I absolutely don't buy this either. Not even sure rookie57 is a Mayfield fan at this point.

I agree that Mayfield takes it...I just cant understand comments about weakest team yet and we are 1 point from being undefeated with an extremely tough schedule...where does that come from?

This is all rather quite insane. Until someone beats Mayfield in 1A..then Mayfield is #1. Going to 3 straight championships (for the current group of seniors) and winning 2 by HUGE margins makes them #1...nobody, by virtue of their recent wins over other teams this year that aren't Mayfield vaults over Mayfield until you BEAT Mayfield.:no: With that logic then, a Pikeville win over Belfry this year cant be classified as them "beating the 3A State champ last year" because Belfry isnt last years team...they are just just Belfry this year and thus meaningless....but we know its not meaningless because they are the reigning state champs..just like Mayfield..so until you beat them...make all the arguments for the #2 spot on down.:isurrender:

I get your point that it will be a blowout but doubt the Mayfield game will be competitive...if the starters were to stay in the whole game it would be ugly down in Fulton City

Considering Mayfield did that already (26 carries/93 yards)...the Mustangs should be able to put together some stops. I see this one getting out of hand. Ill go 49-14..Stangs

It looks as though Graves finally found someone who could play QB. Being a Mayfield transfer, I'm surprised though that the coaches upset the apple cart out there and did that. Looks like it should have been done 4 games ago.

This is true. This team is fine...not sure why folks think this is just such an atypical team other than being spoiled about not being up by 30 at halftime every game.

Gotta disagree somewhat. This is a different team...yes. Not typical? No. We are winning which is typical...winning differently but winning. I think this team is coming along nice. True that we don't have a receiver running a 4.4 BUT we have very above average slot receivers (outside aren't getting much action) who will get the first down and move the chains. very balanced attack which is all you can ask from any team.

this would be a good stretch for Mayfield to try some things they normally wouldn't have done with this brutal schedule they have played in the last 5 games. Throw a little more etc.

As a matter of fact, lets call Pikeville #1...that's usually the kiss of death for everyone but Mayfield.

Haven't seen DeSales play and I won't. Just saying I can't imagine a more potent offense than Caldwell. They are giving up some points but it hasn't been a problem because they literally score on almost every possession. Having said that. They will have their first loss on Halloween night at Mayfield.:Blackalien:

Caldwells test will be at Murray and at Mayfield. They wont score like they are used to on either of these teams.

Mayfield has had a tough two weeks. Murder of a classmate...uncertainty of a top defensive player playing the rest of the year. A trap game with Murray and then the crosstown game with Graves. Cut these guys some slack. They are 4-1...one loss by 1 point to a 6A team in OT. We would beat Pikeville today.

Not to raise a dead issue but, I just got around to reading the Paducah Sun article on this game. I thought the quote was interesting from the Graves Coach that "we just made a few more mistakes than Mayfield did and that was the difference". Mistakes had nothing to do with Crider gaining 93 yards on 25 carries and not scoring. Mayfield's defense did that. Mistakes had nothing to do with Mayfield scoring 3 touchdowns...Mayfield's offense did that. The penalty's were almost even for both teams (10 M-12 G by my count) ..it was the TYPE of penalty that had the highest cost for Graves Just wanted to set the record straight IMO.

You mean so far for this year, lots of football to go...plus, with that logic then Mayfield is easy #1 for taking the #5 team in 6A to OT in the first game of the year. This could keep going and going and going.
