Moeller (OH) 64 Covington Catholic 51

Final from Park Hills.

Difference in the game was the 2nd qtr. Moeller outscored CCH by 11 and CCH never recovered.

Moeller is a very good team! This game was never in doubt, with Moe leading by 17 at half. Colonels struggled in many aspects, but they will most likely not face a team as good as Moe the rest of the way out. #5 for Moe (PG) was very smooth!

Agreed, #5, #2, and McBride all were very impressive tonight.

Typical Carl Kremer team, fundamentally sound, great ball movement, defend like crazy, and they made a VERY high percentage from the arc. Felt like they made 4 or 5 threes alone in the 2nd Qtr, including banking in one at the horn of the end of the quarter leading into halftime.

Rebounding margin was very close, I know Moeller had 3 more boards heading to the 4th Qtr. Moeller also made a much higher percentage from the line, or at least it felt that way.

I believe CJ Fredrick was 4 for 4 from the arc tonight, on the heels of going 5 for 5 against Taylor Co. He needs to be a bigger part of the offense. Has a really good stroke. AJ Maher worked hard tonight and played solidly.

Pretty good crowd in Park Hills, but the trend of an unimpressive student section continues.

Congrats to Moe, as @Cincy accurately pointed out in the pregame thread, this may well be the best team CovCath faces this year.

Moe was in a stall for most of the second half after they got up by 20, they only took 11 shots total in the 2nd. Moe made it look a lot closer than it was by shooting horrible from the line when CCH started intentionally fouling early in the fourth. Really never much of a game, Moeller too big, too athletic for CCH.

How big are they? What kind of size do they have?

Do any of the Moeller guys have any scholarship offers? I didn't have a roster, so wasn't sure what grade any of them were in. I saw Brannen from NKU there to watch the game.

6-7/6-5/6-5 front court, Mcbride is crazy athletic 6-4 SF/SG he had a couple dunks tonight.

I am not sure of exact size, but they were taller than CCH at all positions. However, there was no real tall individuals for them. In fact, when Walter entered the game, he had five or six inches on their tallest player. All were very skilled, especially their men.

Their front court is about the same as what Elder started tonight... with a 7 footer on the bench.

So, who is ranked higher - Moeller or Elder? I haven't a clue.

It was Elder 1, Moe 2, LaSalle 3. in Cincy. Moe and LaSalle each lost a game in nationally competitive Christmas tournaments down south. Elder played in a non-competitive tournament and stayed undefeated.

I have seen them both play this year and Moeller is bigger overall and a lot more athletic than Elder. Elder is a more hard nosed team, no doubt about that. Great win for Cooper tonight not trying to take anything away from those kids!

I don't think Moe has any D1 offers right right now. McBride signed with Mount Vernon which is NAIA. I think a couple others Voss and Georgetown have div II type offers.

Vonhandorf must have gotten most of his in the 4th Quarter, because for the first three quarters I was there, he was pretty non-existent (or so it seemed).
