The "surface" of the Mayfield/Corbin game was soaking wet and Mayfield out their freak running back and still come out with a two touchdown victory? Not sure how that's a questionable win. I'm guessing the Mayfield dominance over many larger sized schools (many of them ranked) over the years has reset the standard for how many TD's they are supposed to win every game by every year?.:ohbrother:

I was there and Corbin was really good. 28-14 is 28-14 regardless of when the TDs were scored that opened it up. Last I checked you did have all 4 quarters to play and score. Anyway. Bright out and we win by 2 TDs against the best team we've played outside of MC tells me were fine. And what I was holding out to see, I saw. We DO have a serious dual threat now at RB with Bright and K Caldwell....try that wrinkle on for size. Word is the Lindsey Wilson coaches wanted Caldwells contact info after the game.

I like the fact that we had a huge game with two backs that had little carries before Bright went out for a bit. This could prove itself to be a factor that nobody was counting on..that we actually have THREE backs that can hurt folks. Remember what happened when Boobie Miles went out in Friday Night Lights...a sleeper emerged. We could very well be in that situation here...Ill know more Friday.

Mayfield is # 1. Just pummeled the 2014 5A state champ runner up this weekend (granted a different team that 2014 but..........) Desales puts up no points and keeps #1 ? making the comparison on losses now...Last weekend.......Mayfield takes 6A to OT on a ranked team..DeSales scores no points on a ranked 5A team....its not rocket science.

I guess I cant get pulled into the Mayfield got whipped in the trenches conversation. MC being a 6A school can rotate linemen out with fresh legs about 3rd quarter..not many 2A schools can so I say its more of a matter of Mayfield got beat by shear numbers of people. A luxury no 2A school has. Take nothing from the "got whipped in the trenches" stuff. Mayfield got beat in OT by a very good, very DEEP MC team...we got what we needed to from this game...we roll on. I hope DS staff reads into this what it seems Colt is...that's good.

Bottom line for me. Hughes is not an SEC football talent. Fast, sure. He wont play much if any at KY, if that offer even holds up for him. Cant be in a position that he has to catch or hold on to a ball. Special Team or D perhaps. Cards got what we needed out of this game, match up with a team much better than they will see in 2A likely and had several chances to win. We will be fine. Cards roll on.

If you mean better than the team that WON the state championship. Not sure how you can be better than a state championship team? Snake gives you "as good" you have to up that to "better"....:ohbrother:

McCracken cant keep Mayfield from the endzone. They give Mayfield a good game but when the dust settles............35-20 Mayfield.

I think the #1 Mayfield 2A ranking is reflective of those that have the power to make the vote understanding that Mayfield would dominate most classes (1-4 at least) in KY in recent years and would have won the 5A state championship last year against either team that was playing. That said, Williamsburg would have won the 5A as well against either of those teams. That said, I would always have given Mike Tyson the nod over whoever he was fighting based on his history, its just a safe bet.
