I'll be there tonight who do you got winning?

Two very good teams will battle tonight. CovCath always plays with a up in your face mentality and are very disciplined on both sides of the ball. NewCath is shooting light's out and their defense has been stellar the past few weeks and this group is really starting to gel. I think NewCath wins in a close one 59-54.

Man, how can you predict this one? I think NewCath is playing better right now, and Ben Weyer is clearly playing at the highest level of any player in the 9th. However, CovCath has still shown they have a VERY HIGH ceiling, but are also capable of not playing up to their maximum capability.

 

I think Cole would be well served to try and get his running mates going early in the game. CJ Fredrick will be playing his 1st game at NKU, but I expect him to bounce back from a tough shooting night at the Finn and play well. Can Floody regain some of his confidence and become that dependable 2nd / 3rd scoring option? How will AJ Mayer do in trying to somewhat slow down a red-hot Ben Weyer? How will NewCath's young players handle this match-up? Can Coach Dawn get his young and talented sharp-shooter loose?

 

Should be an awesome nightcap tonight at the Vault.

Unfortunately had a prior commitment but I am waiting for updates this sets up to be a dandy!!

Not sure who I take in this if you look at the history of this game at NKU it doesn't fair well for NewCath they do not play well there for some reason. NewCath has the best player in the region so he is going to get his I think CovCath focus should be stopping the other 4 who are in the game at the time. As for NewCath if they continue to play the way they have been and not get to tight about playing CovCath at NKU I think they come away with the win in a close one.

Bummed I'll miss this one. But since I'm seeing the Boss tomorrow night I have to take care of the real Boss tonight.

I have not watched NC this year so I'm going off of last year and what I've read.

 

Does NC post Weyer down low or does he play outside where he seems to prefer to play?

 

CCH has a small starting lineup so AJ (who has fared well overall defensively this year) will be outsized by about 3 or 4 inches. Can Weyer score effectively down low? If so then CCH may have to go bigger which means Weyer steps out and takes advantage. If he stays outside I like CCH's chances much better. If he scores inside then NC has a key advantage.

 

CCH will need to get some help for CVH. As well as he played against Holy Cross (and he was really good) CCH is better when he doesn't have to carry the load.

 

I can't make it. I bet I miss a really tight game that will be a great POTENTIAL 9th region preview. (Holmes says don't count CCH in the 9th just yet)

Will Nkysports.com or somebody be streaming the game? If not I'll be sure to listen online but I'd love to see how this plays out.

I say NCC takes this one but it will be close. I just think that NCC is clicking on all cylinders and I don't think CCH has anything for Weyer. He is playing like a beast.

I'm hoping the young Colonels take to the bigger NKU floor as well as the past couple year's teams have (sans Dixie last year).

 

Colonels in a tight one. My prediction . . . Weyer and CVH have similar stats, but Ruthsatz makes the difference.

I saw NCC at the Finn . They shoot the ball well. CCH will have to box out well because Weyer is a monster on the boards. The area I think you can take advantage of NCC is penetration I don't think they are as good defending the dribble as years past.

Fredrick v Moeves

 

I think Weyer gets his regardless. Too much size and athleticism for any team to match up with him one on one in this region and if they try to double him, Newcath obviously has the shooters to make them pay.

That's not a knock on either team as each have a significant player. It will come down to the supporting cast. It is going to be a good one!!

Curious to see if NCC will play the Colonels better now that the huge expectations are in the past. Even though CovCath has won the last two regional championships, I considered NewCath the favorite each time they played.

NewCath wins only if they don't shake hands with CCH prior to the tip.
