th . . . I'm betting they will return for a 3rd time.

Johnny one of the best/aggressive defenders that played for St.Pius in past 10 years. Right up there with Andrew Schult. Probably leads school history for "fouls per minute" though. Good kid! Uncle Mike (Bo's dad) had some major hops in his day.

Not sure if its official, but I believe this has been banned by CCH this year.

There are (6) reining football state champions that probably disagree with Lyon, Crittenden, Livingston's stance.

I would imagine a victory over UHA by any of those three teams would be very sweet. Their kids will not taste such though, as someone has taken their ball and gone home.

Reece Murphy (#0), point guard for St.Pius is very good; will be playing HS ball somewhere.

In my opinion, too much going on with his free throw stroke. Too much wind up, ball goes back too far, & ball too deep in palm of his hand. Needs to simplify. Keep ball more out front & on the fingertips. What do I know though, I could never shoot em well either.

Frederick is definitely improving, but would not call him best offensive player. He doesn't yet create his own as well as CVH. I don't know their grade levels, but Moeller was obviously the more mature team physically. The point guard (#5) was most impressive to me. The way they ran their sets and the offensive discipline they showed was impressive. I however would not necessarily want to follow that team on a game-to-game basis. C'mon coach, let them play! McBride came off high ball screens at least 5 times when he could have slashed to the basket, instead kicked it out to the corner or wing. I commend the kid, but selfishly, I would have liked to seen him go to the rim. Colonels are young & it showed. Fortunately, 9th region is wide open lacking a highly experienced front runner, so CCH is in the mix. Seeing Bo Schuh at the game on crutches, was disheartening in a couple ways. First, the Colonels really could use his skill set, but more importantly, his good start to a college career has been put on hold.

Some may recall, but this theme took place with a group of Gray middle school followers just a few years back. Those boys would be juniors in High School now. I find this situation very similar. As witness to both, I quite simply believe a few bad applies disparage the persona of the group as a whole. The sad part is both teams were/are very good and the focus often has been taken away from the players/teams and their accomplishments. As someone who has been through it, my input is people need to step back & realize this is Grade School basketball, and does not mean a whole lot in the grand scheme of life. Here's hoping this thread gets back to game scores, player recognitions & anticipation of the year end tourney.

Colonels in 2013 got some good photos with Dickie V. Hopefully, the boys did this time as well. Not a big fan of his calling games these days, but obviously has been important to the college game over past decades.

The Florida teams were not use to the level of defense Colonels played back in 2013, hopefully the same can be said for this trip.

Cumberland - Wilmington High School !!!

Colonel Crazies has been a cyclical thing for years. Some classes excel & are more creative than others. I haven't seen anything new the past two years. They definitely peaked in 2014. Sure, that class had a state title run to follow, but some might add, they were a large contributor to a perfect storm season. If they are under more constraints these days, that's a shame. Their performance last night was good, but felt like not quite up to top level. BTW, kudos to Wilmington & the numbers that traveled the 1 hour commute.

Well worth the $6. What a great game, even though the Colonels lost in the end. I hope CCH fans truly appreciate what Coach Ruthsatz has brought to this program. Awesome atmosphere. Spoke with Wilmington head football coach & wife throughout game (good people). They were complimentary of the CCH program/kids & appreciated that their team had a battle on their hands; hadn't been challenged much in their 7-0 start. CCH JV team is worth going to see just themselves. Luke Lenihan's game is special. I would hate to be an opposing point guard in next couple years having to contend with the defensive pressure that Aiden, and soon, Lenihan can apply.

Lets see, I went to both schools, and coached both Thelens in the past, Who do I go with? A Colonel victory with a throw down dunk by Nick would be sweet. I'll root for Jake & the Tigers to take down anybody else though.

Most know I'm a CCH guy, but why the "ifs" & "buts", fact is the Camels on the floor beat the Colonels on the floor. Good for them! On a side note, I have noticed Jack Coldiron has yet to play this season for Colonels . . injured?

I believe HC gets CCH at home this year as well. Been a couple years, but always fun when those two are competitive.

Sad to see, but true post play is dying out at all levels. Defensive double downs, denials and tie ups are easier to learn/teach, than the needed post man foot work, ball position, entry & re-entry passing, etc.

I'm not as familiar with CE lineup. . . I figured those were some of the key players he was getting on (while benched). Somewhat humorous when his voice shrilled. They are a nice team & sounds like they were going through tough schedule stretch. I'm sure they'll be right there in the end.
