A close friend of mine went through last night with all of the other coaches and sent me some pictures and details; 16 power racks, cable weights, sleds, kettle bells, 3 dumbbell racks, and a turf field! Not to mention a WATER FOUNTAIN (finally). I would have loved to have had the indoor field the day before state my senior year when the field froze over and Coach Mueller made us play ice skating football. So much room for activities!!

You're correct. I was looking at a different date. As of right now Grant Co. is a Home game on Oct. 23rd which is senior night.

I'm not 100% positive, but I don't think that Grant Co. was on the schedule to begin with.

Agreed. He is very close with Specht at Cincy St. I look for Dave to be on their staff in the near future...possibly OC.

I just hope there is a field to have spring practice on!!!

I would love to see HHS continue to use 2 back sets like they did this past year; there are just so many creative things you can do out of 2 back sets. Hopefully, Murray can stay healthy. I love the way he plays...very, very aggressive and tough. I know he is working very hard to put the weight/muscle he lost when he broke his collarbone this past season back on.

That's a good question. I could possibly picture him playing a strong safety type of position. However, I think again coaches would be faced with the issue of speed. I don't want to make it sound like I'm bashing the young man, I just don't believe he has D1 speed. Do you think he would have received offers had he played DB?

I wish JF the best and hope he gets an offer; as I know he wants to play at the next level. However, IMO he is not a D-1 caliber WR. A 6'-6'1 WR with average at best speed is a dime a dozen in this country... Aka not worth a college coach's time. Also, I know for a fact that JF met with multiple college coaches while he was at HHS when coaches were there meeting with Hodge; none ever came close to offering. Whether JF played at HHS, WC, or on the moon it wouldn't have mattered.

Couldn't agree more. Schoellman's football IQ could legitimately give him a shot at the job as a sophomore IMO and I know I'm not the only one who believes that. Kid gets it. I've asid before that he will probably be the first multi year starter since Towels.

It would not surprise me if Brad Greene moved back to the offensive side of the ball next year. He never played defense all year until major injuries in the secondary occurred. A lot of people probably do not realize that he only practiced defense for about 6-7 weeks all year and the majority of that was during the playoffs; pretty impressive for a sophomore.

Coach Hauck eats at a local deli everyday in Ft. Thomas that I frequent and it is always a privilege to talk to him. I love how he finds the positive in everything in life. If you ever visit Cobblestone Cafe and see him, take the opportunity to introduce yourself, he loves company and good conversation.

I am not sure if he is interested in being a head coach anymore since he has a young daughter and a newborn boy, but Jason Lynch (RB coach and teacher at HHS) has been a successful head coach in Ohio in the past. I've had the opportunity to talk with him a few times and his knowledge of the game is incredible. I had heard that Ryle was interested in him before hiring their current head coach, but a teaching position at the school was not available.

And by no means am I insulting Beau's staure as a sophomore, I just know he made a HUGE jump physically between his 10 and 11 years; and then even more between 11 and 12.

Definitely agree with you about Beau over Houliston. Not to take anything away from Drew, he was a truly great passer, but Beau is special; literally calls plays on the field and Brian lets him run with it because of the feel he has for the game. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't Beau have only been sophomore when McCoy was playing? If my memory serves me correctly, I'm sure Beau definitely had the mental tools to perform, but he was physically not ready to play as a sophomore, IMO.

I am actually a HHS fan. I've just played the game and have been in the situation. If you work as hard as teams like HHS and Cov Cath do, there is never a "good" loss. I really think you would be hard pressed to find many people who disagree with me here. Getting that close to a W and falling short hurts even more.

It is definitely lopsided. However, that in no way dictates the feelings between players and coaches on either side and that was proven this evening; if anything it strengthens it. One team wants to end the streak desperately and the other desperently wants to continue it. I can guarantee you no one on Cov Cath's sideline or in the locker room after the game was saying "Well at least we lost by three and kept it a close game!".

Fair? Sure. Absurd? Definitely. Anyone who knows anything about this rivalry knows that there are not moral victories between CCH and HHS

Hog, I am picking up what you're putting down. Allowing the lines to only play one way allows you to dominate the line of scrimmages which is going to lead to Ws. Another point I would add to what you said is moving players to different positions. There are many players who might be solid LBs or RBs, but are not going to be a starter. However, they could be a starter on the opposite side of the ball. HHS does as good of a job as anyone to find "middle of the road" players and make them successful at a position that is not always their number one choice. As I am sure you know, HHS has had some issues in the past with parents being upset with this method, but once they see their son on the actual field rather than being a backup, they buy in pretty quickly.

Fine job by the Raiders last night. If you appreciate a great running game like I do, then you need to see Ryle play. They simply line up and tell you where they're going to run it and dare you to stop it. Seemed like they had maybe four or five plays total in their playbook last night. On a negative note for the Raiders, I would have liked to seen a little more class out of the coaching staff for the Raiders. Two onside kicks in the fourth quarter up 30 points is absurd anyway you write it up. And then the head coach taking pictures of the scoreboard after the game... Come on man!

Final from Ft. Thomas. Birds' starting offense only had three possessions the whole game; all leading to scores (Huber, New, and Veneman from Schoellman). Two punt returns (Veneman and Posey) and a defensive touchdown (Int. by Schuett). Good to see the birds get back on track; however, the status of the BC program is concerning. Looked like they had maybe 25 players on their team.

Also, Greg Mcgraw was an extremely talented safety as a frosh and sophomore at HHS but was forced to only play basketball because of back issues. He is at Pikeville Med. right now. He played basketball at Transy until he was no longer medically able to play that sport either because of his back. Many people do not realize this, but as a guy who graduated/played with him, I can tell you that he was one of, if not the best athlete in the class of 2008 at HHS.

I would put him right at 6 feet; maybe a little more but not much. He definitely has some room for growth in terms of bulking up. However, as I said earlier, he can really sling the football and is accurate with it. I would anticipate a big future for him.

I agree with the idea of the wildcat formation. However, as I am sure you realize, the frosh run the exact same offense as the varsity (just a little watered down). It would serve no purpose for the betterment of the program as a whole (which is what frosh ball is all about... Some people forget that) to install something, rep it over and over in practice, and then never run it again the next three years. Big picture is far more important. In terms of the game, I was really impressed how Scholemann (sp?) responded at QB for HHS. Heard from fans in the stands that he didn't practice all week and couldn't really speak because of the illness going around. He very well could turn into the first multi year starter at HHS since Towels. Kid can sling it and is super intelligent.

Lotto, you're dead on! HHS has always played with smaller offensive lineman that learn perfect technique and tenacity from Scott Turner. I challenge anyone to find a better o-line coach in high school football than Coach T. Best part about him is that he's an ever better man!

Agree that it leaves a lot to be desired. However, HHS wouldn't have the scoreboard/jumbo-tron unless the film and media classes were involved. The super made it clear that the board was not just a football investment, but an educational investment for real-life job opportunities; which IMO out ways any possible mishaps by the crew during the game. Seems that some people just have to pick something to complain about...
