Last years beat-down is hard to get out of your head, especially when this Cardinal team is as good as last years team...defense is much better if you can fathom that. How much impact can a player have that returns after being hurt too bad to play last week?

This Mayfield team is in more ways than not, as lethal as last years team. If I can remember from last night at Beechwood it was 14-0 Mayfield within the first 3 minutes. That is a huge punch in the mouth. A lesser foe than Beechwood withers with that onslaught. If I also remember correctly, Trajon Bright broke a 90 yard run on WB Last year in the final game and Bacon caught a TD in triple coverage to start the running clock. I guarantee you there wont be anyone faster that Bright or Tyler on that field come Saturday. Bacon and Kennemore lethal anywhere the ball is thrown in close proximity. Cardinal defense even better than last year. I'm sure WB much improved in many ways over last year but with this Cardinal unit this one could get out of hand quick. M

Oh well, Things worked out pretty well for Mayfield.

No. not the best D Mayfield played this year. Mayfield shut them out 21-0. Mayfield was the best D that Graves faced all year clearly. Russelville at Russelville was the best D Mayfield faced all year. Then Murray at Murray IMO.

Guys this "better team" bit is quite funny. The better team is 7-0 against Beechwood. I heard a Beechwood player tell a Mayfield player last night on the field after the game that Mayfield was the best they had played all year. Guys..those are the only opinions that matter in this and the player spoke it. Heck of a nice kid too...wont call his name cause don't want to call him out for being honest because clearly some BW fans on here don't want to hear that. The best team won the game. Save that other horse dung for when you are drinking, talking about the glory days and need to make yourself feel better about all of this. It demeans anyone to fall back on this ridiculous argument when discussing this in a lucid well thought out and honest way.

Had to go back and paste my predictIon from a few days back from the other thread that is now closed. Beechwood was good...the fans posting the hype on Beechwood didn't know what I know which was the heart of this Mayfield team and the refuse to lose mentality. This senior class has gone now to 4 straight State Championships. That is swagger that you can only get from being there. This team doesn't know lose. QB Arnett was excellent. Lane Kennemore....tough as nails and Marshall "pick six" Bacon ....big first downs ....this team doesn't quit. Our D stayed with a huge BW O line....Mayfield receivers got it done tonight. One more....

Mayfield is one point away from a perfect season this year so far and beat a 5A and 2A team representing in the playoffs still. (Graves and Murray)...been a great year again.

Team is in Louisville. Arrived a few hours ago...ate....chilling in the ville.....Ready to get this done.

This has become as traditional as pumpking pie and turkey on Thanksgiving for Mayfield. Had a good long practice today and they are ready. Lets do this.

If you have to appropriate permissions in HUDL its all there. This senior class at Mayfield has a ring on both hands so were fine either way. But I like our chances Friday night. Beechwood is no way is quicker than Russleville or more loaded than Caldwell and Mayfield took each down with authority.

I have access to HUDL and have watched Beechwood. The Defense is good not great. They Must pass and pass alot to win. The difference in this game will be the adjustments Mayfields superior coaching staff will make to counter Beechwood. Like I said I take Mayfield in this one. I think the Beechwood hype is mostly folks willing it to happen through hopeful posts. Hoping the positive posts will make it so. Difference is Mayfield will come to Beechwood knowing they can win... Beechwood will be wondering IF they can win given all the history. That combined with coaching superiority will be enough for the Mayfield edge.

Kennemore for Mayfield is getting some baseball buzz and has decided to get stronger for baseball I'm told. Bacon checks in at 6' 3" as opposed to 6' 2".

Comparisons of baseball and lacrosse to football are a stretch. At any rate yes, you missed some. * Tim McCampbell- Senior DE, 6'2" 225...easy college talent. has had college contact ( I'm sure the Beechwood QB will meet him Friday night) * Marshall Bacon- Senior, 6' 3 1/2" 190 WR/Safety...easy college talent- has had college contact (also Cats Pause top 10 basketball player in region 1) * Jordan Tyler- 6' 0" Senior RB/CB....runs about a 4.4/4.5 ...easy college talent- not sure of any college contact trouble is...WKY is pretty far to drive to look for talent BUT the fact that Mayfield/Graves and Murray are 15 miles apart and are all representing in sub-state games...maybe that will change.

Interesting sidenote: 1A Mayfield beat both the 2A semi finalist (Murray) and the 5A Semifinalist (Graves) during the regular season this year. I agree that 5A is the weakest by far.

That plays to Mayfield then for sure because running on this D is real tough and we have chased QBs all year trying to throw...

Not being a player myself, I think that's the case. I'm sure the team will not approach this that way.

These ARE the two best in 1A. This is the state championship game.
